Working comments[edit]

(I'm commenting here for simplicity)

I have a few thoughts:

  1. I think the criteria you have listed are probably the most important.
  2. Should this be proposed as a guideline? Like all guidelines, it is best treated with common sense, and occasional exceptions may apply.
  3. It might be a good idea to list a couple or a few links to previous discussions, like any of these: Talk:Endorsements in the 2020 Democratic Party presidential primaries#A tweet of support is not an endorsement (and others on the same page), Talk:Endorsements in the 2016 Republican Party presidential primaries/Archive 1#Endorsement Rules, Talk:Endorsements in the 2016 Republican Party presidential primaries/Archive 1#Rule#2.1 endorsements must be unequivocal , and Rule#2.2 endorsements must be singular, Talk:Endorsements in the 2017 United Kingdom general election#What is an endorsement?
  4. Do we need a criteria for how to handle endorsements from fringe endorsers, for example a well know white supremacist endorsing a presidential candidate? (This comes up quite bit and it's a bone of contention.)

@MrX: Moved to talk page because for some reason my brain revolts at the idea of talking on a non-talk page. :)
2 - Which guideline would it go in?
3 - Indeed. I have a couple others to add to this.
4 - My inclination is that the question of which kinds of people to include seems like a can of worms best dealt with separately, as a potentially complicating factor. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 03:11, 23 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
2. Possibly a new guideline (WP:Political endorsements) under the WP:NPOV umbrella, similar to WP:FRINGE.
3. The previous discussions are also the justification for bring a proposal forth.
4. Yeah, I guess that makes sense.

@MrX: Posted. Wikipedia:Village_pump_(proposals)#RfC_on_inclusion_criteria_for_lists_of_political_endorsements. I don't really have an opinion whether this should be a new guideline, a WikiProject page, or just linked from somewhere as an RfC. I'll leave that to you (or anyone else) to address next steps. Thanks for your help/feedback here. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 14:33, 23 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
