Inkscape 0.46[edit]

Import
Vectorize
Distinguish bitmap and vector pic
Adjust Pic and frame

Hello Puppy8800. I may only be able to describe it for a Windows operating system and for black and white formula (no colors). Inkscape 0.46 can be installed in any directory you like. In ChemDraw you have to save the formula as tif (in "options" resolution can be 200px, "monochrome" and no compression).

Open it in Inkscape with Crtl+I. Vectorize it pressing Shift + Alt + B with given paramters. I normally move then the bitmap pic. This insures me that I will delete the old bitmap pic (you have to delete it!). The Bitmap-pic ist oftentimes worse then the vector pic.

Finally you can adjust heigth and width and - also important - the canvas size by pressing first Shift + Crtl + D ("seite in Auswahl einpassen") + maybe 10px for each side, then Shift + Crtl + A to center it.

Don't hesitate to ask. Cheers, --Yikrazuul (talk) 16:20, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Puppy8800! Unfortunately I don't know about colored pics as I am using them rarely. Sorry...--Yikrazuul (talk) 17:03, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there

Now there are two distinct reaction mechanisms. Would you like to take a look? --Rifleman 82 (talk) 05:35, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps we can split them into two sections: the oxidation to a methyl ketone, and the reaction of a methyl ketone? Then, we can reword the text? I'll prepare a draft at Haloform_reaction/Draft. --Rifleman 82 (talk) 06:20, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, what do you think about this draft? The images can come later, of course. I'm just talking about the structure because the article seems a bit repetitive at the current state. --Rifleman 82 (talk) 06:49, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have any changes to propose? Please feel free to edit the draft! That's the reason I didn't put it at my userspace. If nothing, perhaps you can draw in the reaction schemes 'coz I'm a bit busy at the moment. Thanks! --Rifleman 82 (talk) 06:56, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was wondering about the oxidation - is it by the halogen X2, or by the hypohalide, XO-? Or could it depend on the reaction conditions/equilibrium between X2 and OH-? --Rifleman 82 (talk) 07:09, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll move the draft back onto the actual article, and we can resume regular programming? ;) Thanks for your help! --Rifleman 82 (talk) 07:23, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
