File permission problem with File:Jeff Ragsdale Photo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Jeff Ragsdale Photo.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to delete or edit legitimate talk page comments, as you did at Talk:Jeff Ragsdale, you may be blocked from editing. Removing someone else's comments is not remotely acceptable, in particular when they raise a valid issue. Calling for them to be blocked at the same time is asking for a block yourself. Jeff Ragsdale[edit]

Even though the article is plenty of sources (some of them unreliables), article's lead does not pass that rule. It talks about his television appearances and not his life nor his films, which are more important. If I were reviewing this article, I woud not give a "notability" tag, because it seems to pass it, instead I would add a "clean up". Talk with Theda and ask him/her for why the "notability" tag. I wouldn't worry about a notability tag. Agree with Tbhotch in principle, lead should assert notability (and not by saying ...is a notable X...) as a short summary of the subject. Many refs are not necessarily needed for the lead, (although they are always nice to have) as the matter in the lead should be covered in more depth in the article proper. Also the article should avoid phrases like "starred" unless these can be sourced. I didn't follow all the cites, but assuming they all recount individual success, this is not enough to say "starred" on WP. One can say "captained" if that's citable, or "scoring 30% of the teams points in season X". Rich Farmbrough, 09:29, 21 November 2010 (UTC).[reply]
I have made a few minor changes, but my biggest criticism of the article was that on a third reading it seemed to be neither about Ragsdale, nor about his significant achievements, but about the media coverage of him. Of course this plays reasonably well to WP since we are so used to unsourced - and often unsourcable materials. And indeed if his aim in life is column inches, and to be a notable self-publicist, and we grant that he has achieved that, this is a matter worthy of attention. If however he is notable for his activism, for example, the article should expand on that. What other verifiable significant activism has he done? The same applies to his other claims to fame.
