Welcome[edit]

Hello, Ransara Jey, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you created was Ransara Jey (Ransara Wijayasundara), which appears to be an article about yourself. This is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. Your user page, however, is a great place to write about yourself, making sure to stay within user page guidelines. Just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit it normally.

The page you created about yourself may well be deleted from the encyclopedia. If it is deleted and you wish to retrieve its contents, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! — JJMC89(T·E·C) 13:54, 27 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Teko (Company) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hello Ransara Jey. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Teko (Company), gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Ransara Jey. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Ransara Jey|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Vexations (talk) 18:09, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Reply: Hi Vexations, No I am not getting paid from anyone. I am new to Wikipedia contributions. I found that company and the sources related to it online. Since it was quite notable and didn't had an article, I decided to create an article to get some hands on experience. It would be great if you can guide me on how to get that Teko (Company) article back to life instead of deleting it. I am really looking forward to put my best into it. Thank you. --Ransara Jey (talk) 18:31, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You are suspected of sockpuppetry, which means that someone suspects you of using multiple Wikipedia accounts for prohibited purposes. Please make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, then, if you wish to do so, respond to the evidence at [[Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/{{{1}}}]]. Thank you. Nomination of Teko (Company) for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Teko (Company) is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Teko (Company) until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article.

Sockpuppet investigation[edit]

An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Ransara Jey, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

January 2021[edit]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 3 days for abusing multiple accounts. Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Dreamy Jazz talk to me | my contributions 22:42, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I understand that you have owned up to and apologised for your sockpuppetry. Having done so is a good thing, and I hope you go on to make further constructive contributions. However, as detailed in my closing comment in the investigation, your comment which infers that your other account was not yours cannot be seen in good faith. I have therefore blocked this account for 3 days. I have blocked your other account User:Jasonbroom indefinitely as it was used as a sockpuppet. After your 3 day block expires on this account, you may edit again using this account. If you have questions, do ask, as I can help explain our policies and guidelines if you are unsure about them. Dreamy Jazz talk to me | my contributions 22:45, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Dreamy Jazz. I accept the 3-day block. This whole incident taught me a valuable lesson. So I really want to make up for my actions by delivering useful contributions in the future. It would be great if you can mention some guidelines to get started with. --Ransara Jey (talk) 22:58, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I will leave a welcome notice below with a number of links to our key policies and guidelines. I will also include a template which contains links to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines in a table, which includes more policies and guidelines.
