Kiev 645-MLU[edit]

Hi, thanks for your contribution of a photo to this article. I'm just wondering about this "Kiev 645" camera. It was my understanding (mostly because of the Kiev-Arsenal article) that the factory only makes simple Kiev 60's - that both the 6x4.5 frame and MLU are modifications performed by other people (vendors). I note that your photo of your camera still has "Kiev 60" on the name badge. I think we should keep a distinction between what the factory produces and what a variety of vendors actually sell. Perhaps a new section describing 'common modifications' could be added describing the 645 and MLU changes, and some of the other stuff that Arax does. What do you think? --Imroy 21:54, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Imroy, When I purchased the camera the vendor (Kiev Camera in Atlanta, GA, US) told me that he worked directly with the Arsenal factory to effect these changes. It's my understanding that the factory (or persons within the factory) perform the upgrades for this particular vendor. They don't rebadge the camera because they don't have a die for a new nameplate. At least in the past few years the Arsenal "factory" seems to be two or three people building cameras from spare parts. -- User:RichardCCarpenter 1 February 2007
