Deletion discussion about Bangladeshi Ambassador to Germany

[edit]

Hello, Regesta,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Bangladeshi Ambassador to Germany should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bangladeshi Ambassador to Germany .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks, TheLongTone (talk) 13:54, 30 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Timothy Joseph Horan

[edit]

Hi Regesta,

Great work you've been doing on the Irish diplomat articles! I found a small problem on the Timothy Joseph Horan article however. In the infobox details it states birth and death dates that indicate he died at 19! The link you provided to Who's Who lists his years as 1912-1975. Do you happen to have the exact dates so we can replace them in the infobox?

A couple of other things to consider:

  • Usually wikipedia articles about people just use Firstname Surname (without the middle name) on the basis that this is what the people are most commonly known by. For example Mary Tinney rather than Mary Catherine Tinney, and so on. It's not a huge problem, just letting you know what the convention seems to be if you want to make more of these articles. I think in general they are easier to find like that.
  • Also, the wikipedia manual of style tends to prefer prose over lists, unless there is a specific reason for a list. In a biography, for example, prose describing someone's work history gives us as much space as we need to add more details, or lump things together better. I'm working on the Timothy Horan one now, but just for future reference, if you can please start the article off in prose, it will save someone cleanup later.

Cheers, and happy editing! Jdcooper (talk) 21:26, 15 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your article about Baha Toukan. I have tagged it for needing more sources and to edit the article so that it is in prose rather than a resume-like list.

A tool to find sources is Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Particularly good places to start are NYT (New York Times), news, newspapers, and HighBeam. The WP reference (custom search) is also good. If you have any questions about reliable secondary sources, or anything else about the article, please feel free to post a message at The Teahouse or on my talk page.
