Speedy deletion nomination of Pushkar Sohoni

[edit]

Hello Psohoni,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Pushkar Sohoni for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Polyglot (talk) 05:48, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ludo Rocher, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Castes

[edit]

Hi, I notice that you have been adding caste info for a large number of Biography pages, none of which is sourced. I think you need to find sources quickly and insert them, or you will be in danger of getting blocked. Kautilya3 (talk) 19:39, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, The information is from District Gazetteers, and standard sources. I can add references to all of them.

Please can you stop adding castes to biographies for a while. There are some big problems related to what you are doing and they will need to be talked through. For example, the Gazetteers are not reliable sources. Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 19:55, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
In fact, all of those edits need to be reversed anyway, for the reasons explained at User:Sitush/Common#Castecats. Sorry. - Sitush (talk) 19:58, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, no problem. But I have cited for about four of the changes, and many of the others are from verifiable sources that already are cited in the Wiki entry.

Yes, but you haven't cited the others and even if you had, in many cases you would have been falling foul of our policy regarding biographies of living people. We need reliable sources that show self-identification for caste, and we never categorise it. I realise that this means you've spent a lot of time adding material that is now going to be removed - it is unfortunate and it is not your fault that you were unaware of our policies in this matter. Please do not be disheartened. - Sitush (talk) 20:35, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

How does one add information about ethno-social groups that happen to be endogamous, parvenu migrant communities? As a historical grouping, it is of great value to understand the dynamics of the group identity. Here is a short, cursory bibliography of scholarship that relies on this kind of ethno-historical community identity of a community as Chitpavans: Valentine Chirol, Indian unrest (London: Macmillan, 1910). Maureen L.P. Patterson, 'Chitpavan Brahmin Family Histories: Sources for a Study of Social Structure and Social Change in Maharashtra' in Milton Singer and Bernard Cohn (eds.) Structure and Change in Indian Society (New York: Wenner Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research, 1968), pp. 397-411. Maureen L.P. Patterson, 'The Shifting Fortunes of Chitpavan Brahmans: Focus on 1948' in D.W. Attwood, Milton Israel, and N. Wagle (eds.) City, countryside and Society in Maharashtra (Toronto: Center for South Asian Studies, University of Toronto, 1988), pp. 35-58. Sedition Committee, Report 1918 (Calcutta: Superintendent, Govt. Printing, 1918). Gordon Johnson, 'Chitpavan Brahmins and Politics in Western India in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries' in Edmund Leach and S.N. Mukherjee (eds.) Elites in South Asia (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 1970) pp. 95-118. B.G. Gokhale, The Fiery Quill: Nationalism and Literature in Maharashtra (Bombay: Popular Prakashan, 1999).

I could add several more academic titles and papers to the list, but this should suffice for now. Almost all the entries barring some of the more recent people are listed and referenced in these works. I do not understand why certain labels are acceptable and others are not, e.g. why are there entries that list people as Bene-Israeli Jews, or Anglo-Indian, or any such taxonomy, when other communities are denied? Is there any real rationale, or is it just the whimsical fancy of someone who has time on his/ her hands and feels like a vigilante?

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Ghulam Yazdani, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Daulatabad. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

A tag has been placed on Agni Webbed requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article does not exist or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". It appears that you may have a conflict of interest with the subject of Humanities and Social Sciences, IISER Pune, and as such you should submit this article to be published through the Articles for Creation process. Before editing the article further, please first disclose on your user page and on the article's Talk page whether you have received money to write this or other articles on Wikipedia, or if you have any other kind of conflict of interest concerning the subject. I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. Before submitting, you should make sure that the article is fully compliant with Wikipedia’s neutrality and verifiability policies, as well as our notability guidelines. When you’re ready, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. This process is encouraged, but optional. If you choose not to participate in it, you can remove the AfC template and move the article back to mainspace. You should also consider reaching out to the Teahouse for additional feedback and aid from experienced editors. signed, Rosguill talk 21:18, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Psohoni. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Humanities and Social Sciences".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! UnitedStatesian (talk) 14:58, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Shankar-Shambhu moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Shankar-Shambhu, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
