Welcoming my own self to Wikipedia, bla bla!

Undoing my edits?

[edit]

Why are you undoing my edits as if they are vandalism? Gary King (talk) 17:50, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You seem to me to be making a lot of edits and reversions based on your personal opinions without much consideration of the actual policy that underlies the edits or for the generally-accepted process of forming consensus on the articles' associated talk pages. If you'd like your second week as a "vandal fighter" on Wikipedia to be less contentious and more effective than your first, I'd recommend that you attain a more secure grasp of Wikipedia's policies and try harder to work with others. Best of luck with your future endeavours here. Accounting4Taste:talk 18:02, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

And you are now dangerously close to being blocked for infringing the three-reversion rule, with which I also suggest you make yourself immediately familiar. Accounting4Taste:talk 18:04, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thankyou FeydHuxtable. Renkaw Gib (talk) 19:14, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This gets better, Jade Goody is a celeb and Nadine Coyle isn't???????????????

That's ALL Goody was; Coyle is independently notable. I advise you to read WP:POINT before you are blocked. Rodhullandemu 19:33, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Celebrities

[edit]

Look, I actually have a lot of sympathy with your frustration, and I have little or no time for people who are so useless that the only thing you can call them is a "celebrity", but they do exist. We have a policy called WP:POINT, and I think you're in danger of falling foul of it and getting yourself a block, which is a shame, because I believe you're actually trying to edit in good faith. The people whose articles you're changing already have descriptions in their lead section, so adding "celebrity" to them as an adjective really doesn't add much, except to show you're trying to make a point. It says a great deal about Ms Goody that the only way to describe her is a "celebrity". Can't you let this drop? Karenjc 19:34, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes thanks KarenJC, I'm so at risk of being blocked and yes it was all good faith. Thanks for the encouraging words. I'll take my edits elsewhere from now. Renkaw Gib (talk) 19:42, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You have been blocked from editing for a short time to prevent further disruption caused by your engagement in an edit war. During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below.

Take this 24 hour block as an opportunity to reflect on whether you want to contribute to Wikipedia or merely fight with people about your ideas as to its content. If you want to contribute, you'll be welcome, but you must play by the rules here. Accounting4Taste:talk 19:50, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone look at this guy's username? --jpgordon::==( o ) 20:11, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, Renkaw Gib, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

Please choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. However, do not create a new account if you wish to credit your existing contributions to a new name through a username change. To request a username change:

  1. Add {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. You should be able to edit this talk page even though you are blocked. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a list of names that have already been taken. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. jpgordon::==( o ) 20:11, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits of Future PLC

[edit]

Hello Renkaw Gib

Please do not persist in adding so much material to the Future plc page without reliable, independent (i.e. not just the Future website) sources. I will continue to revert these and will report your actions if you persist.

I am sure you are attempting to act in good faith but as, by your own admission, you are connected with Future plc, there appears to be a conflict of interest in what you are attempting to do. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not an advertising or marketing tool.

By all means make edits but please only add what is independently verifiable. Most of your Future edits do not fit this definition.

I know you feel you are restoring an old version but that version was not reliable and had no independent sources. I have been gradually adding indepdenent citations and it is very frustrating when you add the old non-verifiable material again.

Regards, Peteinterpol (talk) 19:52, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK we'll review it more positively when I am unblocked, regards. Renkaw Gib (talk) 19:57, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I was blocked by an admin who had it in for me from the beginning, just because I never agreed with him. I have stopped everything the moment I was warned and never abused any 3RR or anything. I already stopped the Jade Goody thing an hour ago and used TALK and then stopped that too. I stopped adding CELEB to Girls Aloud members and did nothing to put it back even though a user clarified my point when reverting me and saying 'Celeb? NPOV', it's POV to call Nadine oyle a celeb but Gospel for Jade Goody. I am a victim of mass bullying, please unblock me, I never abused anything. Renkaw Gib (talk) 19:55, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Sorry, your username is unacceptable; I've made the block indefinite. --jpgordon::==( o ) 20:12, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
