Susan's singing at curtain calls

[edit]

Hi. Just want to check with you. It appears that Susan is actually travelling with the show, but what, if anything, has actually been announced about Susan not, or possibly not, singing at every performance? Is she any different from any actor in the show in terms of her performance commitments? The theaters websites say that she "will" appear. See, for example: http://www.bradford-theatres.co.uk/event/i-dreamed-a-dream Thanks for any info. -- Ssilvers (talk) 17:58, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Earlier reports and interviews indicated that Susan would be going to most of the shows in this tour, but not necessarily all. The theaters seem to be taking a different approach in their advertising making it seem more certain that Susan will be there. Yesterday, Susan had a scheduled day off and did not sing for the matinee and evening show. She may have other days off for whatever reasons, such as preparing for the Queen's Jubilee concert. Because Susan did not perform yesterday, I would assume that the earlier reports where more accurate than the theaters advertising. Also from earlier TV interviews, Susan is only helping to get the show started on it's first tour and there are no promises after that. Edinburgh and Glasgow are selling tickets already for September and October, but so far no mention if Susan will be there at all and only includes a picture of Elaine. See Kings Theatre: http://www.atgtickets.com/I-Dreamed-a-Dream-Tickets/6/2423/#overview_tab Pumpkin10 (talk) 19:03, 12 April 2012 (UTC) Adding as well, the "I Dreamed a Dream" official website says that Susan is only giving special guest appearances. http://susanboylemusical.com/cast.html Pumpkin10 (talk) 20:46, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the info. I beefed up the footnote to explain. As for the minor roles, we usually don't list them unless the actor is notable (blue-linked). I kept the doctor and voice teacher, since they are mentioned in the plot synopsis, and it's a short cast list, but it's borderline at best. It's better to keep it as concise as possible. The article should really have a "critical reception" section briefly summarizing the major reviews. For a good example, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegro_%28musical%29#Critical_reception. -- Ssilvers (talk) 23:34, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I will try to put something together for the critical reception and also the history.

Article progress

[edit]

Good job. I have re-assessed the article as C-class. I also took some repeated refs out of the WP:LEAD, since the references are now given in the body of the article.

The article still needs a brief section, as we had discussed on the article's talk page, describing the differences between the story of the musical and actual history. See this, for an example, although I am sure ours can fit in one or two paragraphs. If you feel energetic, you could also write a few sentences about how the musical was conceived, came to be written, casting and any other history leading up to the first performance. Best regards! -- Ssilvers (talk) 02:52, 16 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Just a thought - There will probably be a lot of reviews along the way. We should keep the list of ELs down to just a few. So, unless a review is from a national publication, or adds something interesting to the conversation, we should consider not listing it. If it does contain really good info, consider discussing it in the text instead of listing it in the ELs. Happy editing! -- Ssilvers (talk) 01:38, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Susan Boyle

[edit]

Hi. First off, I appreciate your efforts at improving and maintaining the Boyle page. If you look at the very first edits on Boyle, you might note that I actually created it (so early, it was put up for CSD at first (for WP:NOTABLE)... check out the first edits, mildly interesting) but I have no vested interest in it or COI so I don't really *care* per se (I am just a RCP) but a cursory google search, complete with Google auto-suggesting that I add "susan boyle" next to Jennifers name, clearly puts the inclusion as notable. Feel free to dispute or get an admin, it's nothing personal and I am fine with a more experienced wikipedian making a judgement call on it. Cheers :) R3ap3R (talk) 23:14, 29 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I stopped by the Susan Boyle musical's page and saw that it hasn't been updated in a long time. Can you find the date that the show closed and add it? All the best! -- Ssilvers (talk) 06:29, 1 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
