well, i don't know how to chat with you in this forum, but i have a question. I collect all kinds of strange things, and i have an original of Robert Franklin Williams FBI Wanted flyer. I tried to JPEG the crinkly yellow thing, and it was rejected by Wikipedia. Maybe i did it wrong or maybe the issue is with the flyer's use.

I think the Jpeg of my flyer falls under "fair usage" because it's an historical document. (incidentally, i have 10 or 11 different FBI Wanted flyers of different "suspects" from the mid-1960's to mid-1970's.

They're fascinating, which is why i kept them--I am a poet, and when i happened upon them, i thought these flyers would make a nice creative project. I filed my collectable find for a while, but started researching the flyers tonight with my housemate, Paul. We were surprised and delighted to find information on two names thus far: John D. Slaton, a Most Wanted in 1966, apprehended in 1967, and this civil rights hero: Robert Franklin Williams. i would like to include the FBI flyer in William's Wikipedia page. Do you think it's (uhm) too much?

Also, Wikipedia generally doesn't "reject" things; images are usually marked for deletion after a while if there aren't any sources... So I really don't know what might have happened. Please reply if you have any more questions! Root2 05:43, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blanking *a section* of "Secure Shell"[edit]

I deleted that paragraph of "How ssh uses public-key cryptography (with analogy)" under the "Secure Shell" article, under the IP address of 64.203.216.146. Frankly, I think such a poorly-written and unnecessary paragraph was doing Wikipedia more of a disservice than my deletion of said paragraph. However, I have respected your revert.

Here's what I put under the Secure Shell talk page: "...I still think it should be trashed. Saying that SSH supports public-key authentication is enough - just provide a link to the main Public-Key Cryptography article - there's nothing too revolutionary about SSH's implementation of it, and this section is just a poor overview of public-key cryptography. My golden retriever can write better than this - poor grammar, too many colloquialisms, and what the hell is a "Padlock" (mind you, this links to the article about the physical padlock...)?!"

Disambiguation link fixing one-day contest[edit]

I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed.
