Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Rbajaj20192019. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Robert Sprague, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. NJA (t/c) 14:39, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for edit warring, as you did at Robert Sprague. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  NJA (t/c) 14:54, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I work for Treasurer's office in Columbus Ohio and I am making these changes Rbajaj20192019 (talk) 14:58, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Nthep (talk) 15:08, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

I understand that I was blocked for editwar. I didn't do it on purpose. I work for Treasurer's office and I am doing changes as per their request. Someone kept on overwriting my work that's how it resulted in edit war. I won't do it again but I also would like to know how to publish my work without getting it reverted back

Decline reason:

Realistically, you can't because you've been violating WP:COI. Yamla (talk) 18:13, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

To add to this; Robert Sprague doesn't own the Wikipedia article about him, neither he nor you on his behalf/instructions get to control the content. If there are inaccuracies then say what they are and they can be examined, discussed and changed if necessary. Inaccuracies does not include material unfavourable to the subject especially where that content is supported by reliable sources. As far I can see your edits have been to remove sourced content and replace it with his own biography from [1] in contravention of the above - his biography on the Ohio gov site is hardly neutral. That couple with your admission that you work in his office gives you a massive Conflict of interest so you need to read and abide by Wikipedia policy on conflicts of interest.
