Hi, I noticed that you rejected my edit on Dev Sharma's wikipedia page? I'm unsure why you've done this as the claims made were substantiated, and referenced sufficiently from his personal Tiktok page. I hope you reconsider censoring my edit. Best wishes, Albie 131.111.185.176 (talk) 20:17, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, thank you for your patience in this matter.
English Wikipedia has a variety of policies and guidelines, and most of these are not obvious from the edit interface that results when one clicks the "edit" button. (You can learn more about these policies and guidelines generally by opening Help:Getting started.) One of these policies is the Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons policy, which places much stricter standards (and more leeway to revert edits) on allowable content about living persons than on most other article subjects. In a nutshell, the specific issues with this edit are that citation standards under articles covered by this policy have a strong presumption against using self-published or primary sources (with the philosophy that if information was notable, it would most likely already be published by more reliable sources), information should be encyclopedic (meaning even true information does not necessarily qualify to be published on English Wikipedia), and the privacy and legal rights of article subjects should generally be respected (especially if the subject is not especially famous or is actually a minor or recently one, as might be presumed by the details found in the article involved).
As a gesture of assumed mutual good faith, I will voluntarily implement 1RR (meaning not exceeding one total reversion) and therefore not make any further reversions to this edit on Dev Sharma for the next few days (if at all). However, I would still strongly advise asking at Wikipedia:Teahouse or (at the very least) using Wikipedia:Edit requests to gather additional information from editors with more experience with biographies of living persons issues about making this edit before re-attempting it (if you still wish to), as I do not control whether other editors will revert other the biographies of living persons policy using similar reasoning.
Thank you for your interest in English Wikipedia, and have a great day!
