April 2009[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Henry Azra has been reverted.

Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): \byoutube\.com (links: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwyf5inbyz8). If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file. Video links are also strongly deprecated by our guidelines for external links, partly because they're useless to people with slow internet connections.

If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 03:46, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tips on referencing[edit]

There are lots of ways to do this, some are simple, some more complex.

Personally, I like using citation templates, and fill in as much as I possibly can; maybe a bit more work, but I think it looks better. You have a <REF> at the start, then a suitable cite tag, then </REF>. An example usage is;

<ref>
{{Citation
 | last = Preston
 | first = Peter
 | title = D. H. Lawrence in the modern world
 | last2 = Hoare
 | first2 = Peter
 | author2-link =
 | publication-date = 1989
 | edition = illustrated
 | place = [[Cambridge]], [England]
 | publisher = [[Cambridge University Press]]
 | page = 125
 | isbn = 0-521-37169-4
 | url = http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=J5nRoaOwkPMC&printsec=frontcover#PPA125,M1
 | accessdate = 2008-05-11
}}
</ref>

For all the possible things to include, see Template:Citation

Of course, you don't have to put everything in, just whatever you can. The above example is a book, but I've included a 'convenience link' to a website that displays it.

Then, at the end of the document (but before any 'category' tags), you need a references section. You just put,

== References ==

{{reflist}}

Hard work? - help is at hand. There are lots of tools that create cite tags automagically. Personally, I use Zotero for the web links, and the cite book generator for books.

I also recommend you look at other articles and copy from them - especially featured articles, which should have good refs.

Hope this help, cheers,  Chzz  ►  04:49, 14 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable sources[edit]

Remember that all sources should be reliable and verifiable.

Comparison examples[edit]

Hi, I just thought of something. Often, when trying to find out how to write a better article, it's useful to find an existing, similar article to get ideas. "Featured articles" are great for this, because they represent the best of Wikipedia. You seem to be the type of person who learns things best by seeing them, so maybe this would help you. For example, have a look at Black Francis. You can see all featured articles listed in WP:FA. Cheers,  Chzz  ►  06:13, 14 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Henry Azra 2008.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Henry Azra 2008.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 17:06, 14 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Log in please[edit]

Hi. I just led you through the steps to license the photo, etc, on the Wikipedia Help IRC channel. Unfortunately after you logged off I noticed you weren't logged in when you added the licensing info to File:Henry Azra 2008.jpg. In order to make things right (legally with the image licensing) could you remove the "Cc-by-sa-3.0" stuff in one edit, then add it back in, to verify it is actually you. Make sure you do these two edits logged into this account, to make sure the person who uploaded the picture is adding the licensing to it. Killiondude (talk) 04:23, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, cool. You already did it :-) Killiondude (talk) 04:25, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
