Category:Second-generation jet fighters[edit]

Hi there. I noticed you created Category:Second-generation jet fighters and are populating it. Awhile back we had some categories like this and they were, following discussion (example), depopulated and deleted as the "generations" of fighters is a marketeering-speak thing that companies use to try to get militaries to buy the new shinies; it was never mentioned historically (basically Lockheed Martin's marketing wonks dreamed up calling the F-22 a "fifth generation" fighter for the reasons mentioned above) and it is both not defining for the aircraft in question and is vaguely-broad especially for the first three "generations". Your enthusiasm for the subject is commendable but given the history of the terminology and the existing consensus I'd like to ask if you'd mind reverting this and letting the category be deleted? - The Bushranger _{One ping only} 23:35, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
