browse box
[edit]Howdy. Just following up on your comment at Sidebar redesign:
- "Also, things really can't be placed below the search box, sadly"
I replied:
- "If this-hypothetical-box cannot be placed beneath the search box, I believe the whole idea needs to be dropped. ... [because] ... The search box is currently only just "above the fold" at 800x600. Any lower and it would be below the fold; this would be unacceptable (because of poor usability). It would also mean changing a core piece of site design, thereby potentially confusing a large percentage of users."
So, I was wondering if you had any more info, on the feasibility of putting this potential new browse-box below the search box, instead of above it? Thanks.
(and aside from that, i appear to have created a monster...! :-/ --Quiddity·(talk) 19:12, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit]How does the story look now? Still fixing it. Carmelapple 17:49, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
Hello Ral315
[edit]Hello, please see my reply on User talk:Kpjas. All this was taken from User:Carmelapple. By the way, I got some software changes from Brion Vibber so you might need them for BRION in the Signpost. Let me know, and I'd be delighted to write the report regularly. ForestH2 t/c 03:06, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
Why are you not comfortable about Carmelapple doing any more work for the Signpost? We'll need to reschedule Spetember 11th, then for Simple English and leave a message on his simple page. ForestH2 t/c 03:08, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
Yes though what about my technology report question? That's a big problem- just copy/pasting a news story already published. ForestH2 t/c 03:10, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
What's your email? It's only about 5 things though. ForestH2 t/c 03:15, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
Here it is. It takes a while to upload. It's just a list of bugs reported and some of things Tim/Brion have done. I don't know if it's worth publishing though. ForestH2 t/c 03:18, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
Is there anything you need help with for the Signpost? I'd love to help if you need me. Well....how was it? ForestH2 t/c
Right....and how about anything you need help with for the Signpost? I'm always willing to help, just remember that. Uh.....the list that is not actully en (I made it en because the Signpost is en) has a whole bunch of things that are en but you have to know which ones are en and not es or id or fr. ForestH2 t/c 03:39, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- O.K, any google news results that are long and would get a special story- that's where I'll start and I can promise you not to copy/paste info. Are we going to have a technology report this week? ForestH2 t/c 03:41, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- By the way; who's responsible for "In the news?" Carmelapple is, isn't he? So...if he's out then we got to find someone to take over. ForestH2 t/c 03:43, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit]So you're going to block me for telling Nathan's side of the story while he's blocked. If he's blocked, he needs someone to tell his side. I'm trying to discuss the matter, not inflat it as much as possible. No comment I have made has violated any policy nor do I intend to violate any possibilty. Blocking me would not accomplish anything but a few more raised eyebrows, nor would it get to change my point of view on the situation. If it's a foundation issue, I would let the foundation handle it, not them. — Moe Epsilon 04:43 August 14 '06
- Well, letting the foundation know about is a step foward. I don't care about Nathan being blocked until then, it's the matter of Sceptre blocking him. Sceptre was one of the most heavily involved people of all (next to Snopake and Nathan) and him abusing hisa right to block Nathan wasn't proper. And the fact that the lentgh of the block is indef. — Moe Epsilon 04:51 August 14 '06
- And the Foundation looking into is fine with me. I just didn't want the final ruler in the saying to be the one involved in the conflict with him, it wouldn't be right, in fact against policy. Cyde already borderlines someone previously involved, but a better block than Sceptre's. — Moe Epsilon 04:59 August 14 '06
- To correct; Cyde's block was replaced by Sceptre's. ~ PseudoSudo 05:02, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Since we didn't mention all that stuff; I thought it was worth mentioning but oh well :) Could you check User:ForestH2/Signpost/Technology report 8/28 and if that's from last month to (I know it hasn't been named) delete the article? ForestH2 t/c 00:45, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

- O.K. And then delete User:ForestH2/Signpost/Outage for me. O.K? ForestH2 t/c 01:39, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
- By the way, if your interested in weekly technology reports for the Signpost you can get them from Brion Vibber or from his bugs, and software change station which is where I got all the info from last month. ForestH2 t/c 01:52, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
Hello
[edit]Hi, I was wondering if I could write an article. You see, I am an active participator in places around the world (cities, communities, neighborhoods, states, districts, etc.) and there are currently hundreds of thousands of articles on such source. Each week, I would like to write about a place article, and kind of make it the "Place of the Week". I would include photos, etc. What do you think? Ericsaindon2 04:25, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit]A7 isn't a valid reason? This article did not assert notability. But it's going to be deleted in all likelihood anyway. --Fang Aili talk 19:33, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
- So.. we really have to prod/AfD every resort/building/street/etc article that doesn't assert notability? --Fang Aili talk 19:41, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
- I don't see where you're coming from. I've seen lots of articles speedied while they were in AfD. And saying that "using CSD A7 is wrong, since it doesn't cover the subject of the article" implies that we can't use it for anything not specifically listed on the CSD. I'm not a 'deletionist', but I also don't want my hands tied every time I see a non-encyclopedic article. --Fang Aili talk 20:06, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
- Well, we'll have to agree to disagree there. I believe you've contracted yourself in your comments to me, but I think I understand what you're saying. I'm not a deletionist, but I also don't believe in clogging the system with obvious non-encyclopedic material. If we really had to prod/AfD every made-up word, every "my school sucks" article, every nonsensical thing you can think of that doesn't technically fall under CSD.. there'd be thousands of prods/AfDs every day. However I do believe this has been argued at great length on other pages so there's not much point in you and I going back and forth. This one's going to be deleted anyway. Cheers. --Fang Aili talk 20:22, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

1000 admin article
[edit]I've started the article, but I really don't know what to write in regards to this great milestone. These were some of the things that I was thinking of when I started:
- 1000th admin's response ("what an honor this is...")
- Statistics of how many admins there are per user, article, etc. (sort of what I have now)
- Quick summary of discussion on the talk page of RfA.
- Sampling of some graphs made to chart admin growth and Wikipedia growth, such as Image:En-admins-articles-users-edits.png, Image:En-admin-vs-edits.png and Image:En-admin-vs-user-growth.png.
- Community reaction, possibly (be it on RfA talk, or the User's talk page).
I really need some suggestions on where to go with this article. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you. If you have any questions, please contact me at my talk page. Ian Manka Talk to me! 03:02, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
