Ahunt, please help me. I want to add some data on the MacCready Solar Challenger page the first is some data on the Solar panels that I and my company built for the airplane and second is to add two references to my web site "http//astrobobb.com that is up and running but I am still adding more photos and data. The AIAA paper " History of Solar Flight" was not available from AIAA unless one joined and paid one years dues. I have rewriten the artcle with color photos and it is now free. I have also posted my two published books " The Quiet Revolution" and " The electric motor handbook" which can now be downloaded for free. Thanks for explaining! That is great you have posted all those books. The one question that may arise in using them as refs is WP:COPYLINK which prohibits linking to copyright violations on the web from Wikipedia. Since I am the author of all those papers and books and I Hold the copyright on all my Astro stuff since when I retired I dissolved the company and sold all the assets except rights to patents and copyrights. One of the AIAA papers Sunrise was posted as a JPEG. the other one History of Solar flight I re-wrote and used color photos like the ones I used when giving speeches all around the USA back in the 1980's. If the AIAA bitches about the Sunrise paper I can re write it and use color photos. When I asked the US Chamber about posting and article from the 1990's they had no objection. Their mag is no longer published. What I had intended to add to the MacCready Solar Challenger article on Wikipedia is a sentence or two on the solar panels that I designed and built as a subcontractor and team member. and to add a reference to book that describes the project and has separate Bio chapters on all the team members. The book is titled " More with Less" by Paul Ciotti ISBN-1-893554-50-3 published by Encounter Books San Francisco C 2002 I think it would a nice touch to let readers learn a little bit about all the team members who spent long hours for two years on that project. What do you suggest I do now? Bob

I am kind of afraid of screwing up the page. here is what I think I would like to see the article revised

page 1 no change page 2 line 1 after the word team add ref 8 page 2 line 5 after the word motors add text and solar panels, i think the word which can be omitted page 2 line 5 after the word Boucher add a second ref 9 page 3 after line 2 Service Ceiling; demonstrated 14,300 ft (4360m) add a new line Service Ceiling: Calculated at summer solstice 35,000 feet

my rational here is that Challenger required about 1.5KW to maintain level flight at sea level so at 30,000 feet level flight would require about 3 Kw. at any altitude above 10,000 feet on a clear day the solar panels could deliver over 4 KW .

Under related development Add Sunrise II above Gossamer Penguin since I pulled the solar arrays off the damaged wings of Sunrise and loaned them to the Solar Penguin program to convert penguin from pedaling to solar electric power.

Under aircraft of Comparable configuration add Solar 1 Solair 1

when I wrote solar 1 that was inaccurate I should have written Solar One the Freddie To plane in England. To was also an organizer for the famous Karmer prizes that Macready won three of. Wiki has two 1/h hour videos on that plane. What do you think, should a reference be made. Solar One would almost certainly flown on solar power alone if Freddie had the money to cover the whole span with cells instead of only 1/4 the span.
