Thank you so much for your kind words on my talk page. It is very refreshing indeed to find that there are still some voices of reason within this cacophonous choir. — To address your “converse argument”, I know what you’re saying and I acknowledge all of it. I do not advocate that notability should be ignored or that there shouldn’t be any standards to be upheld. By all means, slap a box on the top of the page telling readers about the perceived issues with the article, explaining why it is inadequate, and listing ways in which it could be improved. By all means have a rule that such articles which are inadequate by these standards cannot be linked to from other articles. But delete? Remove from existence? Completely deprive the world of it? I cannot comprehend, on any dimension, the desire to destroy work. I simply cannot fathom it. I do not inhabit that mental space. — Timwi (talk) 08:15, 7 February 2022 (UTC)

@Timwi: To see me walking a mile in your shoes, consider Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pink cat (note this happened just as COVID-19 lockdowns broke out so I was not in a good mood generally). Ultimately, Wikipedia works on consensus and we sometimes have to accept a result that doesn't go the way we want. (As you can probably guess from looking at my user page, I would never vote for Donald Trump or Boris Johnson to lead a village fete let alone anything else - again, sometimes we have to accept things we don't like). Yes, not only did he never show any arrogance or pomposity, and always pronounced everything perfectly but, like Victoria Coren Mitchell says, you got the feeling that he actually knew all the answers anyway and had probably written all the questions himself. Hello Ritchie333, I'm the creator of the article of American actor Steve Clark (actor), I now that you placed a tag requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, because you noticed that the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate. Just for you to now that the actor has 319 credits on his career, also in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Steve Clark (actor) John Pack Lambert (talk) said that it shoud be deleted because it lacked of reliable sources providing signifant coverage with Find-a-grave and IMDb sources not been reliable, it should be noted that I put them only as temporary sources until I found more reliable, which I already did and I already replaced the Find-a-grave and IMDb sources with more reliable sources that proves a signifant coverage. It should also be noted that this article is still under construction and I'm also fixing some other minor problems. I already write my reasons and my proofs of why this article should not be deleted on the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Steve Clark (actor) to which you haven't closed yet, so would it be possible please that you to close the discussion and remove the Speedy deletion nomination tag from the article?Latyelcop (talk 01:28, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

@Latyelcop: The speedy deletion tag was placed by Fram. ([1]). I removed the tag ([2]) as I didn't believe it met the criteria of being an article that was blatantly not suitable for an encyclopedia. However, since I wasn't sure what else to do, and couldn't easily find any sources (which is not helped by other people with the same name like the Def Leppard guitarist), I thought I'd start a formal discussion about it. Part of the problem in this case is the best source material is likely to be long out-of-print books and newspapers which will be hard to find. It hasn't been deleted, it's been moved to Draft:Gokul Rajendran as there was a consensus the page hasn't been developed sufficiently to be suitable for a standalone article yet. Hello! I wanted to drop a quick note for all of our AFC participants; nothing huge and fancy like a newsletter, but a few points of interest.

AFCH will now show live previews of the comment to be left on a decline.
The template {{db-afc-move}} has been created - this template is similar to {{db-move}} when there is a redirect in the way of an acceptance, but specifically tells the patrolling admin to let you (the draft reviewer) take care of the actual move.

Short and sweet, but there's always more to discuss at WT:AFC. Stop on by, maybe review a draft on the way? Whether you're one of our top reviewers, or haven't reviewed in a while, I want to thank you for helping out in the past and in the future. I wrote about Anna Korsun, about whom I knew nothing until yesterday. It is obvious. I post an image, it says (to me): "stand and sing" which was my attitude towards the arbs who didn't look (as it was Bach's when he set the words to music, and Gardiner thought he expressed how Luther stood in Worms), and is now. Only that two of the young women on the image slept in my house when they came to sing for us, and I tremble thinking of what may happen to them. - I wanted to go to a charity concert tomorrow: sold out (which is good). I wrote about a composer featured, and guess what: it was accepted for DYK. Although all hooks related to Russia and Ukraine are on hold, as possibly "taking sides", - there's an RfC, can you believe that? I've just spent the past 45 minutes reading Marina Ovsyannikova and the related AfD. I think Thryduulf said it best : "This is a classic case of an article created too soon that was then nominated for deletion too soon". On the one hand, it's easy for experienced Wikipedians to see the arguments to avoid in the debate; on the other it's not necessarily obvious that the article (and consequently the AfD) was broadcast all over the world and consequently the ratio of inexperienced editors compared to experienced wanting to say something was possibly in the region of 20:1. And consequently appealing to stick to Wikipedia policies and guidelines was going to be as about as effective as Canute (allegedly) telling the tide to please stop coming in. As this essay points out, "Outside readers, organizations and individuals will also read your words in the context of generally understood meanings, not Wikipedia-specific definitions. Appeals to Wikipedia rules and processes will not save you from misunderstandings or real-world consequences." I think we sometimes lose sight of that when the day to day activity of encyclopedia writing and administration is generally ignored by the wider world. I think Observations of Wikipedia point 59 said it best : "When an editor ceases to contribute to articles, but instead writes only in the Wikipedia space, on talk pages, and arbitration cases, and when more than half of that editor's contributions are in conflicts, either beginning or prolonging them, then that editor is very close to departure." Certainly, all the times I have encountered arguments, I have found that looking at an article and improving it a bit are good ways to end the day's editing session in a better frame of mind. And I know a number of people who Jimbo once notoriously described as "annoying user, good content" who have quit (or been blocked from) the project as soon as their prolific mainspace contributions dried up. It's hard to say. The last 5-7 years have seen us lurch from one crisis to another. First it was Brexit, then COVID (so everyone forgot about Brexit), then the Ukraine War (so everyone forgot about COVID). In that context, tinkering away on Apple hardware, old electromechanical keyboards or random streets in London and Dublin, seems like light relief. Hi, I see User:ErnestKrause promoted the Hepburn article to GA but I can't see where the books were used to improve it. Do you still have the books? Ernest we have half a dozen books and intended getting it up to GA status!

Dr. Blofeld, I don't have the books, I asked Daria to give them to Bettydaisies as she seemed more experienced and interested in getting the article to GA. As far as I know, that happened.

As for Pimlico, I recall improving the eponymous station to try and get it to GA (along with every other station on the Victoria Line) but got stuck for sources. Same's happened with Farfisa, there's a bunch of info about commercially unsuccessful and obscure synths from the 70s I don't have any sources for either. Regarding Audrey Hepburn, the article was nominated by me several months ago and was promoted to GA at that time. The list of over a dozen books used for the GAN is listed in the Bibliography section of that article which comes after the References. If anyone might be interested in possibly taking the article for FA nomination with the use of more reference books now available to enhance the article, then this might be good timing for such an FA improvement to the article. The article, as I deleted it, started off "Satarial was created in 1989 by Lord Seth. It was then called " A.M.S.G. " ( Ad Maiorum Satan Glorium ) and in 1993 changed on Satarial." followed by pages of unsourced gobbledegook. I could restore it to draft for you, but I really think you would be better off writing a short, neutral and sourced article from scratch instead.
