Gibraltar motto

[edit]

Hello. I'd just like to point out that "Montis Insignia Calpe" is in fact the motto of the coat of arms of Gibraltar, not Gibraltar itself. Kind regards, RedCoat10talk 16:28, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages by deliberately introducing incorrect information, as you did to Gibraltar, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Dave ♠♣♥♦1185♪♫™ 18:32, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

with all due respect the incorrect information is the one being posted by Red coat. my information is the generally accepted one as published in the Gibraltar Government's own website. Nulli Expuganbilis Hosti IS the motto of the Gibraltar Regiment and also used in one particular badge of Gibraltar that did not have the castle and key but rather a stylised drawing of the Rock. Montis Insignia Calpe ahs ALWAYS been used as the motto of the Rock and is the correct one. It is Recd coat who should be receivig the warning; not me! Hi. I'd just lite to point out that nowhere on the Government of Gibraltar's website does it say that "Montis Insignia Calpe" is the actual motto of Gibraltar, but rather that it is used in its coat of arms. I'd also like to remind you to please remain civil. Regards, --Gibmetal 77talk 19:30, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Generally speaking if a country uses a motto on its coat of arms then that is the motto of the country. Civility it is, I agree. Red dragon rock (talk) 21:43, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

LAST WARNING

[edit]

Knock it off (this edit is obnoxious and you know it~!), you have been warned before not to re-introduce the same factual error I've warned you against. Pending the outcome of discussion on the article's discussion page, and as a measure of fairness to all parties, nobody is allowed to make the disputed edit, period. Continue to do this again and you may find yourself facing the consequences. Take heed. --Dave ♠♣♥♦1185♪♫™ 01:23, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry Dave, but I find it totally unfair. Whilst the topic is under discussion then both points of view should be supported and thus both mottoes displayed. I still maintain my version is correct and thus I feel I deserve the same respect as RedCoat gets. Just because his version got on first does not make it correct. I think this dispute wold be resolved simply by requesting the Gib Govt to make a definitive statement on the issue. I will be making a request to the right department this coming week and will relay the reply to you ASAP. Red dragon rock (talk) 13:55, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Red dragon. Just FYI, it is common practice to keep the section of the article that is being discussed as is until said discussion is over. Regards, --Gibmetal 77talk 14:37, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Folks, I just got verification of my correction I made back in 2009 and was lambasted on all sides! I was right, the Chief Minister of Gibraltar, The Honourable Mr Fabian Picardo, has confirmed by a message exchange that the motto for Gibraltar IS indeed 'Montis Insignia Calpe' and not 'Nulli Expugnabilis Hosti' which is, and has always been, the motto of the RGR! The message exchange can be viewed if you wish or I can paste it here. Red dragon rock (talk) 19:32, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
