Your note

[edit]

Thank you for your note, which helped me to identify and block an individual who was violating our policy on multiple accounts, as well as evading active sanctions. Wikipedia's administrators do many different tasks, some of which are outlined at Wikipedia:Administrators. Monitoring content to ensure that it meets our copyright policy and terms of use are an essential part of this, in order to keep our website compliant with the U.S. laws that govern us. We do not, however, block contributors for copying "a few sentences unwittingly from some book or website." It is our policy to warn contributors of our copyright policies on first instance, and we generally will warn more than once. It's unfortunate that some contributors persist in copying content after being advised of our policies, but when they do we are required by federal law of the United States to terminate their accounts. (See 17 U.S.C. § 512(i)(1)(A)). The preservation of the project in whole takes precedence, I'm afraid, if contributors refuse our efforts to get them to comply. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:17, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Annette Akroyd

[edit]

Hi there - thanks for taking the time to work on Talk:Annette Akroyd/Temp. I reviewed the new version and I don't think it avoids the problems in the original. While there are wording and syntax changes, the article still uses the same methods of creative expression as the sources. I suspect the only way that an article like this could be re-done is if it was re-done from scratch, rather the modifying the problematic text. Generally, modifying problematic text won't get the text far enough away from the original. I'm happy to help if you have any questions on this. In the meantime, I've deleted the original and the modification. Please let me know if you would like me to send you a list of the sources used for the original article. --Mkativerata (talk) 00:06, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
