Speedy deletion of Gina DeVivo[edit]

A tag has been placed on Gina DeVivo, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hello RingPOPmom, and Welcome to Wikipedia!
I understood from your question that you are asking about the deletion tag on your talk page. Well, first of all, the "Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines." message applies only to the speedy deletion tag on the article's page and not on your talk page. I have seen the article and improved it a bit Here. Just a piece of advice, when you want to make a subtitle, use == before and after that title instead of using bold text.
Please note that Wikipedia policy does not prohibit users from removing comments from their own talk pages, although archiving is preferred. The removal of a warning is taken as evidence that the warning has been read by the user. Deleted warnings can still be found in the page history. see Wikipedia:User_page and Wikipedia:USER
I hope this answers your question.Good luck !

You are welcome,
As for the redirect thing, it is done. You can try it if you want, type "gina devivo" and it will direct you to your article. Voilà!
If you want, i will tell you how to do it.I also added an infobox and an image to the article. Best of luck
Λua∫Wise (talk) 13:00, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Gina DeVivo has not been indexed by Wikipedia search yet. When that happens (probably within days), any capitalization will find the article in the search box. "Go" below the search box works before the article has been indexed, but it requires the right capitalization. Unlike search, wikilinks such as [[Gina Devivo]] producing Gina Devivo will always only work with the right capitalization, so a redirect there would be good. PrimeHunter (talk) 14:08, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I added a redirect so that Gina Devivo will be directed to the right page :)

AfD nomination of Gina DeVivo[edit]

An editor has nominated Gina DeVivo, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gina DeVivo and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 16:29, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Gina_DeVivo[edit]

Hi there - I'm not sure if you're monitoring the above page, but I thought I'd drop you a line to let you know that I've followed up your comment, as I think there's a difference between notability for inclusion in Wikipedia, and citing information which is included. Thanks! Giles Bennett (Talk, Contribs) 13:01, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your message. To be honest, I don't have a view on whether or not the person concerned is notable - it's a pretty borderline case, in my view, and I think current voting at the AfD reflects that.
I appreciate that you can see other articles on other people of a similar nature, but as an earlier contributor to the AfD page said, the fact that other crap exists isn't an argument in favour of keeping an article.
In terms of improving the article, the problem is that it's not a question of the article being badly written, badly created or otherwise in need of improvement, it's more than you can't create notability. The person is either notable or they're not. The only way to determine that is by finding out what the generalconsensus of the Wikipedia community is, and the only way of doing that at this stage is to see what the result of the deletion discussion is.
Sorry I can't be of more help, but if you would like to discuss it further feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Giles Bennett (Talk, Contribs) 13:36, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations![edit]

Well, you fought for the article and the result was keeping it on WP for the lack of consensus. I hope you continue to add to the article and start new ones if you can. Please do not let this incident discourages you from further editing. Good luck. Λua∫Wise (talk) 16:19, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Agree, I just checked the article Adnan Ghalib and this seems ironic given how much he wanted the Gina Devivo article deleted. I think we must improve the article in the meantime. First thing to do is to add a picture, and I hope you might be able to help with that because there are no free pictures of her, I tried to upload one of them on the internet, but it got deleted because of the license. I hope you have some free ones. Then, let's expand the article so that just in case it was nominated to deletion again, we will have more editors agreeing with us. Λua∫Wise (talk) 11:38, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It will increase the 'value' of the article, decreasing the tendency to delete it within the community (this is what I have concluded when going through the deletion process of several articles). Of course a picture will not add notability, but you can think of it as a good idea to do so. Cleaning it up and expanding it should improve the article considerably. I was thinking that if we can find enough sources, illustrations, and material put in a proper form, we can nominate it to be a Good article which will make it very hard to delete.Λua∫Wise (talk) 12:01, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Talk:Gina DeVivo. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Please do not assume ownership of articles. If you aren't willing to allow your contributions to be edited extensively or be redistributed by others, please do not submit them. Thank you. If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;

Please do not delete content from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Talk:Gina DeVivo, without explaining the reason for the removal in the edit summary. Unexplained removal of content does not appear constructive, and your edit has been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox for test edits. Thank you.--Orange Mike | Talk 00:16, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting deletion of Gina DeVivo[edit]

Nobody owns an article on Wikipedia. Ironically, because so many other editors have altered this article, you no longer can request its speedy deletion. You can, however, post a note on the talk page of the article, asking that somebody nominate it as an Article for Deletion (AfD), and explaining your reasoning. --Orange Mike | Talk 00:37, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Article for Deletion process is pretty darned complicated, so I thought it might be less hassle for you to ask a more experienced editor to do so. --Orange Mike | Talk 00:41, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Gina DeVivo[edit]

I have nominated Gina DeVivo, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gina DeVivo (2nd nomination). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Re:[edit]

Yes indeed, really odd! :-) Λua∫Wise (Operibus anteire) 14:14, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I do not particularly agree with your "if you can't beat'em, join'em!", but if that's what you want, I respect that. Λua∫Wise (Operibus anteire) 15:08, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It will get deleted, no worries there. As for the tagging thing, I have one thing to say: Welcome to Wikipedia! Λua∫Wise (Operibus anteire) 17:48, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia notability[edit]

If you find articles which do not meet Wikipedia's notability criteria for persons, by all means, tag them appropriately. The fact that there are other non-notable articles in existence at the time you find them is not an excuse to create more non-notable articles. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 17:19, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
