Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Puresymphony, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Information icon Hello, I'm Mcmatter. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 18:06, 15 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit(s) you made to Eleftherios Papadimitriou, did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Suntooooth, he/him (talk/contribs) 00:21, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@ Suntooooth

I disagree - These biographical facts are Greek Public Knowledge - Also there were detailed references from Books & mainstream Newspapers & Media (BBC) in English & Greek, about this person.
I believe, the article has a neutral standpoint.

Also, I protest that my changes "did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted" and that am using "bare URLs" as well as, that I have "a connection with the subject" of the article. THis is higly speculative personal opinion, with unfounded grounds. Simply because a user says so vaguely that is not necessarily true. Any accusation must be based in facts (Western Type Democracy).

Without reading the NEW detailed references in ENGLISH from the BBC and other mainstream Books you had undo my work. Read first delete later.

As an amateur unpaid Biographer, furthermore, I believe there are double standards in comparizon with other Greek Politicians articles on English Wikipedia. In contrast with their profiles (with minimum references) I have searched and found several English links related to the each subject from birth to academic achievements till his assasination attempt.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/783607.stm https://vdoc.pub/documents/revolutionary-and-dissident-movements-of-the-world-1hep8guaacog

and the other references you have deleted.

I will also post in the future, Photographs of Papadimitriou together with World renowned Leaders in the field of Politics & in Arts.

Therefore, I request that my edits be reviewed and considered based on merit rather than vague and unfounded assumptions. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Nevertheless, If you do not agree I would appreciate if you could mention in detail your arguments.I am waiting for your reply -

Thank you Puresymphony (talk) 00:24, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to violate Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy by adding commentary and your personal analysis into articles, as you did at Eleftherios Papadimitriou, you may be blocked from editing. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 23:57, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Mcmatter
Is this a threat?
What neutral point of view policy?? He was SHOT in AN ATTEMPTED MURDER FIVE TIMES by TWO TERRORISTS - This not an opinion IT IS A FACT. I will UPLOAD THE GREEK CRIMINAL COURT'S RULLING -
You are mistaken - You dont READ the references and you edit text with WRONG facts - Consider who violates what? Puresymphony (talk) 00:08, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia: check out the Teahouse!

Hello! Puresymphony, you are invited to the Teahouse, a forum on Wikipedia for new editors to ask questions about editing Wikipedia, and get support from peers and experienced editors. Please join us! Liz Read! Talk! 04:48, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Puresymphony,
You have been editing for less than 24 hours and have made 133 edits. That is a lot of activity for a brand new editor. I recommend that you slow down and take time to become familiar with Wikipedia's policies and practices. The Teahouse is a great place to bring any questions you might have. I just want to remind you that Wikipedia is a collaborative editing project. Disagreements are common but editors need to remain civil and focus on policy points that support their editing choices. Conflicts are much easier to resolve when everyone remains polite and respectful. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 04:53, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing from certain pages (Eleftherios Papadimitriou) for a period of 48 hours for disruptive editing and battleground behavior. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text at the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Isabelle Belato 🏳‍🌈 14:44, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Puresymphony, I'm giving some timeout from that article as you have shown battleground behavior towards the multiple users trying to help improve the article. You can use the talk page to discuss changes with other editors. Isabelle Belato 🏳‍🌈 14:47, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

Insert your reason to be unblocked here Puresymphony (talk) 15:00, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Isabelle Belato was too lenient. Had I gotten here first, I’d have permanently revoked your editing privileges. If you keep hounding AN, I still will. Courcelles (talk) 15:21, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Reason 1 - I have edited this article in good faith using credible footnotes.
Reason 2 - I have reverted the changes that vandalised the text from IP 100.36.106.199. This behaviour was uncivil - Read comments on Eleftherios Papadimitriou history.
Reason 3 - A case of double standards - Any user can post short baseless claims against another user and the one who is trying to protect his work gets punished. Am answering in detail in the talk page to support my actions.
Reason 4 - I have started to make edits in other articles that need editing and I have found credible sources and footnotes to support Wikipedia work. Puresymphony (talk) 15:00, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for abuse of editing privileges.

  • Also, I’ve blocked your sleeper sockpuppet, user:ModernTacitus. You kept ranting on AN, so as promised, your editing privileges are revoked sitewide. Courcelles (talk) 15:29, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    @Courcelles
"You kept ranting on AN", - nice comment! any connection to McMatter? again I state some users can act and do as they please in Wikipedia and accuse other users in an uncivil manner with baseless accusations - Thats really democratic!
Some users should stay silent puppets and others can act in any way they want (using outside IP address to edit texts etc)
Also, some users can write and edit any text as they please without regarding the footnotes - How academic! Puresymphony (talk) 15:47, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've removed your empty unblock request. If you wish to make another unblock request, please do so properly.--Bbb23 (talk) 16:08, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    no problem. Puresymphony (talk) 16:09, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your valuable and biased comment!
Define my attacks against other users with examples - Do mention the attacks of other users to me for a balanced argument.
Also, use your blocking power without prejudice and using appropriate long sentences to argue. Simple argumentative phrases are not just and fair!
I Think you have deleted my first Appeal on grounds that my Appeal was short. Puresymphony (talk) 17:39, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Reason 1 - In my view, some users edited the article "Eleftherios Papadimitriou" with no regard as to the content of the footnotes and the sensetivity of the issue (he is a living person). Also, they have deleted text with no reason whatsover. :Reason 2 - I admit after carefully reading the Wikipedia rules that the use of caps is not allowed. As a new member I was not aware of that fact. :REason 3 - I have acted in good faith, since in Academia the use of caps is widely considered proper to underline the meaning of words. :Reason 4a - I tried to create articles using reliable sources in English and Greek + urls. :Reason 4b - In the case of Eleftherios Papadimitriou's article, I have inserted credible information and articles. With no apparent reason the user McMatter and IP 100.36.106.199 deleted those footnotes, and I think he edits the text as he pleases having no regard for different opininion. :Reason 5 - My block is a case of double standards. :Reason 6 - As a new member, I was not properly welcomed or guided by anyone. I think the administrator that blocked me is exercising his power on me out of proportion. Also, In my view, his comments that I "Hound" or "Rand" are uncivil and demeaning against me. :Reason 7 - I believe that, I have the capacity and am willing to contribute Wikipedia's end goal. :Reason 8 - I will definetely read all of Wikipedia's rules and I will seek assistance from older and much more experienced users. :Thank you for taking the time to review my appeal. None of what you say convinces me that you understand why you were blocked or that you will not continue the behavior that led to the block. Your request is a hodge-podge of WP:NOTTHEM, attacks against other editors, and irrelevant comments, e.g., your repeated assertion that you are an academic. • Mimicking your writing style of answer - "None of what you say convinces me that you understand why I appealed. I dont believe professional experience is a minus. Puresymphony (talk) 17:44, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also you have mentioned WP:NOTTHEM - That is applicable in users that have made a threat, or might make a threat to take legal action.
    Thats not my case.
Please be kind to answer every claim I have made - with an appropriate longer response, citing examples. Puresymphony (talk) 17:54, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Nikos Gatsos, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Peter Jay. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
