Draft The Handsome Man's DeLuxe Cafe, suggestions to get draft approved as article

[edit]

Hello RijuBansal. I read your draft of the article on the book by Alexander McCall smith, The Handsome Man's DeLuxe Cafe. I made some revisions, which you can see listed at the View History tab for the article. They include adding parameters to the infobox book (from Template:Infobox book) and filling them in, and using British English and British style (periods mainly end a sentence and do no other duty in British style, which you will note is different from Alexander McCall Smith's style). The infobox shows more information now. I think I found the ISBN for the for the first UK edition, and the publisher is Little, Brown in the UK. There are a lot of reviews of this book, which you can find by searching on the book title and author and the word review. You can add much to the Reviews section you began. I added a quote from the review by Kirkus Reviews. You are likely to find one by Publishers Weekly, as well, but I did not look for that one. Many newspapers did reviews when the book came out in 2014. Relying on a source that quotes reviews by others is not the best way to cite a review; one main point is that you do not provide the author of the review if there was an author, nor the date of the review. And you might find better phrases to include in the Wikipedia article, than that other source also writing about the book. I wrote the article for the book prior to this one, and the process to get the article up was slow and long, so I advise making as many changes as you can to speed the time until the article is no longer a draft. One thing that reviewers of the article I put up did not like was long quotes from the reviews; they preferred shorter quotes most of the time, and more words by me, getting the gist of the reviews without such long quotes. Once the reviews section is improved, you might add a paragraph to the lead which summarizes the reviews, using the ref names from the main article. Good luck with your article! I will follow your Talk page for a while, if you want to discuss this draft article of yours further. --Prairieplant (talk) 22:30, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), such as at User talk:Mz7, please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
