Please help-Lao language request
[edit]Hello! The Wikipedia:Graphic Lab is working on artwork related to Laos, and we need some help to get the proper Lao language text into the artwork. As Thai and Lao are closely-related languages, I ask you to please visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Graphic_Lab/Images_to_improve#Scouting_in_Laos and see if you can help! Thanking you in advance, Chris 06:04, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Please think about whether each article belongs in any given category's scope. For example, List of Buddhism-related topics is not a Buddhist term or even a list exclusively consisting of Buddhist terms. Seven Factors of Enlightenment is already in a subcategory of Category:Buddhism, so being in the supercategory as well does not fit the scheme. Does Category:Buddhism actually become easier to navigate if it gets populated with every single article related to Buddhism? –Pomte 04:22, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Rowsees -
- First, I want to thank you for your obvious interest in and dedication to WP Buddhism articles. Your skills and knowledge will no doubt be invaluable.
- Second, if I may, I would simply like to second User:Pomte's point: A lot of work has gone on in the past (at least since I've been editing) where categories have been cleansed of redundant entries, so that articles are identified in the lowest-level pertinent category. Thus, for instance, the Satipatthana Sutta is identified as part of cat:Majjhima_Nikaya but not as well in the higher-level categories of cat:Sutta_Pitaka, cat:Tripitaka, cat:Buddhist_texts or cat:Buddhism. I guess I can see there being pros and cons of this defacto approach as well as in the approach you're starting to implement. Since the non-redundant approach is the current standard approach here, I would ask that you would first raise this topic at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Buddhism before proceeding further, just to attempt to understand the rationale for the de facto approach and/or gain consensus for your different approach.
- Please accept my gratitude for your efforts insomuch as they show your sincere interest in the WP Buddhism pages and extraordinary diligence. I hope you can understand the reason for our cautioning you here but also please do not take this as anything negative. Again, your spirit and skills are highly valued.
- I look forward to future collaborative efforts and wish you much happiness,

- Hi Rowsees - I see you made this same type of edit again, this time to Samadhi (Buddhism). I'm not sure why you would do this after User:Pomte and I indicated that this type of edit is problemmatic, especially within the context of WP Buddhism articles. As I indicated above, there might be room for arguing that WP Buddhism precedence should be abandonned in this matter (e.g., perhaps you would use material from WP:SUBCAT to attempt to make this point?); but, given the precedence and given the benefit of communal agreement on WP, I again ask that if you plan to continue these edits that you then first take this matter to Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Buddhism to attempt to build understanding and consensus. I wish you good will, good health and much happiness, Larry Rosenfeld (talk) 04:16, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
- Per the newly inserted, belated welcome message above, thanks for your kind response. Best wishes, Larry Rosenfeld (talk) 14:17, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Peter Schneider (zen priest)
[edit]A tag has been placed on Peter Schneider (zen priest) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. mboverload@ 04:41, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
