Mickey Rooney[edit]

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia! i'm sorry if others aren't making you feel welcome. i think i know how you feel. At least Acroterion gave a reason for reverting your edit. One of the major rules on Wikipedia is "verifiability, not truth". It's a little like suspected criminals being treated as "innocent until proven guilty". The truth only counts if you can prove it. (By the way, a lot of editors here say imdb is not a reliable source, so don't be surprised if you get reverted again. Still, better imdb than nothing.)

Another rule is that not everything is notable. i don't know the show you mentioned, so i don't know how noteworthy his cameo was, but it's another reason you might get reverted.

You don't have to agree with other editors' decisions (i often don't), but i find knowing why they decide the way they do can make it less painful, and sometimes helps find a way to change their minds.

Getting angry is usually not a good way to change their minds, no matter who's right or who's wrong. The way you feel when they revert you and you don't know why? i suspect that's the way they feel when you revert the revert. But if your edit summary shows you're clearly angry about it, they have the "verifiability" to "prove you guilty" if you or they report the situation to an admin.

There are essays on these subjects around Wikipedia (official rules, official exceptions, suggestions, etiquette guides, etc), but i'm too lazy to hunt one down right now. Just wanted to quickly reassure you we're (mostly) all trying to help out here (even if we can't all agree all the time about just what is helpful), and i hope you keep trying to help, too.

IMDb is crowdsourced and is not usable as a source on Wikipedia. Please find a reliable published source, see WP:RS and WP:V. Additionally, while it's clear to me that you mean the BBC's Channel 4, in other parts of the world Channel 4 could indicate a local, unremarkable TV station, so it would need more context or be linked. In any case, please remember that unsourced appendices are usually removed, and IMDb references aren't accepted (nor are most blogs, the Daily Mail and other sources with a reputation for poor research or unreliability, nor is Wikipedia a source for itself). Wikipedia is a global encyclopedia - you might think something's obvious and doesn't need a citation, but that's not readily apparent to others, and in any case, most things less obvious than "the sky is blue on a cloudless day" need to be cited to reliable published sources.
