Welcome
[edit]I hope you like this place — I sure do — and want to stay. Before getting too in-depth, you may want to read about the Five pillars of Wikipedia and simplified ruleset. If you need help on how to title new articles check out the naming conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the manual of style. If you need help look at Wikipedia:Help and the FAQ , plus if you can't find your answer there, check the Village Pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions)! There's still more help at the Tutorial and Policy Library. Plus, don't forget to visit the Community Portal. And if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on my user talk page or place {{helpme}}
on your talk page and someone will be by to help you shortly.
Additional tips
[edit]Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the 'pedia!
- If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
- You can sign your name using three tildes (~). If you use four, you can add a datestamp too. Five will get you the datestamp only.
- You may want to add yourself to the new user log.
- If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
- If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.
- If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random page button in the sidebar, or check out the Open Task message in the Community Portal.

Did you really mean to say that?
[edit]Did you really mean to say that you "couldn't agree more" that it is proper to compare me to a mass murderer? Really? For the record, the arguments that Jeff put forward are absurdist in the extreme. I shut down the poll because the poll was not a proper dialogue and debate, and discourteous to the feelings of real contributors who would like to find some common ground on this issue. To treat that as an attempt by me to shut down debate is just wrong in the extreme. But even then, to compare me to a mass murderer? Really?--Jimbo Wales 15:53, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
- Jimbo, first of all, this is not about you but rather its about the action you took therefore when I said I agreed, I was referring to the important issue at hand - that being that the debate was shut down. For your information, and in response to the ever so slightly paranoid comment you left on my talk page, I didn't pick up on the "mass murderer" reference - I had never heard of Jimbo Jones or whoever it was, nor do I care, as it wasn't the point. The issue people are concerned with is the sudden end you put to the debate - not with you personally. We are all well aware of the enormous contributions that you have made and nobody is questioning that at all, however the sudden pulling of the debate is being questioned. You're focussing on the wrong bit of the argumentRmkf1982 | Talk 20:49, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
- But, there was no pulling of any debate, no shutting down of any debate. I shut down a wildly inappropriate vote, that's all, simply because it was ITSELF the main thing shutting down debate.--Jimbo Wales 04:01, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks
[edit]Yeah when I was reading the Revenge of the Mummy page for Orlando it bothered me with the Hollywood references, so I tried to take them out and still have it make sense. Thanks for noticing. Phydend 23:58, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Your edit summaries
[edit]Jagshemash. When you write an edit summary to an article section, please do it like this
/* Section heading */ More grammar mistakes
not like this
/* Section heading - More grammar mistakes */
I got confused and thought that there was a section in Daniel Jackson called Stargate SG-1 - yet another typo. A rather strange name for a TV-moviefilm. :-) Dzienkuje. --129.241.210.38 00:45, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- Oh right - sorry. I was never sure whether putting the summary outside the /* */ bits would mean it wouldn't appear - I assumed the /* */ were comment indicators as in Java or C. Will know for next time. Rmkf1982 | Talk 23:34, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- By the way who or what is Jagshemash? Rmkf1982 | Talk 23:35, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Mummy Photo
[edit]Hey I noticed my ride photo from the revenge of the mummy was deleted due to possible coypyright infringement. Is there a way I can get that picture back on the article? Sorry I am new to wikipedia and don't really know how to enter pictures correctly and don't know much about the fair use policy. A response would be greatly appreciated.
- Hi Birdman234 - just in case you're watching my page but not checking your own, I've left you a reply on your talk page. Rmkf1982 Talk 21:18, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
Wizarding World
[edit]I saw your revision to the Islands of Adventure article. This discussion came up on the Talk page right after the "island" was announced in May. We were trying to come up with something that said that some attractions might be rethemed, but not saying which ones for the very reasons you mentioned. Take a look at IOA's talk page; I'd be interested to know what you think on this matter.
McDoobAU93 20:29, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hi - I remember reading the discussion a while ago and agreeing with both your last comment and the one after it. I think it's important to avoid passing things off as fact, or appearing to, but since all the pointers, or at least all the speculation, seem to be pointing towards Dueling Dragons etc. being rethemed, then I would go for something along the lines of what AUTiger said:
- "The island will include rethemed attractions and early media speculation centered around Dueling Dragons and Flying Unicorn — Lost Continent rides with magical and fantasy themes."

AfD nomination of List of lost ships of Starfleet
[edit]An editor has nominated List of lost ships of Starfleet, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of lost ships of Starfleet and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 23:44, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

AfD question: Recombinant text
[edit]I have very little experience in AfD matters, and am asking for your input before nominating an article for deletion, because, quite frankly, I do not want to be seen as someone who capriciously nominates articles which do not meet AfD standards.
If you have time, please take a look at this article. It was created by the person who—as the intro asserts—is the very person who coined the term. Most of the edits are by that person. Most, if not all, of the sources link back to this person. I mean, at best it appears to me to constitute OR, at worst, self-promotion. But maybe I'm seeing it wrong. What do you think?
I selected you and many other editors pretty much completely at random; I picked one day's AfD archives, and clicked on the talk pages of the first two or three dozen editors' talk pages I came across. I hope that in using this selection method, I will get editors who are well-versed in AfD policies, yet who also represent a good cross-section of AfD philosophies. I will monitor your talk page for your response. Thanks. Unschool (talk) 07:08, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
