Conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Reinarvega. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 05:08, 29 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • It looks like you are the director of Baraha. I would like to request that you stop trying to add it to the mainspace on Wikipedia for the time being. Not only is there a concern over a conflict of interest, but the problem is that I don't see where your film passes notability guidelines per WP:NFILM. I don't see where your film received any coverage in reliable sources. I also have some concerns that this might be a bit of self promotion, but what concerns me the most is that in one section you wrote about how the film was declined at a film festival. The section seemed a little angry, like you're upset with the film festival for not taking your movie and as such came across as disparaging towards the film festival. This is part of the reason why it's discouraged for people to edit pages you have a conflict of interest with, as it's very easy for personal emotions to come through in the writing. I know that this might seem upsetting, but right now your movie just doesn't pass notability guidelines. This is very, very normal for student films, as most never gain coverage in reliable sources. But we can't have an article until the movie has gained that coverage. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 05:17, 29 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Recreation of pages

[edit]

I've salted the page to prevent re-creation. Please stop trying to add the film to Wikipedia. It doesn't pass notability guidelines and looks like it will be unlikely to have any notability in the future. We can only have articles for films if the film passes our notability guidelines. Any other reason does not suffice. If you continue to re-add the film then you will run the risk of getting temporarily or permanently blocked for disruption. Repeatedly adding something you are personally involved in can also be seen as spam. Please do not re-add this film to Wikipedia for the time being. It's just far too soon for this to have an entry.
