Tip of the moment...
User scripts

Many different things on Wikipedia can be simplified, automated, or customized with user scripts. For example, you can create scripts to automate different vandalism warnings, perform an AfD nomination, or display the current time in a place of your choosing.

Many scripts have been written by Wikipedians, and are ready for you to make use of. To enable these pre-made scripts, simply paste them into your common.js file (a user's common.js is loaded regardless of which skin they are using). You may have to purge the page before the script will load for the first time.

To add this auto-randomizing template to your user page, use {{totd-random}}

Hi. :) I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know that I've removed the speedy template from this article. I've seen buildings interpreted as companies or groups of people, as with churches, but evidence of other articles on water locks suggests that these are rather treated rather as geographical articles. Since A7 is for non-controversial, clear-cut deletions only, I have defaulted to declining the speedy nomination. That said, I certainly agree with you that it doesn't indicate importance! Since some topics are considered important by default (articles on rivers, for instance), I had a look at the geography section on common outcomes for deletion debates to see if I could find precedent on water locks, but it doesn't seem to be specifically addressed. I've tagged it with the relevant wikiprojects, which may bring interested editors who can help determine if deletion should be pursued through other means. Meanwhile, of course, you may wish to pursue other deletion processes yourself. I've got this article watchlisted, as I am curious to know how water locks are handled. I've also watchlisted your page for a time. If you want to talk about it further, just drop me a note here. And thanks for keeping an eye out on article quality. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:34, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Great contributions!

Hello Ravichandar! How are you? I am also a Humanist. I think we have similar beliefs. I have seen your contributions and you have done a great job. Your contributions to the article History of the British salt tax in India are excellent. One thing: years are not wikilinked when alone. Guidelines recommend not wikilinking to years when they are alone, without specific context and rationale for linking to them. Hence it's "(1835)", not "(1835)". On the other hand, full dates should always be wikilinked so as to ensure the date will be rendered as formatted according to the reader's date preferences; hence, "(May 5, 1835)", not "(May 5, 1835)". Article Nacel: subject to speedy deletion

Dear Ravi,

How are you? I've seen that you had a look at my article on Nacel today. I've noticed that my article is subject to speedy deletion. I would like to contest this speedy deletion as I really want to write a short description of this organization, Nacel, active in language education all over the world. American High Schools in Minneapolis, Beijing or Korea are also part of this organization, so I think it may be of interest for Wikipedia users. This organization and the partner organizations of the Nacel network have sent millions of students since 1957 (date of creation) all over the world so I really think that it may be of interest for people learning languages to know about this network.

Another similar organization, EF Education, has also an article on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EF_Education. This organization also organizes language travels abroad and participate in language improvement and intercultural understanding.

I want to give information on the history of the organization and how language travels have been organized all over the world during the past 50 years. I would be happy if Wikipedia could keep this article online. I'm ready to make changes and add information on the text if needed, it's not a problem.

Thank you in advance,

Celinebarcelone (talk) 15:39, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Article language courses / subject to speedy deletion

Dear Ravi,

My article "language courses" has already been deleted but I don't understand why, as it is a description of what is a language course and it's very similar to another article of this field: language school : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Language_school.

I would like to describe in this article what is a language course, what is the content of a language course, what should a person interested in a language school expect to find, useful information etc... It will be a general description of a language course. I think that it could be of interest for many persons.

I'm ready to re-write the article if needed.

Please let me know your comments.

Kaadavarkon

Hi Ravi, I don't know why you had created the page Kaadavarkon to represent User:Kaadavarkon. The user had been reported by me and has already been banned as a sock puppet of Vyaghradhataki. Please check out the proper links before creating pages in future. Thanks. Shovon (talk) 20:55, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Melattur, Tamil Nadu)

Please do not move pages to nonsensical titles. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to learn more about moving pages, please see the guidelines on this subject. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Thank you.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. RavichandarMy coffee shop 17:34, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi. I am interested to help improve the article as far as I can. Regarding filmography, can you please find out a source where the films are listed? the article has WP:MoS issues, for example, the citation superscripts comes after the punctuation marks, not before. I can try to see these aspects. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 07:23, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Regarding the NPOV tag at Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam

You've placed a {{POV}} tag here but have not initiated a talk page discussion. What is the issue? I trust this is an oversight, however, please furnish an issue for discussion. It is my custom to remove POV tags that fail to raise specific, actionable items for I regard the lack of such as a frivolous and disruptive misuse of the tag. See {{POV}}. Take care. Gosgood (talk) 11:17, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Ditto Justice Party (India). What is the issue? What sort of actionable item do you propose to restore neutrality? These tags, at present cannot be acted upon because you are not furnishing specific, critical observations about how certain passages in the articles fail at taking a neutral, unbiased points of view. Please furnish specific, actionable advice on the talk pages or I will remove the tags as being frivolously applied. Thank you. Gosgood (talk) 19:26, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

AVM FA status

The fisrt step would be to have the article you have to have it peer reviewed. Then comes the FA review. Good luck. Taprobanus (talk) 20:15, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Re: Sachidananda Bharathi- I

Kunnuvarankottai village is now in Dindigul district (madurai district was divided into many smaller districts after 1965) and not as you have mentioned in the article "presently in Madura district" and it was in Madura district when this Biography was translated by R Krishnaswami iyer in 1965.

The pincode of this village is 624220.

Will you make the change or shall I make it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kbala1055 (talkcontribs) 02:25, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Website Admin Security.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Website Admin Security.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Polly (Parrot) 17:46, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
