Creating an Article[edit]

I saw on the New Contributors' help page that you are planning on creating an article. I would encourage you to start any article you want to create at User:Rainiara/NEW ARTICLE TITLE rather than creating it in the mainspace. Then you can make edits over time and improve it until it is ready to be moved. Ryan Vesey Review me! 18:17, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I was planning on doing so, and adding a newpage tag at the top of the page, but my article is about a living person and there is a note that says that "this template should not be used on biographies of living persons" also, it says "This template is not for User Namespace articles" so I'm a little confused...

A better template to use would be {{Userspace draft}}. The reason that {{Newpage}} said it shouldn't be used on Biographies of Living Persons is that there is a specific policy for BLP's. You can find this at WP:BLP. One requirement is that even if it is a new page or a userspace draft you need at least one source. Make sure you look over that page before creating your article and check Wikipedia:Notability (music) to make sure your article won't be deleted. WP:WPMAG might give you some advice on how to organize your article. You can also check Wikipedia:Your first article. Ryan Vesey Review me! 20:05, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Aye, I've been looking at the pages you mentioned - it's just a lot of information to take in at once. Thank you very much for being so helpful! I really appreciate it!

No problem. It took me months to go over and find all of that information, but it is certainly beneficial. My first article is bad and my second article was deleted. Since reading that information, and much much more, I have written some very good articles. Ryan Vesey Review me! 22:37, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much, Ryan Vesey! I posted the draft of the article in my sandbox if you would like to have a look and provide some feedback.
