RfA thanks

Thank you for your Support on my recent nomination for adminship, which passed with a final tally of 89/1/1. If there's anything I can help with, then you know where to find me. Cheers.

vandalism

My edits were NOT vandelism. I just removed the mis. section because it judt didn't need to be there. It didn't not have useful info for the album and it just did not fit with the page.

You removed a paragraph without an edit summary. Real96 20:18, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

User:Tanitani warnings

This user is tediously going through and writing up the (vast) number of The Hardy Boys book series titles with minor plots. You mistook them for being nonsense articles and warned him. Would you be willing to remove those warnings? Thanks, and keep up the good work. --Auto(talk / contribs) 23:41, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

I actually started work on the MySpace Events article today, and I hope that it's already more presentable. I've removed numerous problems with tone, grammar, advertising, and fixed formatting issues. I'm interested in making this article acceptable, and I've listed out a few problems I found and ideas at the talk page. My next endeavor will be to correctly cite the references in-line with the content; that should be completed today. Please let me know what else needs to be done to the article, and I'll attempt to salvage it. Thanks! *Vendetta* (whois talk edits) 20:57, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Your semi-automated re-prod of CIAO! Festival

I noticed you re-added the {{dated prod}} template after the creator of the article removed it. Since WP:PROD allows for anyone to remove the {{dated prod}} if they object to deletion for any reason, please look carefully at future removals of the prod template and do not revert unless the removal is really not an objection to deletion; however most such removals are (from my own experience). If you really think the article should be deleted anyway, nominate it for AFD. Resurgent insurgent 08:39, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

It's vandalism if a user removed the speedy templates or the afd templates. Also, I was about to tag the article as db-adv, but I noticed that there was an existing template. So, I reverted it. Real96 19:13, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

It does so! I read the guidelines. My IP and my talk page. Why can't you guys just stop harassing me?67.163.193.239 22:52, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

239 is correct that you are technically allowed to remove comments from your account's user talk page. You are encouraged to archive and not delete, but it's not a strictly mandated policy. This even applies to good faith, valid warnings. All that said, it's quite rude to do so without good reason or explanation. Handled inappropriately, it could potentially violate Wikipedia:Civility. –Gunslinger47 23:23, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
In this case, the user's talk page guideline doesn't apply, since this is a dynamic IP. Real96 03:43, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
Ah, good point. :) –Gunslinger47 04:37, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

...however, this matter has been taken care of (due to archiving warnings). Thanks. Real96 04:18, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Safeway

I deleted the section based on the fact that one it is trivia and two its unencyclopedic as it is as it is written poorly and also a common practice everywhere for every business so it doesn't contribute much its just like when people complain about an article or section being ethnocentric expect its within one country. If we want a section like this we should rename it and it should have examples from more than DC and a mere mention it happens in San Fransisco. I am unsure this section is helpful though. Oh and I do have an account I just didnt realise i had logged out and i need to log back in lol I just was explaining my actions for the benefit of explanation im not going to repeat them but i will put it on the pages discussion page instead so someone else can figure it out because im not going to unilateraly remove something and I know I cant rework it to fit so I'll give someone else the chance 71.131.33.187 19:31, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Trivia sections are included in some articles, but not recommended. See WP:TRIVIA. Real96 19:50, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
I've always understood it as a don't use one unless you are using it as an expansion point as it talks about incorporating it into the articles main text when possible. But anyways the general Wikipedia population will be able to decide what to do with it I put a discussion page [[4]] on there and hopefully something will be done be it deletion or expansion or at least a broader understanding of what we should accept in here (even if its me who has to reinterpret the rules)(finally logged on-->)Shimonnyman 20:06, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Response

The media presence on campus has been noticeable since the comments were made. The Daily Targum, our student paper, as well as the state's largest paper The Star-Ledger have made several articles on it. I know that Imus came down, yesterday I believe, to personally apologize to the coach and the team. I doubt that the actual press is going to come on here to ask RU students about the situation. With regards to the link, feel free to add it on, it's an official response from University President McCormick after all.--Jersey Devil 17:39, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

help

hello. i'm semi-new to wiki. i LOVE it. i love reverting pages b\c of vandalism as well as writing articles.

i seem to be having a problem on porky pig's feat with the user thomas logan. we have reverted his posts several times. i have warned him, you have warned him and he just got warned by MartinBot who identified another post he made as vandalism.

i'm unsure how to proceed and would love to learn the steps. i checked out teh 'report abuse' page but it indicates that you shouldnt report the person there unless they have been blocked at least 5 times. so i was wondering where should i report him for the repeated vandalizing ?

It could have been made more clear by noting these things. There was nothing said that was uncivil. I cleared your comments because you seemed to misunderstand or confuse something (assuming that the changes were of quotes rather than comparing). No biggie, we're all human and again, I am sure I could have made it clear earlier but this stuff is far down my priorities. I would say it would help if you would check before speaking about "reporting" and "vandalism", that you might want to be sure to compare edits or send something sans that sort of language. Thanks for taking the time and effort.

Real 96 you are wrong, the pages wasn't blanked and this seems to have become an error that you are not correcting, retracting or making note of. There is no edit in the history of that article where the page was blanked or the quotes changed. Surely I didn't "blank" that page. You might want to take those comments down from this page, if only to not seem so off base. I hope you are not engaging in vandalism Real 96 because there is something of personal contention (in what is probably an objective article, haven't read the whole thing). I hope you are trying your best to make things better. I like your articles and I would be surprised if it was otherwise. Thanks!

First, please sign your posts. Second, you removed content without providing an edit summary. If you would have provided an edit summary of what you removed, I wouldn't have suspected what you were doing. You should have said "removed unsourced/original research" information. If you remove content from a page, that's considered vandalism. Thanks. Real96 14:57, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

The question is, will an unsuspecting FNORD FNORD FNORD Twinkle user be daft enough to revert it???????????????????????? I happen to agree with her on this point; I don't think that a simple link to a Myspace site is using Wikipedia as a social networking site. Veinor (talk to me) 21:31, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Personally, I feel that since Tay's page looks like a personal webpage, and not containing a brief overview of what she does on wikipedia (although, I admit, I have VANITY on my page). However, I am following WP:NOT#WEBSPACE and WP:PRIVACY on this case. Real96 21:34, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Send also a warning to User:Ned Scott as well. I find it unfair that he doesn't get a similar warning as well. Also, would it be okay if I add {{fact}} tags due to the numerous vioaltions of Wikipedia: verifiability per the dispute here? Am I permitted to do that??--293.xx.xxx.xx 05:40, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Please discuss the source of conflict on the talk page of the article. This will be the best thing to do. Real96 05:41, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

User Pages

hello ! we have been fighting vandalism and recently have been appearing on the same pages, reverting edits. thanks for the help in reverting \ warning. Yet i'm fairly new and have a question... a user has been warned 3 times (2 times by me) within the past 24-36 hours and he has reverted his page to not show the warning. I am positive this is not allowed, but is there any guildlines to when, if at all, they can revert their page to not show warning ? thank you for your time Matthew Yeager 15:11, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

as well as that, what type of warning should i give ? i looked at the choices... censorship ? userpage vandalism ? once again, thanks ! Matthew Yeager 15:19, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
Request for Page Protection. Real96 17:28, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
if i understand the protection levels correctly... i dont see how that helps ? fully would not allow anyone except admin to edit it (this is a problem if other editors need to warn him), semi would still allow him to edit it (right ? cause thats just against new users or ips) and move(which doesnt apply) unless i should have it fully protected and then have editors request an admin to warn him, if needed ? Matthew Yeager 17:40, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
You can request for full protection, but I would just leave it alone, since we and the admins know that he is indefinitely blocked. Real96 17:42, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
this was for a different user User talk:Zdp0178 he is not blocked...... yet Matthew Yeager 17:51, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

WP:BLP

Hello,

I am beginning to wonder why I am getting so much attention lately. My name is Scott Woeckel. It was brought to my attention that I have a wikipedia citation. Why? Not sure, but I think it's a bit much and to be honest, I do not feel that I belong in an encyclopedia! I hope the editors here understand and will allow this deletion.

Sincerely,

Scott Woeckel

I will report the incident on the BLP board. Real96 01:08, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Are you serious about leaving or thinking about leaving wikipedia, you are an excellent editor, in three months you amasses about 7000 edits and you are on of the best vandal fighters with an excellent policy knowledge, their is no need to leave, I hope you reconsider and decide not to leave.Tellyaddict 17:20, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Help reqd.

Well I hadn't realised you needed the actual question there already, I assumed it was just a call for attention, to see who was willing/available! Anyway.. my question is, do you know why my left-hand nav frame would be missing in Firefox browser but still available in iExplorer? This has happened only recently - I'd estimate within the last few hours really. I had suspected my monobook script as having been vandalised, but it appears untouched.

Any ideas? Cheers. --Mal 05:58, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

I'm not a techie. However, looks like someone answered the question. Real96 08:40, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Help

Thanks for your welcome message. I've been reading extensively all those helpful pages, but it's a bit overwhelming! There's just so much stuff! What are the 3 or 4 most important basic things that I need to know? Specifically: how do I register as a contributer to Wiki Wine Project? The other contributer is the box have all sorts of weird code/brackets/time stamps/asterisks/etc !!! how ddoes one type the tilde mark on the keyboard? Sorry to be such a bore! Don't even know if this is the right place to be asking all this! :( — Preceding unsigned comment added by BodegasAmbite (talkcontribs)

Sure, see the five pillars in your introduction. But, in my own opinion, the most important rules are: notability, attribution, no original research, cite your sources, don't disrupt Wikipedia to make a point, along with the occasional tone of civilty that users need to have. Real96 11:02, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
I posted information about the wine project on your page. Just follow the links and they should give you instructions on how to sign up for the project. Also, if you have any technical needs, go here. Also, have you ever thought of being adopted? Real96 11:08, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for updating the defcon meter. However, I kindly ask that you do not name any specific vandals or abusive sock creators on such a widely visible template. These abusive editors are generally doing it for the attention, and giving it to them will just make it worse. deny recognition and dont feed the trolls. Thanks! -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 13:41, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

In my humble opinion, my decision was correct in updating WP:DEFCON. Feeding the trolls is not applicable to this situation because, 1.) Oompapa does not have access to WP:DEFCON and 2.) Mr. Oompapa is a high alert vandal, and 3.) comments concerning high alert vandals such as Oompapa are crucial in attaining a quick response. Previous to your complaint, the WP:DEFCON alert has mentioned Oompapa's name at least three times, shown here - by Misza13, here, by RV and here, by Zero. Also, I have altered WP:DEFCON for three months. I pretty much know what I am doing. Cheers! Real96 18:58, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
First off, i apoligize if I implied that you do not know what you are doing. I believe you very well do. In regards to the defcon meter, I have posted a thread at WP:ANI here asking for community input on this issue. Thank you for addressing your concerns. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 19:05, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
Okay, I will add my two cents to the discussion. Noticing from your userbox, I am glad that you are okay! Have you thought about adding a ribbon to your userpage? Sorry for being harsh, but I read your note in the morning hours and hadn't had my coffee, yet. Real96 01:57, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Dear Real96, Thank you for your message concerning the article Copt. I have put a lot of effort and work into the article and found that User:Egyegy simply discredits everything I do by reverting my edits back. I have supplied my info with sources, and even agreed to reach certain consens on certain issues. I also extended an invitation on the talk page to discuss the issues of mutual disagreement. All I got back with additional deletion of my work! I had to continue reverting my work back. Any advise about needs to be done in this case? Thanks. --Lanternix 03:03, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
