Information icon Hello, I'm Genericusername57. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, K-pop, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. gnu57 16:15, 4 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Genericusername57. I provided a reliable source in this edit — 881472558. The source confirms that K-pop is popular music of South Korea. It doesn't say K-pop is genre. Rouk Mengele (talk) 16:36, 4 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Rouk Mengele, I agree that that source does establish that K-pop borrows from other genres; but the source does not establish that K-pop is not itself a genre of music—and a number of other sources already in the article do call K-pop a genre. Also, not all Korean popular music falls under the umbrella of K-pop: as you can see in the history subsection, Korean popular music has been around since 1885, but modern K-pop began in the 1990s. Other forms of Korean popular music like trot (music) and Korean hip hop are not typically considered K-pop. Cheers, gnu57 18:55, 4 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
