Welcome to Wikipedia, and thanks for your interest in creating an article. However, as I mentioned on your talk page already, submitting an autobiography is almost certainly a bad idea. This is an encyclopedia, not a site for promoting yourself as an artist. We use various standards of notability; if you or your music don't meet them then it's not possible for them to be the subject of an article. Your first step should therefore to review the notability requirements to see if you meet them, and if so, to find references to reliable sources proving this. Third opinion request

The Third opinion request page is reserved for disputes involving only two editors where a discussion in the Talk page has taken place. Since that didn't happen (and there appears to be 3 editors involved) I had to remove it from the list. However, I'll take a look and add my thoughts, just as a regular ol' editor.JoelWhy (talk) 14:44, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

Oops! I see you have been discussing it on the other user's page! Sorry, in any case, I'll still look into it. :)
Yes, the discussion is (was?) taking place on User talk:Leo711. But may I ask who the third editor is? Do you mean the one who added the citation to begin with? That was done back in 2009, and the editor who added it doesn't appear to have been active on the article since that time. —Psychonaut (talk) 15:00, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

Help needed

Hey, Psychonaut, I need your meticulousness and knowledge. In this article some persons called Mareklug and Bidgee keep adding newsflashes and Internet rumors to a section they call "Aftermath". I think the jugheads need to be taught a lesson in how things are done here. You know all the rules and tags and links and where to go for "third opinion". You have a chance to show people you can use your knowledge not only to irritate but also for something good and useful. I'll be waiting for help. Thanks in advance. Editor Review

Hi, thanks for your comment on my editor review. I was wondering if you would be able to say why it was wrong the way I interacted with the editor, because it was not my intention, so I can act on it?--Chip123456 (talk) 20:47, 26 May 2012 (UTC) Thanks! .

I hope you don't mind, but NATIONAL SECURITY PARADIGM seems to have the exact same issues as Natsecurology, so I've added that article onto your AfD. —C.Fred (talk) 14:16, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

Too late; I already made a separate nomination on slightly different grounds. Would you like to merge all three into one? —Psychonaut (talk) 14:17, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
Three? He's got a third article, or just these two? —C.Fred (talk) 14:19, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
That said, I'm going to condense it to a single discussion. I don't see the need for two separate ones. —C.Fred (talk) 14:19, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Biogeonergydeterminism method. While you're at it, could you merge that as well? —Psychonaut (talk) 14:20, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

Hi! How can you help me to save my article in Wikipedia? Thank you very much!Lipkan.vladim (talk) 16:54, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
You already asked this question of User:C.Fred, and he gave you all the necessary information. I had also already given you some information on your talk page; I would encourage you to read it and our policies on notability and reliable sources. Let me know if there's anything from those pages in particular you don't understand and perhaps I can explain it further. —Psychonaut (talk) 16:56, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
You have marked my source 'Lipkan Vladimir, Natsecurology, European University Published, 2003' as 'Term not used in the source' or. But this termin is used there, but in original language(ukrainian).

Need Review of new article!

Hi. Recently with mine being running into bunch of copyright problems, I would like to request you to kindly review these articles here, here and please tell me any kind of suggestions you could find. I hope you won't mind taking a little time out for the same. Thanks! VIVEK RAI :  Friend?  11:05, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know. I've got a lot of work to do today, but I will try to find some time to look them over maybe tonight. —Psychonaut (talk) 11:09, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
I see that those pages have been redirected into another article. Could you please review those and tell whether the action is justified. My experience is too little to judge that. VIVEK RAI :  Friend?  15:22, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

A Copyvio FAQ

Last year when we were having troubles with IEP I'd created User:SpacemanSpiff/CopyingFAQ to help out with those students, per their request. It wasn't used as they felt that they had stuff under control. I just remembered about it, so I've removed some IEP specific stuff and left it as something to help other similar users. Examples are focused towards an Indian audience. Feel free to use/modify etc, as I think it may help in your current endeavor. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 15:40, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

CSD G11s on talkpages

Sorry, just need to leave you a note. In the past two days I have had to revert three warnings that you placed of impending speedy deletions of talkpages for advertising. In all of those three cases, an admin had blocked or warned the user and therefore were the original author of the talk page. The spammer came by afterwards and placed their advertising that you saw and tagged. The problem is, whatever automated tool you are using is then going and warning the blocking admin for the advertising and not the spammer. Since I don't know exactly how to get around it with whatever tool you use, can you try and double check when you are tagging user talks for spam that you aren't inadvertently warning someone else? Thanks! Syrthiss (talk) 18:51, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

I'm using Twinkle. I wasn't aware it was misbehaving in this manner, so thanks for the information. Now that you've let me know about this I'll check more carefully before tagging spam pages, or see if I can disable the notification message altogether. —Psychonaut (talk) 18:54, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

From deletion discussion in Commons: "the arrows are simple geometric forms". What do you think? --George Ho (talk) 06:30, 13 June 2012 (UTC)

They are simple geometric forms, but there is a creative element involved in the selection of their shape, colour, border, and placement on the logotype. —Psychonaut (talk) 06:40, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
Maybe you can make a global account that gives you access to all Wikimedia projects, including Commons. By the way, your words may be quoted. --George Ho (talk) 07:47, 13 June 2012 (UTC)

The article Palina Rojinski has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not seeing any decent sourcing for this BLP. WP:HOTTIE has, thank goodness, been deprecated,

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Non-free rationale for File:Socialist Studies № 82-14.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Socialist Studies № 82-14.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Message!

You have new message/s Hello. You have a new message at Vivek Rai's talk page.

A little favor requested!

I am here to request your honest opinion as an observer, my guide and fellow Wikipedian over here - Wikipedia:Requests_for_permissions/Autopatrolled#User:Vivek_Rai . Thanks VIVEK RAI :  Friend?  12:42, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

Unfortunately, I don't think there's anything I could say there which isn't already mentioned by the other contributors, or which would improve your chances of getting the request confirmed. If you really want AP rights I suggest you try again once you've created 50 articles and have had time to prove your familiarity with Wikipedia policies and guidelines. Those are the criteria normally considered for AP rights, so it's unlikely that you will be approved without meeting them. However, I don't really see that AP is all that important; I don't have it myself and don't feel disadvantaged in any way. —Psychonaut (talk) 14:54, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

I was unaware it was the X Window System logo I just found it at the User page design center & thought a X symbol would be an appropriate symbol for deletion log, don't nominate many articles myself hope you don't mind. ★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★ 14:34, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

No, I don't mind. It just struck me as curious. I can see how the X could be taken as crossing something out. —Psychonaut (talk) 14:49, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of article to which you have contributed

A few days ago I was informed that the article Metrication of British transport was being considered for deletion. As you have made at least one contribution to this article or to its Talk page, you might like to contribute to the debate at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Metrication of British transport. I have sent this note to everybody whose name was thrown up by the "Contributions" facility of the article and of its Talk Page (apart from those who have already contributed).

Nice advice - Should be part of Wikipedia 101!

I just stumbled on a piece of advice you gave an editor regarding how to write an article without closely paraphrasing.

OK, here's what I suggest: read several articles on the topic upon which you wish to write, commit the facts (not the words used to express them) to memory, and then wait for 24 hours. Then come to Wikipedia and, without consulting the original articles, write your own, completely original text expressing the facts you noted the previous day. After you have written this original text, retrieve the original articles, and for each fact you mentioned, add a reference to the appropriate articles.
— User:Psychonaut

This is from Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2012 June 2 for the article Shree Jain Vidyalaya. It just struck me as really sage advice. I don't know if it is original to you or came from others, but it is very sensible. IMHO, it should be part of "Wikipedia article creation 101" if there is such a thing! --Arg342 (talk) 12:46, 14 July 2012 (UTC)

Thanks! If you find or create such an article, feel free to add that advice (either verbatim or paraphrased). —Psychonaut (talk) 13:47, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
I would add: "Come back in another 24 hours, and note that everything you wrote has been deleted." SimpsonDG (talk) 03:24, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

Posters marked with copyright problems

You marked all of the posters I uploaded with the following {{di-disputed fair use rationale}} Question:-

  1. With regard to WP:NFCC#1 how do you expect a movie poster be replaced with free media
  2. With regard to WP:NFCC#2 I mean I can't upload a large sized image.Plus it is being used to illustrate the movie in the article.I mean it does all the things a poster can possible do so I don't get it how does it in any way not show Respect for commercial opportunities
  3. Is the following file ok? -> File:Rannr.jpg
  4. Regarding some other tags like the one on File:Mayya mayya.jpg how do you expect a screenshot of a song be depicted with the help of free media. The purpose of the image is the depict the song and not the actress.
  5. Is the following file ok? -> File:Kajra Re Screenshot.tif

Boseritwik (talk) July 18, 2012 03:19 (UTC)

Thanks for your message. I respond as follows:
  1. If the image is not replaceable with a free version, then you need to say so and why. You can't just write "N/A". Check some other fair-use images for some sample explanations.
  2. If the image is not being used in a way that infringes upon the owner's opportunity to exploit it for commercial purposes, then you need to say so and why. You can't just write "N/A". Check some other fair-use images for some sample explanations.
  3. That fair-use rationale seems much improved; I certainly wouldn't dispute it. (It would help if you could identify the copyright holder by name rather than just saying "the distributor of the film, the publisher of the film or the graphic artist"; I'm satisfied that this is specific enough but it's possible others wouldn't be.)
  4. Songs are purely audio media, so it would be unusual that a "screenshot" could serve to illustrate one. How does one take a "screenshot" of a song? Are you sure you didn't perhaps mean for the image to illustrate something else, such as a music video?
  5. No, the templates on those page do not indicate the copyright holder of the image, which is required under our fair-use policies. The templates are also missing any explanation in the "Low resolution" field. Please refer to {{Non-free use rationale}} for further explanations and instructions.
Psychonaut (talk) 07:21, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
By the way, it's not correct that I tagged all the posters you uploaded; I think I tagged only about half of them, as I ran out of time. Can I ask whether you intend to fix the problems with all of the images (including the untagged ones)? If not I will tag the remainder and can suppress the notification message if you prefer. —Psychonaut (talk) 14:11, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

Let me first deal with the two hundred images that are tagged and then you may tag the rest of the images or else I'll be pressed for time which may lead to many images being deleted and possible blocking of my account. Also I was talking about the music video. Boseritwik (talk) July 18, 2012 14:19 (UTC)

Also if you don't mind since you are an administrator, while I am just a newcomer in this whole situation, I would just like to bring your attention to one grievance I have in this whole mess. It's just that when I, a new user, go to Wikipedia:File Upload Wizard and under Step 3: Provide source and copyright information when I go to This is the official cover art of a work.,and select movie poster, nowhere does it ask for matter relating to Not replaceable with free media because WP:NFCC#1 or Respect for commercial opportunities WP:NFCC#2. I just wished, since you administrators think that those fields are of utmost importance and must be filed up, there was a section for these two points and were marked with a "red *" so that I wouldn't have to go through all this trouble and fix all these 300 400 files I have uploaded.Boseritwik (talk) July 18, 2012 15:16 (UTC)

I'm not an administrator. I'm just someone who occasionally tries to fix copyright problems that could get Wikipedia into legal trouble (or, if I can't fix them myself, tag them so that others can fix them). I agree that whatever interface you used to upload these files shouldn't have allowed required fields to remain empty. I'll check out that upload wizard and perhaps I can pass on a problem report to whoever is responsible for it. I see that those two fields are indeed missing when you select "Cover art", so this definitely needs to be fixed. —Psychonaut (talk) 19:08, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
  •  Done fixing all 200+ tagged images. You may tag the rest. Boseritwik (talk) July 18, 2012 20:21 (UTC)
    • Perhaps it would just be easier if you fixed the rest yourself without someone having to tag them as disputed first. :) —Psychonaut (talk) 11:05, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

July 2012 Study of authors of health-related Wikipedia pages

Dear Author/Psychonaut

My name is Nuša Farič and I am a Health Psychology MSc student at the University College London (UCL). I am currently running a quantitative study entitled Who edits health-related Wikipedia pages and Why? I am interested in the editorial experience of people who edit health-related Wikipedia pages. I am interested to learn more about the authors of health-related pages on Wikipedia and what motivations they have for doing so. I am currently contacting the authors of randomly selected articles and I noticed that someone at this address edited an article on Arthrography. I would like to ask you a few questions about you and your experience of editing the above mentioned article and or other health-related articles. If you would like more information about the project, please visit my user page (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Hydra_Rain) and if interested, please reply via my talk page or e-mail me on nusa.faric.11@ucl.ac.uk. Also, others interested in the study may contact me! If I do not hear back from you I will not contact this account again. Thank you very much in advance. Hydra Rain (talk) 16:40, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

Mate, I dont think you have this right at all. This is not a copyright by all means. It is obvious that the website you put as being copyrighted actually copied wikipedia. Why would a website on MAPS OF INDIA make there own bio of a footballer. Plus everything in the article was sourced to different articles. Therefore I am having trouble seeing where all the copyright is from. Everything on that article was sourced. Cheers. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 17:00, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Talk:Talimeran Ao#Copyvio. GiantSnowman 17:19, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
The material from Maps of India predates the problematic text in the Wikipedia article by at least two years. It may be that Maps of India copied the information from somewhere else, but it's unlikely that it was from Wikipedia. If you wish to continue this discussion please do so at Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2012 July 27. —Psychonaut (talk) 18:15, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Your Comment on My Retirement from Wikipedia

FYI -- although I am retired from Wikipedia and will no longer contribute to its articles, I reserve the right to check on my user page from time to time, checking for vandalism and perhaps making occasional minor edits there (and only there). I no longer make even minor edits to articles. Although I've noticed a number of errors in physics-related articles recently, I've decided to just leave them in place and not try to correct them. File permission problem with File:Reg Kehoe and his Marimba Queens.png

Thanks for uploading File:Reg Kehoe and his Marimba Queens.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 15:40, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

You have blanked the section as you had thought it was copyright of http://www.india-forums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=2673116, I believe you to be mistaken the information on the site was posted by a user of IndiaForums.com who just copied it from Wikipedia (look to the bottom of the specific post and it says "Edited by Visha_Dhami - 05 August 2012 at 6:34am" -The plot on wikipedia was there and contained the exact words before this date).

The article was clearly an early draft not yet suitable for the article space, but it is clear that

  • The author had in mind expanding it into something that would have dealt with the topic named in the title; and
  • The article you cite only tersely mentions that topic; and
  • The author has some expertise on this topic, from which we should hope to benefit; and
  • The author does not understand Wikipedia's conventions.

Concerning this last point, we should instruct him, and encourage him to revise his writings accordingly. We shouldn't be simply treating him as if he's here to disrupt things. Michael Hardy (talk) 03:38, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

He is disrupting things, but I'm not treating him as if he's doing so intentionally. I was indeed trying to "instruct and encourage" him (maybe you didn't see that message before you posted here?) but then his talk page access got revoked. I see that it's been restored, so we'll see if we can get him to engage in a dialogue with us. —Psychonaut (talk) 07:37, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

Glogova massacre

I've removed the infringement contained in the Glogova massacre. Please tell me if the draft is acceptable. --PRODUCER (TALK) 23:53, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for attending to this and to the issues with Lukomir so quickly. If you could post a link to your drafts at the relevant parts of Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2012 September 1, a copyright clerk or administrator will review them. —Psychonaut (talk) 09:32, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

Thank You

Thanks for the support mate, guess I'm fighting a losing battle here, my userpage will be getting deleted wont it. Sirocco758 (talk) 17:41, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

Perhaps in its present form, yes. If you read the policy on user pages at Wikipedia:User pages you'll see that it's not permitted to maintain any sort of log recording activities unrelated to Wikipedia; this proscription would seem to cover the personal travel information you're maintaining there. If there's any way in which your travels are associated with your contributions to Wikipedia (for example, if you have contributed photos taken at the various places you've visited, or attended Wikipedia meet-ups there), then I'd suggest you add this information, as this would probably make your user page within the scope of our project. Otherwise you should look at finding another place to host your travel information. —Psychonaut (talk) 18:20, 4 September 2012 (UTC)
