Thanks lots for all the help on the article, btw. Am hoping a couple more people will approve, it would be good to have a good example of a decent sport article. :)

Yes, let's hope somebody nominates one soon. :-Þ

Have you thought about leaving a message on Ilywrch's talk page asking if he'll support it now? It sounds like he would have supported it but for the change he suggested, so he might decide to if he has a look at it now that the change has been made. CTOAGN 22:30, 18 October 2005 (UTC)

Featured Article

Congratulations on getting Arsenal F.C. a featured article! You did good work with all the editing. I'm proud to have been a tiny part of it. :) --howcheng [ talk • contribs • web ] 15:53, 20 October 2005 (UTC)

Bounty Board

Greetings. You've recently been involved with working on get articles up to featured status, so I wanted to let you know about a new page, Wikipedia:Bounty board. People have put up monetary bounties for certain articles reaching featured status - if the article makes it, the bounty lister donates the stated amount of money to the Wikimedia Foundation. So you can work on making articles featured, and donate other people's money at the same time. If this sounds interesting, I hope you stop by. – Quadell (talk) (bounties) 13:29, 28 October 2005 (UTC)

Henry Stats

Hi, after i did up the assists stats for pires by updating his table, but cant seem to do it for henry. do u know how to? in any event i only have assists from the 2001/2 season onwards... accordingly, its 5, 20, 6, 13, nil. Chensiyuan

Two reverts

To revert without any reason given constitutes vandalism, especially as the anon user is removing constructive input. Two reverts do not constitute an edit war. Also, I quote: "assuming good faith is about intentions, not actions." Mandel 19:34, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

I don't assume anyone is POV-pushing unless he/she bothers to explain why he/she is removing or reverting parts of the article. If you keep blanking off contributions while keeping mum, it cannot count as pushing for anything. That's just vandalism - removing someone's constructive contribution. Cheers, Mandel 22:48, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

Arsenal template

Now it works, I was just experiencing some troubles on expanding the template... --Angelo 14:47, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

Some of those information (I mean, "captain", "vice-captain", and "on loan") have been already discussed and approved in the past, if you look at the talk page. So, they should be somehow implemented. But, ya, if this implementation should be pratically hard to be done, well, the "name" setting still works (and will always work). Thanks in advance for your interest about the issue. Ciao. --Angelo 14:56, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

Blanking of Portsmouth F.C.

Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. If it is a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia! Doc (?) 16:45, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

It was an accident, sorry. Qwghlm 17:04, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
No problem - accidents happen. --Doc (?) 16:51, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

Arsenal squad

Straight to the point I think I deserve an apology from you. If you feel the table format is a bad way of displaying the squad then you should have discussed it with me rather than just deleting my work. It's not a short process compilling that table you know. Also I think displaying player previous clubs and signing year is useful. It's also easier to read. So next time please don't just delete other hard work. I could understand if I had vandalised the page.

Jimmmmmmmmm 1-11-2005

Well ok yes I suppose I should appologise as well. I had no idea this had been voted on. But although you gave a reason for the revert you displayed as opinion, your opinion. Also I would not have known about all your work on the squad without trawling through months of history. You on the other hand could clearly see my contribution, and removed it less than an hour later. I notice another discussion involving you about reserve players in the first team squad. Just thinking anyone given a squad number for that season is part of the first team squad, just a thought.

Cheers

Milton Keynes Dons F.C., Wimbledon F.C.

POV vandals are active again on Milton Keynes Dons F.C. and Wimbledon F.C.. It would be more convincing if I weren't the only one reverting, so your assistance would be welcome. --Concrete Cowboy 14:29, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

Great, thanks. --Concrete Cowboy 17:48, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

Blasted Arsenal Unicode

Sorry about blasing Arsenal's Unicode. I thought I had it working, but now I see that I don't yet have enough options defined in Vim to make it accept UTF-8. (SEWilco 17:50, 13 November 2005 (UTC))

European Cup

Hi there, thanks a lot for your welcome, and your editing tips! I've corrected the ones I've done so far, and I think they're better now. I'm sure I'll get confused again somewhere else, hopefully I'll notice first!

Thanks again, I'll try that tildes thing! :) Starfighter Pilot 13:33, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

Barnstar

For your excellent work on football articles, I award you the running man barnstar. File:Yemen flag large.png CTOAGN (talk) 00:56, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

I thought it was time your football contributions had some recognition, even if they are mostly about some obscure London team, so here's a running man barnstar. It shows an Arsenal youth team player running away from Arsène :-D

Seriously though, well done. It's well deserved. File:Yemen flag large.png CTOAGN (talk) 00:56, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

Sources for Charlie George

Hello, some time ago you added a fair bit of content to Charlie George. As you may be aware, we are currently trying to improve Wikipedia's accuracy and reliability by making sure articles cite the sources used to created them. Do you remember what websites, books, or other places you learnt the information that you added to Charlie George? Would it be possible for you to mention them in the article? Thank you very much. - SimonP 17:05, 4 December 2005 (UTC)

Arsenal

Well I saw it on the Liverpool F.C. article and thought it looked nicer than the one already at Arsenal F.C. If you want to revert, though, feel free - I don't really care that much :) – ugen64 07:15, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

AFC Wimbledon

An anon editor has changed the date of foundation from 2002 to 1889, claiming FA approval. Is there any evidence for this, do you know? (For obvious reasons, I'm reluctant to edit that article). --Concrete Cowboy 13:25, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Dorchester Town players

Not a problem, accidents happen. Good spot to put them up for AfD in the first place! Cheers, Sliggy 15:06, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

Foo in the Premiership

I've been meaning to sort out those edits, but got sidetracked. I'll make a start. I'll also try to salvage some bits of Bolton Wanderers F.C. that used to be in the article. It has seriously deteriorated since I last looked at it. I'd better remove the remaining fixtures too since they're a copyvio. Oldelpaso 10:49, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

The current Premiership teams are all done now, with the exception of Manchester United, which I'd struggle to merge without adding POV, and Villa. I'll do more later but first I have an FA Cup match to attend. Oldelpaso 13:48, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

Diaby

There's a bit of confusion here as Arsenal.com actually just call him Abou Diaby. I am happy to wait and see what happens and revert my edits if necessary. Thanks for pointing this out. Weyoun 14:51, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

I did try moving the page, but Wikipedia would not let me even though the existing article was just a redirect. Weyoun 16:59, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

Thank You

I apreciate the information about copyrights and such for Wikipedia, I'm not so much of an Internet person myself and don't find the time to look around thoroughly at every single detail. You or another Admin can go ahead and delete the pictures as necessary until I have confirmed the ability to use them here by their original source. If there's anything else you'd like to inform me about to avoid any further problems in the future please do so on my Talk Page.

Aside from the pictures of footie players themselves everything else should be fine such as the club crests and the article of Venus as I have talked to my sources beforehand, which is what I should have done with the pictures of the players.

Take care then. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Stitchface (talk • contribs) 18:17, January 13, 2006.

Dorchester AfD

Sorry for missing that one as I closed it; yours was actually the first article I tried out my new typing-free AfD closer button, so I didn't really look past the big bolded words. It's deleted now. :) Mo0[talk] 14:55, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedian DOG

  • PROBLEM WITH COPYRIGHTS!!, those files i uploaded were not copyrighted material, they were taken from public sources and edited by me, so there's no question of me not obeying copyright laws, i added them coz none of the arsenal FC players had any pictures of them in their article pages, even thierry henry didn't had a pic of him in his article so i decided to add some pics of arsenal players, that's all yep!
  • most of those pics i added were available in a lot of public sites and all and i'm sure they were not copyrighted material!!!!

Football squad template

Ya, I had already seen your extensions to the Football Squad Template (it is part of my watchlist, that's why). You did a good work, it is definitely useful. Feel free to improve the whole template thing, and thanks for your message! Ciao. --Angelo 22:14, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

Ur delete my work again!I spent nearly 30 minutes on collecting that data and you deleted without even telling me!What about players like Reyes,Fabregas and Pascal Cygan! aren't they part of the Arsenal FC?? I have this feeling that they should be listed in Arsenal FC players list.Anyway which Arsenal fan would say Reyes or Fabregas is not notable???--Wikipedian DOG 18:25, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

Manchester City F.C. peer review

Robert Stevenson

The quote I previously entered from "Association Football And The Men Who made It", by Dickford and Gibson (1905), suggests that Stevenson did captain Arsenal at some point or other. Spyrides 15:08, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Re: Bob

Your idea seems sound to me mate. You know the weirdest thing about this struggle for accuracy? The Dickford & Gibson quote is contained in the Essential History of West Ham book, and one of the editors of that is... Tony Hogg!! I'd hope for better accuracy from "professionals"... tut tut ;-) Spyrides 15:43, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Do you know anything about this game? 3 March 1896 saw a 'floodlit friendly' at the Hermit Road ground for Thames Ironworks, in their first encounter with Woolwich Arsenal. George Gresham scored twice, in an epic encounter that finished in favour of Woolwich Arsenal 5-3. George Gresham scored two of "The Irons" goals that day. I also have another conflicting date of 16 March 1896 for this game... ...do you have a source that may throw light on this? Spyrides 17:03, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

"Franchise F.C." request to merge

There is a request to merge Franchise F.C. with Milton Keynes Dons F.C.. You might like to contribute to the discussion? --Concrete Cowboy 12:58, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

I agree. Having looked at the AfD pages, I can only describe them as impenetrable to the ordinary wikipedian. If you find it convenient, would you do so, please? (or talk me through it). Also Franchise FC, which is a redirect. Unless RtMerge achieves the same thing? --Concrete Cowboy 17:55, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the help. Pity the AfD article is not written as clearly. Deed is done, let's see what happens. --Concrete Cowboy 17:52, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

Articles

I have been looking through the list of unwatched pages (available only to administrators) and found 1919 in sports. I see that you recently edited this but are not watching it. You may want to go to your preferences and under the "editing" tab turn on "Add pages you edit to your watchlist". This will enable you to keep an eye out for any edits that are made to pages you work on and help to revert vandalism. If you do decide to turn it on can you please drop me a note on my talk page so I can cut down my excessive watchlist (6000+). Thanks. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 16:31, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

RFA

Hi, just wanted to thank you for voting on my RFA, which went through with a count of (58/0/1), far better than I'd expected. I intend to take things slowly and start using the extra abilities gradually, but if there's anything I can do just leave a message. Cheers, CTOAGN (talk) 13:52, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Jimmy Jackson is a kangaroo

Chris, in the Official History of Arsenal Jimmy Jackson is rightly referred to as an Australian. The majority of Australia's population have emigrated from the British Isles so to not call him 'Australian', especially when he left at 2 with his family and only returned to play football, would make us all 'British', which is false. Emigrating denotes a person who has left one nation for another and therefore it would be false again to call Jimmy Scottish. A Scottish-Australian is the fairest nationality to use as it is importnat to recognise one's origins. His brother's son was a very famous Australian cricketer for Australia and died during the Bodyline series. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 210.84.44.200 (talk • contribs) 20:31, February 17, 2006.

Indeed, which is why in my last edits to that article [1] I added "Scottish" but did not take away "Australian". I merely affirmed he was Scottish as well as Australian, not instead of. Qwghlm 22:08, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
