vortex ring state - radio control multi-rotors and helicopters[edit]

For the aerobatic multi-rotors as well as radio control helicopters, with a thrust to weight ratio of 3 to 5, powering out of vortex ring state is not an issue. In the case of 3d aerobatic helicopters, they pretty much go into and out of vortex ring state when doing tic tocs. I've see both rc mutli-rotors and helicopters descend at great speed, and instantly recover and climb again under power. The wiki article cites a reference that states it take about twice the power to hover in order to power out of vortex ring state, but despite the obvious fact that having 3 to 5 times the power it takes to hover should be enough to power out of vortex ring state, some at Wiki state this would be original research (basic math isn't allowed?). So I'm trying to find some citable reference to use for this. Powering out of vortex ring state is mentioned at a few RC forums, but those can't be used as references.
