Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 00:44, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Talk page

[edit]

Please do not use talk pages for general discussion of the topic. They are for discussion related to improving the article. They are not to be used as a forum or chat room. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. See here for more information. Thank you.--Cúchullain t/c 15:45, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Virginia largest metro

[edit]

"Largest Metro" is a standard field used in the infoboxes of many states when the largest metropolitan area is not the same as either the capital or the largest city. This is the case with Northern Virginia, and thus we use the field. If you have a good argument for why it shouldn't be used, I recommended you present it on the talk page for Virginia, before you delete it again. Thanks!-- Patrick {oѺ} 01:36, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, please don't change the order of the entries on the America dab page without discussion on the article's talk page. There has been discussion there already, ending in consensus for the current order of entries; perhaps the consensus would change now, but unilaterally changing the dab page against the earlier consensus doesn't seem like a good idea (especially since you don't make any kind of explanation in the edit summaries, while the editors who change back to the consensus version do motivate their reverts). Cheers, --bonadea contributions talk 21:17, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please sign your comments

[edit]

Hello. When you contribute to discussions, you're expected to sign your comments using ~~~~ which produces your signature and the date and time. This makes it easier for other editors in the discussion to see what was said and by whom. You can change the look of your signature in your preferences. If you need any help, feel free to get in touch. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 19:15, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we would like to remind you not to attack other editors. Please comment on the contributions and not the contributors. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.--WaltCip (talk) 19:32, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your comments on main page talk

[edit]

"Here we spell it capitalize": you are wrong. Due to the many varieties of English, of which American English is only one, there is no "right or wrong" spelling on Wikipedia. Capitalise is correct if the writer is British, Irish, Australian, a New Zealander, South African ... I could go on. I suggest you read WP:ENGVAR. Your comment shows stunning UScentric arrogance - much the same thing you charge the Europeans of. 86.152.241.78 (talk) 10:25, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
