You've changed "International Computers Ltd" to "International Computers Ltd.". However, I don't think either is correct. I believe the holding company was called "ICL Plc", and the main operating company was called "International Computers Limited".

Kefford

Hi,

I noticed you changed the entry for 'Kefford Corporation' to 'Kefford' using the naming rules policy.

The full name of the company is actually 'Kefford Corporation Pty. Ltd.' and the shortened name should be 'Kefford Coporation' not 'Kefford'. The naming conventions are different in Australia to the US.

My issue is that it was never discussed. Yes you might have discussed it on the other template, but was any attempt made to notify that their was a discussion on the status of the template, no, their is nothing on the the talk page of this template to alert those who have it on the watch list that their was a discussion also they was no attempt that i can see to put a notification on any of the pages that use the template, nor was their an attempt that ii can see to notify any of the editors of the template, nor was their an attempt to make notify that their was a discussion on a related noticeboard WP:IWNB that would say their was a discussion was under way. No one would know that their was until the deprecation tag was added, which then only signifies that a decision has been made, but with out the idea of trying to at least get opinions by the editors and other that might have an interest on the template. Also on the tfd, how am i supposed to know that their was such a discussion, consider that the template was never tagged with a tfd nor was a notice placed on the talk page of the template, non of the editors were notified, nothing on the notice board. So i consider the deprecation of the template as invalid, an will continue to due to the subversion of process. You know you don't want people to act like their are cabals, but it really hard to do that when activities like cabals are allowed to happen. I thnak you for understanding my point. Personaly i am discourage by the numerious back-door and underhanded activites that happen here, i would like to think that this is a colberative project in which various editors should be brought together to help creat a better encyclpedia then the few making decisions with out trying to get at least the minium input from creaters of other works that are sought to be replaced. Considering that i was aware of said template since before it's inception, in the assistance of it's inital creator with it's creation, the decidion to me came as a supprise. I would have no problem in working on a way to create a better tempalte, i do still reserve to the right, to fork. As for me, i am still fighting my fights, including a similar one at Guinness regarding mergeing pages based off a tfd, as well as numerious other things tyat more then keep my busy, and backloged. Administrator Coaching The Administrator Coaching program is a program aimed at preparing Wikipedians for Adminship or helping them understand the intricacies of Wikipedia better. Recently, changes have been made to the requirements of coachees. Please review them before requesting this service. This would be something like the Welcoming Committee, but for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. Some might like suggestions about how to learn vandal patrol, or mentoring on taking an article to featured status, or guidance with a proposal they plan to make at the Village Pump, for example. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins. Naming Conventions - Corporations

Looks like you're doing excellent work on getting these sorted - I stumbled across one and found your list while dealing with its links. I just wonder about Corporations - Bose list their name as "Bose Corporation" on their website, we've got them now at Bose Corp., but perhaps something like Bose (audio) would be better? - I was under the impression that disambig by activity was preferable to by legal status - I recon there is just something not quite right about "Corp." in a title. Just some thoughts really, incidently if you let me know how you keep track of that list I'll jump in after my finals. Ian3055 22:32, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

I was working from the convention, my logic being that there was no need for disambiguation so there was no need to include the legal status of the firm. The firm seems to use TVB as its acronym, which doesnt imply the need to keep the 'Limited', I simply sliced it off on the basis that it was the legal status of the firm. Double Live article move

While I don't have a problem with the article move (there's no question that Garth Brooks is more internationally famous and notable than Rheostatics), the next time you move an existing article like that could you please correct any inbound links that point to the old article at the time? I've only just discovered the move now; the links that were intended to point to the Rheostatics album have now been pointing at the wrong article for over two months. Politecnico di Milano

Hi,

I've noticed you moved the Politecnico di Milano page to an english translation. This is incorrect. "Politecnico di Milano" does not have - intentionally - an english version of its name. The english name is "Politecnico di Milano" Technical University, that's it. I feel it grossly uncorrect to move such a page to a wrong name just to follow a standard... not every place and organization in the world has an english version of its name.

We do not write "Polytechnic University" anywhere in our bios, our papers, or elsewhere... so I feel it uncorrect to see the page under this name on Wikipedia. Please, move it back !

I endorse this argument. And frankly, if the goal as vowed in WP:Use_English is easier reachability, then coining new names by transilteration of entities which are historically renowned with their own name appears to be very pointless and counterproductive.

ARM Ltd

Okay so I've been doing a bunch and even finding missing ones that aren't on the list if that's okay. But once they are done they won't show up in any searches unless you capitalize properly and put the words in exact order so it's kind of worthless. Is there a way to fix this? Missing album articles Wikiproject

I think that it'd probably be a good space-saving idea to move the missing album articles into at least two seperate categories. Again, it saves space, but it also makes it easier for people like me to see which articles need to be updated and which need to be removed. After all, if they're all lumped into one category, then some can be accidentally skipped over. Eyeball kid 20:16, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Template changes

I know "Be Bold" is a good motto, but sometimes it is possible to act too fast. Removing a template variable which is in use might have been a little hasty in my view, especially with the history of the heated tfd debate. Also, the new template was designed to superceed the existing one, so removing information that was in the original is bound to upset people. I voted to support the depreciation, so long as the transfer was "without loss", so I am also somewhat concerned at what happened. I do also wonder, looking at the lengthy infobox, with its variants for head/colo(u)rs, etc, that it is becoming a Jack of all trades, master of none. Standardization to a common template is good, but is only possible if there is a common standard to adhere to, it might turn out in the long run to return to separate specialised templates if the unified one gets too complex. Copyrighted Image

You removed an image that you said was copyrighted on the nudity page. May I ask your source of the copyright information you found on the image and how it does not constitute as fair use?

I'm afraid that you have it in reverse. You need to show that images you uploaded are acceptable within wikipedia, which is very unlikely because they are professional models and the photographer still retains copyright on the images. I have made up a new list of full-service/class-A US television stations, called User:Alexdw/StationCounting. I have limited the scope in this way so it would only contain notable or semi-notable stations. Not a perfect method, but it was fairly easy to do. I hope to use this list to update the TV station list further, and to get an accurate count of TV stations in the US (for the progress table). -- AlexDW 18:50, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

A short Esperanzial update

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Catholic Encyclopedia Project

I just wanted to say that I thought the idea of entering the articles from the Catholic Encyclopedia into Wikipedia was an excellent idea, but I had one worry. Articles from the original Catholic Encyclopedia are being copied, however, the Catholic Encyclopedia was extensively revised and updated recently. The changes are quite significant, especially in the areas relating to historical research. The updated encyclopedia is not yet in the public domain, so using the slightly outdated articles from the original edition may still be a better idea that having no entry at all. I just wanted to put this issue on your radar screen. Thanks,

Homefront

You (moved Homefront (BBC TV show) to Homefront (TV series): Wikipedia:Naming conventions (television))

The naming conventions page reads:

"Additional disambiguation

Use the following when there are two or more television productions of the same name.

   * Prefix the country of broadcast - (US TV series)

   (write US without periods as per WP:NCA, and "US" is preferred over "USA".

   * Prefix the network identification - (BBC TV series)"

One show was designated as "BBC", the other as "American". You then switched it so that the British one appears to be "normative" - Homefront (TV show). In other words, you went against your own reference. You could have changed it to (ABC TV Series) and (BBC TV Series) or (UK TV Series) and (US TV Series). The "American" has been changed to "US" - fine - but the other is back to a non-matching naming convention. The British series still appears to be the default option. Why did you switch it, when the conventions are to designate multiple TV productions - not singular - with prefixes?

Admittedly, it *would* be a minor issue... but the whole point is to make it easier for Americans to find the article about their show. Originally, the disambiguation page for "Homefront" had nothing about it at all, just the British series. Now it's back to a similar situation, making the page more problematic for people seeking the American show. The whole purpose of the naming conventions are to make things easier for readers. Newcastle Port Corporation calls itself exactly that. Not Newcastle Port Corp., and not Newcastle Port. This is clear from their website and media coverage.

The convention you cite says "...unless company literature and logos clearly shows a preference for the unabbreviated title (CBS Corporation). ... Also, "corporation" may be part of the company title rather than its official legal status (Birla Corporation)."

It's a list of notable songs that are either missing an article or an infobox, however, this list does not include (obviously) any song released after you created it.

Would it be possible you think if you can give it an upgrade? I do not know how about you would go about doing it but if you are free I wouldnt mind looking at an update of the varioys stats. Also do you think you can add in those tables where you can change the order of the listings based on a particular column (e.g. ascending/descending for "names")
