Information icon Hello Redolta. Thanks for patrolling new pages – it's a very important task! I'm just letting you know, however, that you shouldn't tag pages as lacking context (CSD A1) and content (CSD A3) moments after they are created, as you did at Barry Wilmont CV. It is also suggested that pages that might meet CSD A7 criteria not be tagged for deletion immediately after they are created. It's usually best to wait at least 10–15 minutes for more content to be added if the page is very short, and the articles should not be marked as patrolled. Tagging such pages in a very short space of time may drive away well-meaning contributors, which is not good for Wikipedia. Attack pages (G10), blatant nonsense (G1), copyright violations (G12) and pure vandalism/blatant hoaxes (G3) should of course be tagged and deleted immediately. Thanks. 331dot (talk) 14:42, 1 May 2016 (UTC)

Vandalism at Battle of Ia Drang

Hi, thank you for reverting this vandalism with "the blink of an eye" here. You might have noticed that this editor has switched from 222.252.55.135. He had also used 222.252.32.116,123.24.194.104, 113.190.172.153, 180.148.2.189, and 113.190.165.78 and might use them again. Thanks again.Tnguyen4321 (talk) 05:40, 16 May 2016 (UTC)

Vandalism at Lynch Architects

Hi Redolta I'm Dr Patrick Lynch of Lynch architects and I'm trying to update the webpage of my practice Lynch architects adding new publications and links to new articles about our work. Can you please stop blocking our changes? Many thanks Patrick — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.41.64.144 (talk) 12:22, 27 May 2016 (UTC)

I read your comment on my talk page, and I will stop reverting your edits for the mean time. However, I would like to clarify that you are removing references while editing the Lynch Architects page, and it needs to stop. If you could contribute to the article without removing refrences, then it would very much be appreciated. Anyways, I'm so sorry for the accidental reverts (you are the first occasion of me mistaking a new user as a vandal), and I will let you continue your edits as long as you don't remove refrences and make yourself look like a vandal (the reason for this is because of your massive removal of refrences might make you look like a vandal). Thank you for the heads up, though! Redolta (talk) 12:36, 27 May 2016 (UTC)

Distancetopleiades

hey redolta, not sure why you reversed various changes I made correcting biographical material for several authors'/living persons' based on much more updated material than what the current wikipedia pages have (which are really dated by the way, for example Rita Wong has by now published way more than 2 books). Most of the edits I've made to the various pages (including Harsha Walia, Rita Wong, Proma Tagore) is based on their own published bios, and I have also provided reference links, for example where they describe where they are currently resising as "Coast Salish Territories" not "Canada." This is quite substantial, I would think, to get the place of residence of an author or living person correct for wikipedia for it to be accurate? I'm assuming wikipedia aims to be accurate. I'm definitely not as technically savvy as you though, I am sure, when it comes to editing articles and navigating this whole thing, but I am knowledgeable as to the accuracy of the specfic changes I've made. Also I agree with the comment below about you being very hasty in making changes; it does not really lead to much open, democratic discussion, or for other people to comment, edit, add, delete, agree or disagree, does it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Distancetopleiades (talkcontribs) 00:08, 1 June 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for informing me, on your good faith edits. I really appreciate you edits (I will blame myself for not having good faith), although you have been triggering several edit filters during the process. You have been removing references, and also removed categories from articles (I assume you did not intend to do it, I am pretty strict when a person triggers an edit filter). If you could do edits without triggering more edit filters, than it will be good. Sorry for the confusion, and thank you for informing. Redolta (talk) 01:49, 1 June 2016 (UTC)
By the way, when commenting on my talk page, please don't put it on top of the talk page, create a new section below the most recent talk. You can do this by clicking "New Section"

beside "Edit Source" and "View History".

deletion of a certain template [instance] seems to be long overdue

As of the date of this comment (June 13, 2016, -- when this section was created), the page Portal:2010s still contained a template whose wikitext was represented as follows:

{{Under construction|notready=true}}

... and that template [instance] expands to say [something like] this:

((except that, of course, it says "this portal" instead of "this user talk page")).

Is it me? ...or is the removal of that template long overdue? (Notice that) The "expansion" contains the advice that

"If this portal has not been edited in several days, please remove this template."

! <--(exclamation point!)

... and, according to the "History" page -- which iirc that "expansion" [expanded version] of the template instance contains a link to -- there have been ZERO edits to that portal [page] since that template [instance] {{Under construction|notready=true}} was added [by you?] (at 11:55, on 4 April 2016‎). That was more than 2 months ago.

Shouldn't someone delete that template [instance] now?

Actually, I started to edit the "Talk:" page Portal_talk:2010s to add this question there... but then when I saw how far past the nominal "deadline" it was (2 months), I thought that it would be better to include some notification to you, so that you would [probably] read my comments.

Then, I realized that this might well be handled better without ANY edits to the "Talk:" page Portal_talk:2010s -- just a message to you [e.g., "here"] instead. (right?)

In fact, I would be OK with it, 100%, if this entire section were to be deleted, once it is not needed any more. (instead of, say, just adding a template instance saying

{{resolved|"Case Closed"}}

or something like that).

A reply would be appreciated. --Mike Schwartz (talk) 09:57, 13 June 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for noting me on the 2010s portal. I haven't been working on there a lot recently, so I guess it's OK to remove the template. However, I would still mark the article with the following notice:

That is what I have used on the 2000s portal (the portal which I work on more frequently). Thank you for the heads up, and have a great day. Redolta (talk) 15:14, 13 June 2016 (UTC)

Rollback granted

Hi Redolta. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Widr (talk) 21:19, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

Information icon Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. 220 of Borg 15:51, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

Brandon Rogers article

Hello, thanks for writing this article! I’ve just read it and I’m a bit concerned that it has no citations to reliable sources such as newspapers, news websites and academic journals. That worries me since without proof that this person is notable, meaning covered enough in media to write a fair article on them, the article may get deleted.

Are there any reliable sources (ones not written by or for this person) you can add? If so just edit the article and add citations using the cite tool, or if you have any thoughts or questions just let me know. Blythwood (talk) 16:38, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

I will nominate the article for deletion, because this article IMO isn't the best I did (I am proud I created an article with over 5,000 characters, but it's pretty bad for a BLP). I did in fact have doubts when creating the article, and it will be removed from Wikipedia until more legit sources pop up. Thank you, and have a nice day. Redolta📱 Contribs 17:39, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
OK, thanks. In my experience, it's best to find sources before you begin writing anything, as deciding whether an article is going to be practical to write is a good first step in order to avoid wasting time on something that isn't going to be publishable. TAFI

If you find time for it, could you please review my nom at TAFI for Vicki Gunvalson.--BabbaQ (talk) 17:56, 15 July 2016 (UTC)

Reviewed, and I support the nomination due to the low amount of references in a rather popular BLP article. Many people also may know this person, aminly in fact that she is a main character of The Real Housewives of Orange County. Congrats on finding a good article for TAFI, and have a nice day. Please adopt me

Please accept me as your student in Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit/Academy. Please reply soon Thanks. Nepali keto62 Questions?!?!? 09:56, 17 July 2016 (UTC)

I cannot adopt you for the CVUA, you will have to ask either Titodutta, Omni Flames, User:Music1201, or DatGuy. These users are trainers for the CVUA (and I'm currently a student in CVUA ATM). Ask one of these four people about enrolling into CVUA, and depending on your time zone, your instructor may be different. If none of these time zones match up to you, choose the closest time zone offered (example: If you live in London, have DatGuy be your instructor, or if you live in Seattle or Vancouver, have Music1201 be your instructor). As of when I'm signing this, you have enough mainspace edits to become a student (the minimum is 200, when I'm signing this you have 208 mainspace edits). Thank you, and have a nice day. Disambiguation link notification for August 1

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Polonia, Texas, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Caldwell County. Hi

Could you please take a look at the article Gunnila Bernadotte. It was redirected on in my opinion weak grounds today.I have contested the redirect. And it is discussed at the bottom of Talk:Carl Johan Bernadotte. Atleast take a look whatever position you take on the matter. Regards,--BabbaQ (talk) 18:46, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

@BabbaQ: sorry for not responding earlier, but I am not taking sides on this merge, mainly for two strong reasons. The first reason (supporting the merge) would be because the article has only one or two sentences describing the Swedish countess, with the rest describing family members. There is not even a sentence stating about her death, the only thing related to that is the first sentence only stating when she died "crammed" into the intro sentence. However, the second reason (opposing the merge) would be because many state she is an important Swedish countess. I know almost nothing about Swedish government (except that the Swedish King is Carl XVI Gustaf), so I really can't pinpoint how evident she is... but my only evidence of big notability is here, showing big notability with high page views. You may use this link to oppose the merge to show separate independent notability. Thank you for understanding my views, and have a nice day. Redolta📱 Contribs 14:49, 18 September 2016 (UTC)

Sourcing

Just remember that every paragraph of information has to be sourced. If you're writing text it needs to be verifiable. Before you submit, scan the article, make sure there's nothing unsourced, and all sources are filled out with publisher title and dates, and that length is simply over 1.5 kb readable prose and you'll get the contest credits approved asap :-) In some cases it is better to deleted the article and restart from scratch using proper sourcing.♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:26, 19 October 2016 (UTC)

@Dr. Blofeld: Thanks for giving the brief description on sourcing. It really helps, and I will try and use these tactics in the future. Oh, one more thing, can you recheck Catholic University of South Sudan and check Jubek State for WP:TAD? Again, thanks! Redolta📱 Contribs 17:39, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
