Since you were not formally welcomed,

Welcome, from Journalist
Welcome to Wikipedia!

Hello Rebel.crusader. My name is Orane (but I go by the name 'Journalist' on Wikipedia) and I am one of Wikipedia's Administrators. I just stopped by to say Hi and to formally welcome you to Wikipedia. Thank you for your awesome contributions so far. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. I know that being here for the first few days may be a bit confusing, but you'll get used to it pretty soon.

Here are a few good links for newcomers. I know that they can be boring, but I recommend that you take a look at them:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! You can come to my talk page if you have any questions. If Im online, I will definitely respond. If I'm offline, you can go to Wikipedia:Where to ask a question. Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Again, welcome! Come say Hi!

Now that I've welcomed you, lets discuss your edits to the aforementioned page. I think that you should read some of Wikipedia's policies before you continue to edit pages. First off, you keep reverting my edit, replacing it with an intro that reads that "she is reputed by some to be unequaled vocally, largely due to her abilities to imitate instrumentation and even birds, even by current contemporaries". There are over 100 things wrong with this statement, the most important of which I will attempt to discuss below:

  1. The statement is not cited. According to our official policies, you should Cite your sources, so others can check your work. Can you find an authoritative source to support such a point that she is "unequalled vocally"?
  2. The point is considered a violation of our official NPOV policy, which states that an article should be free of bias (this statement is related to the above point). If you cannot find a reputable source that she is unequalled vocally, then it might be construed as your opinion, which does not belong in the article because (as I've already said) it goes against the NPOV policy.
  3. By writing that Minnie is "reputed by some", you also violate Wikipedia's policy of avoiding weasel terms. You cannot say that she is "reputed by some". It raises the following questions: Who thinks that she is so great? When did they think that? Are they expert and authoritative enough that Wikipedia would want to quote their opinion? What grounds do they have to think this? And so on. Again, it ties in with my first point.

I'm not disputing whether or not she can imitate instruments or whatever. My point is that highly biased (and dubious) statement that she is regarded as an unparalled singer does not belong in the article unless it can be sourced (more than one source would be necessary here).

I will once again remove the pov claim to make the article more encyclopedic. If you have any concerns, you can leave a message on my talkpage, the talk-page of the article, or you can simply reply here. However, do not just revert people's edits; it is considered unproductive. Thank you. Oran e (t) (c) (e) 04:37, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ingrown Toenail[edit]

Hi there. I'm just curious, now. Do you or does someone you love have an ingrown toenail?DocEss 16:16, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi; as one of the editors responsible for the ingrowing toe-nail article, my advice to you is to stop messing about with it, and go see a doctor who is prepared to remove the nail totally and ablate the nail-bed to prevent it from re-growing.

Free advice - you can't get that in America!--Anthony.bradbury 23:51, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Did ya get it fixed yet? You've not responded on Wiki to our commentary - this wouldn't be because you are too busy poking and prodding with metal tools, lapping up puss and blood with cotton products, soaking your foot in hot water and salts, lying on the floor with your feet in the air, habitually eating analgesics, looking at it hourly.....etc? Go Doctor; get FIXED!DocEss 18:11, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jessye Norman[edit]

Stevie Wonder is the youngest person to recieve the Kennedy Center Honor; not Ms.Norman. Mr.Wonder was 49 in 1999 when he got it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.95.82.116 (talk) 10:28, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, Rebel. I just got your message. I haven't made a single edit to Wikipedia since the snarfu back in August of 2006. But anyway, how are you. I guess I can get back into the fold. Anyway, e-mail me at my email address (its at my username Antares33712)  :-D —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.37.48.198 (talk) 20:01, 5 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
