I work at Onondaga Community College and am the schools Public Relations show. The information posted here is a disaster (through no fault of yours). I am trying to correct it. 216.6.242.212 (talk) 19:09, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Managing conflicts of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Roger Mirabito. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Onondaga Community College, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

Conflict of interest[edit]

Hi @Roger Mirabito.

I am replying to your edit summary where you state "I am the school's PR Person and made multiple edits yesterday which were wiped out. What's the deal?".

You must immediately declare your conflict of interest and make a paid editing diclosure. Failure to declare is a breach of Wikipedia Terms of Service. Please do not make any further edits until you have done this. See:

- Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure

- Wikipedia:Conflict of interest

Failure to declare this will result in a loss of editing privileges.

Are you a human? Can I talk to you?

Hi - I am a human volunteer Wikipedia editor.
Please make sure you log back in to your "Roger Mirabito" account when you reply- you appear to have accidentally logged out and are now replying from your IP address.
Wikipedia volunteers (like me) prefer to discus everything in the open on Talk Pages like this one. Openness is one of the fundamental principles of Wikipedia. Therefore I will not call you, and I suggest you remove your phone number, as it could be used by spammers.
Please do Reply to this message and ask any questions you might have and I'd be more than happy to help. Qcne (talk) 13:42, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand what the issue is. I'm trying to post accurate information and photos rather than dramatically outdated and or inaccurate ones. Please help me understand. Roger Mirabito (talk) 13:48, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'd be more than happy to help.
First things first, the Wikipedia Terms of Service require you to both make a conflict of interest declaration (because you are connected to the community college by being employed by them) and a paid editing disclosure (as you are presumably paid in your role as PR person).
Making these disclosures is fairly straight forward. Thousands of Wikipedia editors make these declarations every month. Please visit the links below, and navigate to the How to sections. Copy the disclosure templates, update them with the required info, and add them to your User Page.
- Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure
- Wikipedia:Conflict of interest
This disclosure must be the next thing you do, as continuing to edit without these disclosures is a breach of our Terms of Service and will result in a loss of editing privileges.
Once you have made these disclosures, let me know, and I can walk you through how to edit the article St Columbanus' College. Qcne (talk) 13:54, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
