Deletion of "Paola E Chiara"[edit]

Hi W.marsh,

I wasn't aware of "redirects for deletion" (I'm regularly contributing from January, thus I'm still a bit new to WP). Thanks for pointing that out :) --Gennaro Prota 01:59, 6 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request to reconsider deletion of the Hemobag[edit]

Hi, W. Marsh,

You deleted The Hemobag but I have permission from the company to create the wikipedia entry (let me know what proof of permission that you need).

Although the Hemobag is a commercial product, it is legitimately one of about 3 ways to process and transfuse a patient's own autologous blood during surgery. Moreover, the article is loaded with valuable background information on blood salvaging and educational references on "bloodless surgery" and bloodless surgey websites and also takes a neutral point of view on the product.

I note that wikipedia has other entires on blood salvage companies, most notably [Haemonetics]: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haemonetics They have a company entry with none of the educational material that I used in the Hemobag entry. Seems weird to me!

Please reconsider deletion of the Hemobag or let me know what I can do to make it acdceptable. Many thanks.

broadband elite[edit]

Hi

I was just wondering how often you would review an article that has been flagged with: {{notability}} I have added some more content to Broadband_Elite but im not sure on wether this has increased it's 'importance' or not, and wether it is now 'noteable'.

Any help/suggestions you could provide would be most appreciated.

Hi. Just curious why you changed the date format in Dave Duncan (baseball)? Thank you for expressing your opinion. Could you say what could be further improved?

Additionally, I feel that I should correct you on one issue. I was blocked 2 weeks ago on my request. The other party in the discussion was to be blocked, and I agreed to User:DragonflySixtyseven that we both should be blocked (I accepted that out of solidarization).

Could you please point out persicely where did I go wrong with the AfD so that I can improve that in the near-future?

The other sentence was indeed clearly my POV error. However, before entirely judging it, you have to oversee the situation of the usage (note: Not trying to justify it). --HolyRomanEmperor 16:40, 17 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Jason schmidt2.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an arguement why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 18:25, 17 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah that was an upload I did as a relative newbie. I don't think it's fair use at all... I'm going to just go ahead and delete it. Thanks for catching it. --W.marsh 18:27, 17 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, can you take a look at this AfD? Usual procedure with a delete consensus is to delete the article (to get rid of the history) and, if out of process recreation is anticipated, add the {{deleted}} template. Probably doesn't seem like a big deal but getting rid of the history of deleted articles is important for clarity should future issues arise, and perhaps for legal reasons as well. And thanks for helping out with closing AfDs! --W.marsh 00:44, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good point! This is something that I neglected to do with this article, so thank you for pointing it out to me. I have now deleted the page and applied a {{deletedpage}} tag to prevent its recreation, as pointed out in the AfD. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, it helps me to keep my standards high when editing WP.  (aeropagitica)  00:55, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that you deleted my article about Peter C. Went just yet. As such, implicitly I thought, had waived all copyright.

Mancow[edit]

You wrote: "moved Mancow to Erich Matthew Muller: per WP:NAME should exist under real name, not nickname". I don't see that policy. We're supposed to use common names of persons and things, which in this case is "Mancow" or "Mancow Muller". —Viriditas | Talk 23:07, 22 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Strangely enough, "Mancow" (like Madonna (entertainer)) is the name he uses in public and to conduct most business. We use common names, which in this case is Mancow or Mancow Muller. —Viriditas | Talk 23:21, 22 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Steve Chappell Entry[edit]

Greetings:

The recent entry of Steve Chappell also deleted was a compilation of several input points from around the country delivered to APG.

Next, Steve Chappell meets the notable and verifiable guidelines set forth.

Please re-add the entry so it may be edited and added to by others across the nation. The additional notables will be added as seperate entries to the wiki as they also meet the guideline established.

Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Steve@apgi.com (talkcontribs)

Reply[edit]

It seems autobiographical and self-promotional. That's not the point of Wikipedia, see WP:NOT. --W.marsh 02:44, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

Additional[edit]

Agreed, don't they all? I searched WP for those that are in my circle, and some entries are called "stubs". Since there are several other additions to be added to the wiki, including key new terms used in books from this person's entry, what is the best approach? Again, the guidelines were followed, but if the autobiographical component is too strong, we will be happy to edit it out and stick with key points. Would the "stub" be a better approach? - Steve —Preceding unsigned comment added by Steve@apgi.com (talkcontribs)

OK, we will try to edit as fit. Again, when searched by people in same circle, and who we know, the content is very much the same. We searched 25 people who fit the same criteria and again, who we also know, and the MO is the same. Every idea in the Wiki is a promotion. It is promotion of the idea, the concept, the person. If the guideline is met, it has place in wikipedia.- Steve's exec staff at APG. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Steve@apgi.com (talkcontribs)

Hi, please check user page User:Steve@apgi.com again, thank you - Mike Kline and Wendy Goulart @ APG.

  • Well, you can recreate the article as long as it's substantially changed from the deleted version (this is true of most deleted articles). I would suggest you cite where he's been mentioned by the Wall Street Journal, etc. But like I've said... the idea of someone's assistants writing an article about him is going to rub a lot of people the wrong way. --W.marsh 03:48, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

- Again, this was a compilation of some thirty sources we polled, including some who are listed in Wikipedia. It was easier for us to do it since we knew the experts who know Steve the best. This is a little more editorial than we had thought. It seems a little anti-wiki from that standpoint. - MK

- Hi again, I have six people here searching WP for people we know in the same circle as Steve. They come up with very much the same demonstratable profile for the others as we have for Steve. So, we are a little confused by the editorial here. We are trying to get this up so other parties can edit and add as fit. I did read your comments, but again, they don't seem to be in line with other notables on Wikipedia. - MK

Out of curiosity, who are these other people? Those articles might be inappropriate for Wikipedia as well, but just haven't been caught yet. Hbackman 04:01, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

- In that case, anyone who has anything to do with technology, business, education or commerce and industry should probably be removed by that standard. Sorry, I don't subscribe to that policing type of editorial- MK

I didn't say that they were inappropriate for Wikipedia, I said that they might be. They might be vanity pages or they might concern people who are not sufficiently notable, for instance.
If you don't want to be "policed," you may not want to be here. Other editors may dramatically edit your article, and if they think it's not sufficiently notable, they will nominate it for deletion (typically this means that there will be a discussion before the article is deleted, so a nomination for deletion isn't the final word -- if enough people believe that the article should be kept, it will be). Unfortunately, if we don't keep an eye on the encyclopedia and cull articles that are non-notable or otherwise don't belong, we get a lot of useless and joke articles that take up tons of server space but are never used or read by anyone except maybe their creators. If you "don't subscribe" to "policing," well, you aren't going to change the entire community on this point, so you should maybe spend your time somewhere that won't frustrate you.
That said, I haven't seen the article that you're trying to write, and so I can't judge whether it's a good page, a vanity page, an ad, whatever. So none of this is trying to judge your article -- I'm just trying to explain a little bit of how Wikipedia works so that you can understand the community better and decide whether you want to participate in it.
Hbackman 04:14, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

- Thanks for your help W.marsh . We will resubmit and let others edit. As far as the others we searched, they have been on Wikipedia for sometime as I believe no one has questioned the notability of the profile they hold or are known by the circles they hold or even the public in general. We have found "this" experience at Wikipedia though somewhat elitist and not very friendly. I work with editors all over the world and have never found such a downed experience for such a simple task. As far as the above user Hbackman comments, I read your user page and it seems to me you are exactly the reason Wikipedia is a little out of control. The user content seems to show that some feel they have a certain power over all, and never for the common good. -MK

Vbus[edit]
