My RfA[edit]

Dont back out. You are on the right path and those who blame me for being UNCIVIL should look at their own edits because they themselves are the 'UNCIVIL' ones and these are some of the reasons I have decided to wait out on this RfA and after which I might leave Wikipedia for good cause when I joined, my main aim was to create articles for the greater good but it seems Editors that have become admins or those that have failed adminship feel that no one else deserves to be given a chance to succeed and that is wrong and its said that people are been judged by the ONLY mistakes they make and not by what they have done for Wikipedia..--Cometstyles 13:33, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD's[edit]

Thats good except the only thing I have to say is when new requests are added to the main AfD pages when they're transcluded, they are meant to be added to the bottom, so the earliest ones from that day come first, also your talk page archiving every 20 discussions is fine but dont you think you should up it a bit? Some users archive every 100 threads? Its up to you, Tellyaddict 13:34, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that, it was an edit conflict when I typed my above comment, maybe he/she was just annoyed, give it time and ask them politely why they came over as nasty, it may have just been a spare of the moment thing, Tellyaddict 13:42, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, its not you, I should have said in my edit summary, it was becasue of his comment to Kafziel saying that he would make a better sysop that he is and that made me remove my support, it was not becasue of any of your actions, Tellyaddict 14:33, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thats the thing really, I would probably have re-run for RfA now but because of that previous RfA lol I thought I better wait, but the other day an admin said he would proudly nominate me but I asked him if he could wait until about July and he said he would if thats what I wanted so I could gain more experience because yes, I would like to be a sysop but I've learnt that being to eager is not going to get me their, I have to be patient. Tellyaddict 14:38, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've left a weekly review at your Review Page and I noticed you used the Userbox for edit count I created, I created it a few days ago as the other ones were a little ugly. Thanks - Tellyaddict 11:27, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, are you sure your ready to be adopting new users? Do you fell confident enough as it can be hard sometimes? Also did you get the message saying that I'd reviewed you. Thanks - TellyaddictTalk 17:33, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for saying you like my signature, if you go onto WP:ADOPT then you can add yourself to the list of users available for adopting and look at the catgory of users whi want adopting, i often check to see if they are active, if they havent edited in over a month or so then I'll probably wait.TellyaddictTalk 11:06, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I heard about this, its all over the English news channels, their is an article about it: Virginia Tech massacre, what a tragedy, regards - 19:20, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Three[edit]

No, he just accidentally deleted the line-break separating his comment from the "Oppose" header. It's only three opposes. Cheers. – Chacor 14:43, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Moot point now. :) – Chacor 14:49, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I meant that there's now four opposers anyway, so it doesn't really matter. :) – Chacor 14:53, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Thank you for your help against vandalism. --Calvero JP 15:59, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I thought it was just tripe at first (and you can see the joking on the talkpage between myself and a couple others), but now I suspect it is a little more complex than that. I don't want to say too much; WP:BEANS--Isotope23 19:27, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I've seen worse though. He's doing one of two things and either way an IP check can put an end to it.--Isotope23 19:36, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I never selected that license. I selected attribute sharealike. Retiono Virginian 21:30, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

IIRC, there was, however, no source for the license that you chose. The historian specifically mentions non-commercial use only on his website. By the way, I didn't delete it as I'm not an administrator on en. Yonatan talk 15:39, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oompapa[edit]

Seeing as how I haven't been doing all that much blocking lately and never really used defcon I see how I could've missed that. Is there an WP:RFCU page on him? - Mgm|(talk) 10:09, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Three Doctors[edit]

Hello Retiono. Thanks you for your message. I have never been a part of these peer reviews so I don't know what is involved though I will be happy to look at the article and do what I can. If you haven't already done so I can suggest posting your request at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Doctor Who‎. This group takes good care of the DW articles and have shepherded several to good and/or featured article status. I hope that this is of some help. MarnetteD | Talk 16:21, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adoptions[edit]

I am new to wikipedia and after reading your page I think I would like to be adopted by you. I am interested in computers, rocketry and books. I would love to learn all about wikipedia so if you could teach me I would be most grateful. Cheers Kinglou135 22:04, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your Adoption[edit]

Well, I have reviewed his/her contribs and it seems to be good, however their are two things I have noticed that you should point out to him/h to help them along their way:

  • They Blanked their talk page comments, you should tell them they should be archived, some users take it quite seriously but it easier if they're achived instead of going through diff.
  • I also noticed they never leave an edit summary, maybe you should ask them to do so so they dont feel bitten by other users.

Thats all really, I take it you are off your WikiBreak? I'm still on mine due to exams but I'll be back in about 3 weeks or so but I can still reply quickly to comments. Thanks - Tellyaddict 19:53, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

deny[edit]

DENY. If you want to talk, email me. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 15:23, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I hate to say this STOP TAGGING IT NOW. THere are sevearl others who agree with me. Thanks. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 15:35, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No its for the good of the project, you stop deleting them, it will encourge him more, and plus learn to spell and do not unleash your anger at me!. Retiono Virginian 15:36, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've been deleting them too. I do believe it aggrandizes a user to create whole categories about them when attention is clearly what they crave. It's standard to delete these pages within a few days anyway, so why not do it now? I don't understand the problem. Cheers. Dina 15:41, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, please don't say things like "learn to spell" to other users. We're all trying to do the best we can for the encyclopedia and typos happen. Cheers. Dina 15:43, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok sorry, I still think we should tag them though. Retiono Virginian 15:46, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

agreed. Tag them and I will go through the cat and delete them. Chris is tagging before deleting. Thanks. Dina 15:52, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It has nothing to do with my inability to spell, it has everything to do with my having multiple windows open, monitoring the UCL, blocking, replying to emails all in a short period of time. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 15:57, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have left comments on Chris's talk page as I think he was being very uncivil and bossy towards you and me, he capitalised things like stop tagging now and instructed me not to change the Wdefcon and in capitals, he is being very boss so I have reminded him that admins have no higher authority than other users and that his comments were uncivil, bossy and honestly - rude, feel free to read it if you wish.Tellyaddict 16:31, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It has nothing to do with higher authority, it has everything to do with protecting this project. I work very very hard to prevent this project from being abused, and in this situation, WP:DENY appears to be the best strategy. I apologise if you were offended, however I was in the middle of blocking a sock every minute, responding to emails and re-deleting pages that several others agreed should be deleted. Thank you for ceasing deletion and emailing me to get a better understanding RV. Telly, I also invite you to email me with any cocnerns regarding this. Thanks! -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 16:40, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Offensive[edit]

I am sorry if you find it offensive. Please understand, I am 100% on your side. After the posting there, the sock names reflected it. It is wise to just put nothing there at all. Thanks for your patience regarding this matter. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 18:55, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

i removed it again and pointed to the abuse report. Posting numbers will not help with anything at all, please trust me on this. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 19:25, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your RfA[edit]

Not trying to be mean but I strongly suggest withdrawing your RfA, it can be a painful and nasty process sometimes and I dont quite think your experience is whats expected, I'd suggest more article work etc, sorry but I just dont think you ready, good luck though! Tellyaddict 20:15, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Ditto on that. It's a gruelling process and I'm not sure if you're ready - Alison 20:24, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Also, you haven't formally accepted, far as I can see - Alison 20:32, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • See the bit at the top where it says; "Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here:" - you're supposed to say something like "I accept" and add your sig after it - Alison 20:39, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Please? It's going to go the way of WP:SNOW and that may not help in future. May I suggest you maybe apply for admin mentoring afterwards and get a plan together for tackling another RfA again soon? I mean well here .... - Alison 22:01, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Plese withdraw it, Alison its right, its going WP:SNOW, also the article you created on Northwest Michigan high school was a stub when you started it, other editors have helped as well as yourself, I did earlier suggest not to attempr RfA until a later date but this is too early, again if you re-nominate yourself in future months you answers to opticla questions will need to be more detailed and you'll have to accept your nomination, I would also avoid things like "I am delighted to nominate myselffor adminship", that is the kind of thing of thing people would say if they were nominating another user for adminship, it makes it seem like you are bragging and over-eager. You do need a lot more experience, I mean I have been here for 7 months and I'm not yet and may nver be ready for the tools, it is a big responsibility, you ned to get more involved communicating with editors and not just nominate AFD's etc but regularly voice your opinion and in other WP:XFD. I'm sorry and I dont mean to upset you but it will look better and more responsible if you withdraw it rather than waiting for it to fail as it appears its going to.I also have to agree with Chrislk02's oppose comments, you left on Wikibreak just because your userpage was being vandalised by vandal sockpuppets and he says you took it too seriously and made it to be bigger than it actually was, admins do get abused and verbally attacked on Wikipedia everyday-unfortunately thats the way it seems to go now and I have to say I agree with him, you know who vandalised my userpage six times in three hours or so yesterday and you just have to ignore it and not take offence to it, even though it may be nasty. I also think that maybe you should de-adopt your recent adoption of a new user, I dont think your ready and familiar with everything, I think you should stick to being an adoptee for a little while, its up to you though.Tellyaddict 11:48, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe so but he probably added it after his RfA or it was not taken seriously, I'm not saying you dont know your policies but I dont think you know them well enough to be an admin, I'm not trying to be mean but User:R (formerly Teckwiz) had many oppose comments due to his political userboxes.Tellyaddict 15:57, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well only a bureaucrat can make that decision and regarding that user..because of her Chrislk02 had to leave on a long wikibreak and she has opposed everyone with the same reason (i.e wikiproject endorsements and userboxes) so maybe you can ask a Bureaucrat to strike off her oppose vote...Cheers..--Cometstyles 21:31, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

re:Policies[edit]

Well you do have a bit of knowledge but to be an Admin you need to know more than that and since you haven't been participating a lot in Wikiprojects, I believe you should try to broaden your skills such as creating meaningful articles, taking part in discussions(wikiproject related) as well but the main thing is being able to communicate with other editors which I think you are not that good at and regarding "can you change your vote?"..l'am sorry but I cant but I will not change my stance and I wont oppose you either because I know you enough not to misjudge you and I believe that one day you would be a great Admin but not "as yet"..:)..--Cometstyles 21:04, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I always take part and run AFDS and I always vote in RFA and I have created one large article Northwest High School (Michigan) Retiono Virginian 21:06, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've also have taken part in AFDS and voted in RFA and created numerous articles but that doesn't mean I know everything....Experience and knowledge comes with time and well I don't think 'your time is now'..Sorry..--Cometstyles 21:12, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your RfA[edit]

Might I suggest you withdraw your RfA? You've just opened yourself up for a severe pile on oppose because of your comments to Kelly and RDsmith. I think you should seriously look at your conduct during RfA for the future. Ryan Postlethwaite 22:00, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ditto that. This means that should not be an admin now or for a long time to come. John Reaves (talk) 22:04, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yorkshire project proposal[edit]

Your proposed project on Yorkshire at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals#Yorkshire has gotten ten members. That should be more than enough to start up the project. If you want any help doing so, let me know and I'll do what I can to help. John Carter 22:02, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you ![edit]

Hello, Retiono Virginian! Wikipedia thanks you for offering to help in the capacity of an administrator. Sadly, your nomination has been withdrawn as the nomination would likely not have succeeded. Major reasons for this are the limited time you have spent editing Wikipedia and the relatively low number of edits you have made to date; nothing personal. Please don't be disheartened - this was only done to reduce any ill will that might have been generated by the process.

If you wish to help Wikipedia in the capacity of an administrator in the future, you will need to be able to demonstrate why people can trust you with these very powerful tools. To do this, you may wish to help out with maintenance work - here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Once you've spent several more months both creating new content and helping administrators out behind the scenes, you may be ready for another request to become an administrator. You might wish to try an editor review before another request to become an administrator; this is often useful before a new request for adminship and can help you decide if you are ready to stand again. Please remember that whatever happens, many of the administrators you see today on the administrator's noticeboard went through the RfA process at least twice before the community promoted them; one admin notably made seven attempts before succeeding.

Please don't take any RfA criticism personally; rather, look on the process as a constructive way to help you become a better editor. Please don't rush to become an administrator, but take your time and allow the community to take the time we need to be able to judge that we can trust you and your judgement. Look through the various policies and above all, have fun and enjoy yourself building Wikipedia. Once again, Wikipedia thanks for your nomination and we all hope you won't be too upset at the result. Best wishes.-- Nick t 00:14, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A good editor...gone[edit]

Retiono Virginian, this is why I suggested not going for RfA as it can lead to things like his and it can completely change your views on things, I strongly agree that [[User:Kelly Martin]'s views about oppoising just because of political views is highly inapproproate, even thnough they may not be the best idea, its still, however I find her opposing your RFA because of this inappropriate. Would you like me to completely close down your user talk page and get you userpage protected if an admin agrees at WP:RFP? I'll archive your comments and leave the same message on your userpage at the top of your talk page, I will also adopt your recent adoptee Kinglou. We are losing an excellent Wikipedian and I encourage you to one day come back, if you ever decide to come back I'll be overjoyed or if you decide to edit under a new account without telling anyone, then thats OK - I understand that. If you would like me to do the above and shut down and request protection of your userpage, please simply comment below

Goodbye, I hope you enjoy life!!!. Goodbye and good luck! Tellyaddict 11:25, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No. Do not delete or close down any of my pages, it was because of the things said on my RFA because I protested against what User:Kelly Martin said, and I don't stand a chance in future times. Tellyaddict, please adopt my old adoptee User:Kinglou135 and one day in the far future I may return. If you want to dicuss anything else please do it by email. Thanks. Retiono Virginian 11:38, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't leave because of this. Kelly says this or something of the sort about almost everybody. I can't imagine the bureaucrats will take it over-seriously. Come back and fight another day. DGG 02:23, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
