Our intro page contains a lot of helpful material for new users - please check it out! Response to editing question[edit]

It really depends on how you want to define "really good at editing". For most people maybe a couple of months but there is always something new to learn on Wikipedia. You should be able to get the gist of navigating Wikipeida in a couple of weeks. That being said, if you r stuck or have any questions, then don't hesitate to ask me or another user. Also keep an eye out for vandalism. If you spot vandalism, please revert it as soon as possible. With that being said, happy editing! User: Hdt83 | Talk/Chat 04:22, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:WIKIPEDIA picture.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:WIKIPEDIA picture.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 06:08, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Just a couple of things. First of all, any efforts to try to clean up the page should be announced on the talk page, not the actual article itself. The cleanup tag is all that should be on the article. I moved your statement to the talk page, no big deal, common mistake.

I'd be glad to help out the effort. As I stated on the talk page, I attended Vines last year, so I certainly know much about the school. Let's first decide on a to-do list, as that'll get us headed in the right direction. --Kevin 05:47, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're in PowerMatch? I was in it last year. How's Mrs. Austin? I mainly did Student Congress, but occasionally I did oratory, PF, and LD. Small world. (I also went to Wilson. Kinda creepy.). Anyway, I'll get started on the list and the page, since it's spring break and all. I noticed in one of your comments that you said you were still getting familiar with the Wikipedia format. Check out the Cheatsheet. It's extremely helpful and I continually refer to it. Also, read the 1st entry; it has some nice tips. --Kevin 00:24, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, what Samtheboy said down there. You even got slapped with a vandalism template. Don't worry, it's not the end of the world, most Wikipedians (including Samtheboy) are friendly, and the foundation of Wikipedia is assuming good faith. So just be careful next time.

Moving on, I see that it was a wonderfully productive spring break for the two of us =/ . We'll work on the Vines page bit by bit. Somewhat related...what happened with Mrs. Austin? I've heard some bad things...I figured a first hand source would be best. I'd understand if you don't want to discuss it publicly, just ask for my AIM SN and I'd be glad to have a private chat. --Kevin 06:12, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome pages[edit]

Welcome pages should be left on the users talk page and not the main user page as you did with User:Hewlin Thanks for helping out with the wiki though!

Please do not introduce any form of vandalism to the userpages of other users, as you did to Lookatmeimjustsowhiteandnerdy. Thank you. --Samtheboy (t/c) 00:35, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

re: userpage[edit]

You NEED to make sure that you are putting the welcomes on the TALK page and not the USER page. Placing them on the user page can be seen as accidental vandalism, so PLEASE make sure that you are taking care. I know that this was in good faith, but I have noticed several occasions this evening when you have made a mistake! Thanks for your help so far, but please be careful! --Samtheboy (t/c) 00:38, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Willgard Texas Aritcle,[edit]

You recently deleted my article on Willgard, Texas. I can understand this, but please listen to this: I've spent 4 hours on the page, and I only need it for one day. Allow me to keep the page for one day and I will delete it. I wont add the page until the day I actually need it, so please dont delete it the next time it's there. Please leave a message on my talk page. Sam

You can't delete it, you aren't an admin. Wikipedia is not a place for nonsense hoax articles. IrishGuy talk 01:01, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Once again, you don't have the ability to delete articles, nor is Wikipedia a place for hoaxes. Do not recreate this article on May 10th or any other day. IrishGuy talk 01:06, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'll also have to point out that Wikipedia is not a free webhost. Sorry, but you'll have to find somewhere else to host this material. --Wafulz 01:56, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Sambo_pic.JPG listed for deletion[edit]

Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.
