Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Landshapes, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Moshi Moshi. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

DYK for Michael Richey (sailor)

[edit]

On 11 April 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Michael Richey (sailor), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that sailor and navigator Michael Richey was awarded the inaugural John Llewellyn Rhys Prize for literature in 1942? You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Account blocked as collateral damage - request for altering the block parameters for static IP block

[edit]

Hello, my account currently is blocked from editing when I'm doing WP-things at school (I'm a teacher and teaching what Wikipedia is and how it works is part some lessons), it is a collateral damage of the 1 year block against the IP-Adress 141.19.228.15.

This adress is a static IP, belonging to de:BelWü (the extended LAN of "Landeshochschulnetz Baden-Württemberg" in Germany), especially to the network of Mannheim University of Applied Sciences (see whois lookup): many schools and university facilities around Mannheim. In the German Wikipedia, we got the same vandalism problems with this IP-adress because it is the static IP to many schools and university facilities around Mannheim. In de:WP the IP is blocked, too, for 3 years but only as IP, not for autoconfirmed and confirmed users, see info on user page and block log.

So perhaps, you @Future Perfect at Sunrise: may alter the block in a way, that would allow again to edit with a registered account (see Wikipedia:Guide_to_appealing_blocks#Shared IP blocks/Range blocks)? That would be great - thanks in advance and regards --Rax (talk) 12:21, 16 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, sorry for the trouble. As far as I can tell though, the IP you mention is only soft-blocked already, so with your autoconfirmed account you ought to be able to edit normally. I also can't find an autoblock entry for your account in the current blocks list. Could you give it another try if you really can't edit now? Fut.Perf. 12:29, 16 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
ok - I will try again - on your talk page ;) (cause that didn't work few minutes ago) --Rax (talk) 12:33, 16 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
no - didn't work :-(, I got the following message:

Editing from 141.19.228.15 has been blocked (disabled) by Future Perfect at Sunrise for the following reason(s):

@Future Perfect at Sunrise: Block-Log entry is only: "blocked 141.19.228.15 (talk) with an expiration time of 1 year (account creation blocked)" - I think the entry "anon. only" (like here) is missing. --Rax (talk) 12:51, 16 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies; I was misreading the block log, it was indeed a hardblock. Unfortunately I also must have felt that hard block was necessary at the time I placed it, since one particularly annoying banned user seemed to be abusing the IP via throwaway sock accounts. For the time being, I've set your account to "IP-block-exempt" to allow you to edit. If you know of more wiedespread collateral damage, we might have to reconsider the situation, but at least for you the problem should be solved this way. Fut.Perf. 12:55, 16 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot! --Rax (talk) 12:58, 16 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
