TFW No GF

I don't understand your change to the TFW No GF hook and article. I changed both back. It's a quote and the director said that the film title is short for that feeling when [you've got] no girlfriend. None of the sources say that feeling when [you have] no girlfriend. Your change is less colloquial, but that makes it incorrect. SL93 (talk) 16:00, 4 July 2022 (UTC)

@SL93: Sure, I won't dispute your reversion (it's frankly a very minor thing), but the Variety source isn't employing a quotation in the sense of being someone's exact words, but instead as an expansion of the abbreviated documentary title. Under this sense, using the words "you have [got]" in square brackets conveys the same meaning as the cited source. Unless we know that Alex Lee Moyer explicitly has "you've got" in mind for the unabbreviated version, it isn't imperative that we follow the "quote" exactly, in my opinion. Other sources I've found (e.g. [1] or [2]) have instead used "you have" in their news reports. As I said, I don't really mind how we choose to phrase it, although as an encyclopedia we naturally tend to shy away from colloquial contractions. — RAVENPVFF · talk · 16:12, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
I guess I would be fine with it, but only if the cited source for that sentence mentions the other abbreviation. The Variety source says [you’ve got] . I wouldn't be so concerned with it if ERRORS wasn't a thing. I will add back your additions, but with a different source. SL93 (talk) 16:16, 4 July 2022 (UTC)

POTD

Hi. We have a shortage of voters for Featured Pictures and Adam Cuerden and I thought we should try to encourage others. Without voters, we will have fewer FPs from which to select POTD. Charlesjsharp (talk) 08:19, 9 July 2022 (UTC)

@Charlesjsharp: Certainly – I don't object in principle to including some sort of occasional statement at the end of blurbs to solicit FPC voting, but it would perhaps be better if this were first discussed somewhere. I've kept the appeal you included at the end of the 14 July blurb (with slight tweaks to the wording). — RAVENPVFF · talk · 21:03, 11 July 2022 (UTC)

Careful with this: It needs to have at least one line of the table before the first link, because of some weird Main Page CSS stuff. At the moment, it works correctly on mobile, but it can readily break. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8% of all FPs 22:07, 26 July 2022 (UTC)

@Adam Cuerden: Thanks – I did forget about that after it appeared at ERRORS last month. — RAVENPVFF · talk · 10:06, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
