I was writing the section on Talk:Ferris wheel and I was refering to a German Patent of 1959 as reliable source [1] I think types of cabins/gondolas on ferris wheels are worth to discuss. It's part of the historic development to big ferris wheels we now see. Have a look at Enchanted_Kingdom#Wheel_of_Fate

to see a 40m ferris wheel still in operation and built on behalf of Kallenkoot Brothers in 1972 in the Netherlands with round turnable gondolas. The biggest transportable ferris wheel of that time.

This is first hand knowledge, as Rinke Kallenkoot, 1930-2009, was my Father. Kallenkoot Brothers operated 4 different ferris wheels 1958-1983.

Rinke Kallenkoot also invented the modern Pirate_ship_(ride) in 1976, built the only two-boat-on-a-axle ride and operated it 1977-81. It was sold to Wicksteed_Park in late 1981 for 1982 season. See https://www.bbc.com/news/av/uk-england-northamptonshire-37829952 to the end of operation of the pirate ships in 2016 at Wicksteed Park. [2]

Sorry, I'm not used to the Wiki markup and editing rules. Here I uploaded a picture of the first modern pirate ship under construction in 1976: It first appearance was at [Mannheimer Mess] a volksfest in 1977.

Most of the pictures I have were made by some professional photographers which may or not still be alive but I don't know. My father didn't had the time to make pictures while working.
