I was trying to get into the category:Unincorporated communities in Wisconsin and all I got was:'Function override' what ever that means.I wanted to check it out to see if there was new articles on unincorporated communities in Wisconsin. Question

I recently nominated two articles at DYK: 1, 2, and as of now they are on the main page. I received DYK template for Sterlingville from you (through DYKadminBot), but not one for Little Applegate River. Hello, in the article that you wrote about Pete DePaolo, it says he was born in Roseland, New Jersey, but I found sources on the internet saying he was born in Philadelphia, among INDIANAPOLIS 500 WINNERS – BIRTHPLACES at indy.com and A century of Philadelphia sports at Google Books, do you have sources that say the opposite ? I looked a long time to get a decent picture of the SAFER barrier, and you uploaded one even cleaer! I added that image to the article. I went to the track in June and got TONS of pictures from everywhere as I had a pit pass. Check out this Commons category, and I'm not done uploading yet! I have pictures of every car. Race (MI 2)

Hey, what do you think? I bet Johnson and Knaus are trying to figure out how to sneak an extra gallon of gas into the car for next year's trips to MI huh? ... LOL. How were the cherries?

I'll prolly get to Lernerville and maybe Motordrome speedway yet this year. I'd like to find a way to tie in a Nashville Superspeedway or Music City Motorplex with a wiki-meetup there in early Sept., but it's not looking promising at the moment. Would still like to catch one or two of the year end events up your way as well, but we'll see how it goes. I didn't watch the NASCAR race, I miss most of them. I do love the road courses and I actually was with the NASCAR fan part of my family to watch the Watkins Glen race but it got rain delayed of course. I did hear a post-race interview, and Johnson said they are better off not playing the fuel gamble game because it doesn't work for them. I hope you can make it to the Music City Motorplex. I did a lot of work on that article and it always was a great place to watch a Busch Series race. In downtown Nashville, the Capitol building, and the Ryman Auditorium are AWESOME must-see places. No one watches my talk page, I'm not very interesting :P (tee hee!). I'm sure you'll get LOTS of pictures from the Music City Motorplex, so this is a productive response. Nope, I haven't given up, or abandoned the effort. I've dug up some sources and such to address the speed decrease in 71, and I'm working on it in my race sandbox. I'll try to get something posted in the next day or two with the proper refs. It's definitely come a long way - maybe sometime this weekend, or next week. I knew that you were working on it! I feel like the article is almost there, but there are a few loose ends. Take your time, we have as much time as we need. I want it to be done RIGHT and for both of us to be completely comfortable before we nominate it for FLC. This is the type of thing that you don't rush.

I just spent a whole evening doing a FA review on a FAC, so I'll probably ask for the author of that article to return the favor and give us a little help with a peer review on this list. Sure, I'll take a look. Seems like the last FAC was sunk by sourcing issues, which can often stop other reviewers from getting involved. My internet's fairly temperamental at the moment so I don't know when I'll be able to take a decent look at the article, but I should be able to give you a detailed review sometime in the next week. I can do the list too (though I'm not really up to scratch with the list criteria, so it could only be a prose review).

Regarding Caracciola, I think you could be an F1 expert and still have no idea about pre-war Grand Prix racing; I think a lot of people have no idea anything happened! I follow American racing to the extent that I watch quite a few NASCAR races (I'm still confused as to why they seem to have planned caution periods) but I'm a stranger to its history and people. Thanks! The only time that they have planned cautions is when there are known tire issues before the race. People wonder if NASCAR throws out the caution when the race is getting boring because some times there is no apparent reason for the slow period. I hope the sourcing was addressed last time for Kulwicki; I'd appreciate if you'd look into that. It was very hard to deal with so many issues while the article was listed at FAC. I wasn't expecting sources to be reviewed so hard - so I learned a lesson. I'm too busy this time of the year; I wouldn't consider FAC until my life slows down in late northern hemisphere fall after at least 2 months. Royal broil 11:41, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Sourcing at FAC is insane (and I think it should be). I found so much stuff for Caracciola that I couldn't use because the sourcing was iffy, which was why I ended up using so many books. I think preparation is the most important thing before FAC; your goal is to get as few comments as possible so as to draw in reviewers (which isn't to say extensive comments aren't useful or appreciated if they improve the article). I might have gone into Caracciola's FAC sooner than I would have liked because I want that main page spot which is only a few weeks away... Aptery gial 11:53, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Glad to help, of course. I never was big on peacock words, so it was pretty easy for me to adapt. I went to Slinger Super Speedway on Sunday night - WOW! Bring out the PEACOCK words! I saved it for late season so I have something to look forward to. Think of Bristol Motor Speedway if it was shortened down to the world's fastest quarter mile. The world's fastest 1/4 mile lap literally was set there in a midget as I cited in the article. Then throw some Super late models on the track; they've not much horsepower than NASCAR - 12 second laps. My favorite part is the restarts watching the incredible acceleration on the backstretch. ← SLINGER? ... very cool! Have only been there twice. It was the first place I ever saw Alan Kulwicki run, and his performance there was what made me such a huge fan of his. Got to go back a couple years after he died, and it's just always such great racing. Actually, that vid. you link to is in my favs. I think it's hard to depict some tracks with pics or vid. simply because they can't carry the flavor of the whole thing. Slinger is a GREAT track - glad you got to go!

WOW, let me know if you ever come back to Slinger, it's only an hour drive for me! Even if I would vanish send me an offline email. Lowell Bennett won and is leading the points; he raced in a few Busch races [4]. I've never got to see AK run in person, watched lots of Cup races of course. I first starting going to races in 1989 after watching tons of NASCAR / IndyCar / IROC/ etc races on TV. I didn't want to see a bunch of rednecks flip their car for a case of beer. Boy was I wrong. I went to my first races after my parents dragged me their kicking and screaming. They wanted me to get out more because I was so introverted (now I'm an extrovert). It was love at first sight! I was in love when I watched the cars packing the track before the races even started! These cars were a bunch of old beaters. Before the races, we would predict how many cars would start on fire that night! I don't think I missed a weeks races at that track for about 4 years until there was a the rehearsal for my sister's wedding. Now my parents complain that I go to too many races.

Are you satisfied that the list is done? If so, I'll do my final review and ask 1 or 2 other editors for a review before we propose it at FLC. Royal broil 01:28, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Actually, I had hoped to get back up to WI and combine Slinger, with a chance to meet up with you personally as a race fan. Sadly, I'm doubtful that I can do that this year - but do want to get up there again. Personally, I never knew anything but races. My dad proposed to my mom in the parking lot of Heidelberg before a race. By the time I was 6 weeks old, I was being taken to the tracks. I could bore you with story after story - but anyway - yep, I love stock car racing. ;)

As far as the article goes, I've done everything that I know to do at this point. I read through the procedures at FLC a while back, and I suppose I could just "nom" it, but I've been content to follow your lead on this. That's always led me to learning, better understanding, and improved editing skill (hopefully) before - so I see no reason to cast off my mentor/teacher at this point. ;-). I'll start working on a couple DYK things I have in mind - keep an eye open for a GA to work on, and maybe if this works out - even think about trying a FA (don't know if you're interested in revisiting the AK for another shot or not).

To be honest RB, I choose this article to work on because it was on your list of things to get done (#5 at User:Royalbroil/ToDo). It was my way of showing my appreciation for all the time you've spent helping me along here. I do try my best here, and hopefully you're not too disappointed in my progress so far. I'm proud to say that you're my mentor, I hope to make you proud to say one day that "I taught him" .. lol. Hey - ball's in your court at the moment - let me know what shakes out. I'm honored to have worked with you on this article! You've done an AWESOME job, now comes the nitty gritty. I think that you can see how getting a Good or Featured article is such a great accomplishment. They do get easier after you've done a few because you know the things to look out for. I'm sure we'll both learn something after it gets proposed. I did know that you decided to work on it because it was on my To Do list and I'm very happy to hear this. I'm definitely proud to have been able to mentor you through this process so that you have the experience to do it on your own after this at some point (if you choose to). I'm still thinking about AK for a second run at FA, but not until after this list is featured. I need to have some success under my belt first and a thumbs up from User:YellowMonkey on AK's article. I'm glad to see that I was able to come up with a great picture for Kulwicki ... that took a lot of effort. I even called Father Dale Grubba who was writing a book on Kulwicki and I asked him if he had a throwaway picture of Kulwicki for Wikipedia. He said he'd let me know but he never did. It all worked out. This week is very bad for me to get much accomplished - I'm booked every night between helping my brother move, races, and cutting 2 large lawns. Oh WOW .. that is just Twilight Zone freaky (the lawn). Both the guys that we get to do our lawn fell through, and I'm having to do the mowing and trim work over a couple days time here. We keep about 5-7 acres mowed, and between my age and my health - I just can't do it in a day anymore - plus I do have jobs to do too. I'm in no rush for anything - if a few folks look over the article in the next week or so, that's great. Maybe it's best to wait a week or two to nom it? Whatever you think is best. I have to admit, I really enjoy collaborating with you on stuff. I've done work on other articles, and when people just start bickering about things instead of trying to work together, I just say "forget it" and leave. That's why I keep coming back to race stuff. I'm thinking of putting 1966 Daytona 500 up for DYK. I'm not sure what tools you guys use to measure "1,500" or 5x expansion. Do you count words, letters, doc size? Malone, WI photo

I had taken this photo myself back in May, 2009. I wasn't sure which copyright tag would've fit, as it is not copyrighted, but I didn't want people stealing the image. The main reason for it's upload was to show the large grain elevator near the center of the town.

You're welcome about the table. This weekend is very bad. I have a lot of family over for today. Tomorrow I'm gone all day between driving and watching the Off-road World Championships at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway. Check out the action of the main trophy race live on ABC TV late afternoon and watch for me in the crowd! I do see concerns with the references and it's a very good point that I should have thought about. The flag should definitely be removed. The driver's home state doesn't belong. AWESOME racing at Crandon, especially with live national network tv running, but the atmosphere is even better! Soooooo friendly for Wisconsinites! It was great to see Jack Flannery accept his Off-road Motorsports Hall of Fame induction, even better in his hometown. Last year the said he has cancer, good to see him kicking. I was very happy to use their induction statement to give him the article that he has earned. In the pits, took pictures of trucks and a few drivers, glad to see that one turned out. I didn't realize until I got home that it was a killer picture of Jeremy McGrath that belonged in an encyclopedia which was missing one! Happy day! For lack of a better place to comment (and this is completely non-Wiki related), and I think enough time has passed, what is the deal with safety car rules in NASCAR? I was watching the race in Montreal, in the wet, the safety car pulls in, everyone bunches up real close, two across, then go. They are so close, in fact, that many crash in the next few corners, safety car comes out again. Completely stupid. Aussie Ambrose must have won that race ten times over, only to lose it on the last corner(!). Just needed to get that out. Maybe you two can explain it to me. I've already watches races at a local track (back when some local tracks had a pace car), and the track once announced that the pace car had done more distance that the scheduled distance of the race! Ambrose sure is a great racer-being able to come to another country in a different type of car and be able to be so successful. I'm more impressed with his abilities than Juan Pablo Montoya.

Actually, I think that the featured list is almost ready for FLC - it's on the backstretch of the final lap. Question about Dirt_track_racing undo

Instead of just deleting my contributions, can we create a section that we can list local and private clubs? Would that be a heading you would be happy with. I feel it is beneficial to let people know there is more out there than just the national bodies. GSMS has been around for 25 years and has their own rule book, so I figured they would be their own sanctioning body. Though, after re-reading the intro, I can understand your point. If I were able to find local information years ago, I would have started running a Mini Sprint sooner. I want to help more people like myself who may be looking for local clubs they can get involved in...... After reviewing the Midget Car Racing page, "NEMA - NorthEastern Midget Association" is listed under United States Sanctioning bodies. The date is done automatically as long as you sign. I see that you haven't been signing. You really should, and you can sign by typing in four tildes ~~~~, which can be found usually in the upper left by the #1 key. Dates in Wikipedia are done by UTC (Universal Time), which is the time in Greenwich, England.

As for local sanctioning bodies - think about how many local sanctioning bodies there are in the world! I see having links for regional touring series like NEMA, but not the rules for one track. I know of at least 2 mini sprint sanctioning just in my locale. Why give undue weight to just 3 mini sprint rules books where there are thousands of sanctioning bodies for various types of dirt track racing. Wikipedia doesn't exist to add a link to every instance of something on a topic. It exists to be an encyclopedia about topics, not a collection of statistics or huge databases like you are proposing. They falls under WP:TRIVIA. What I'm trying to summarize is the external links guidelines. I kept mini sprints in the list of dirt track racing vehicles types - that's a great addition to the article. I didn't know that the mini sprint article existed! 1966 in NASCAR ... I think I got it submitted with about 10 min. to spare, but it still needs more expansion. I didn't add the pic to the DYK because I figured you'd be using it for the Pearson article. Actually, you should have nominated the article earlier if you're going by the new article criteria. You should be okay, however, the article was expanded 5x since Sept 5th. So you need to move the nomination to the date that the 5x began, which was Sept 5th. The article was moved from userspace on August 29th, so it has expired as a new article nomination. Definitely suggest the image, an image can appear twice so I'm not worried about it for David Pearson! I would have worked on the Daytona 500 polesitter article all last night, but my #$)(&*internet connection went away at 7:30. I'm here to work on it now for as long as it lasts. Ahhhh ... ok. I knew it wasn't a "new" article, I just did the stub back when we decided to get rid of red links in the pole article. Then after I did the 1966 Daytona one - I thought I'd try to get the 1966 season as a companion one .. tee hee hee. I haven't had a lot of time to work on the pole stuff either - my best buddy called at 1 in the morning the other night. His ex-wife (who he still loved) had shot herself in the head, and it was the first time in 25+ years I ever heard the man cry. I didn't know what to say - he helped me raise my daughter (I was a single dad), and even though he now lives 1200 miles away, we still stay in touch. Question about de-linking

Some recent edits with AWB (some examples - Article One (band) 30/07/2009, Manic Drive‎ 06/09/2009, Kiros (band) 10/09/2009) have de-linked GMA Canada Covenant Awards and the Juno Awards in a header. Is there a particular policy regarding links in section headers or is this someone boldly de-linking? If the former, svp provide the ref. You've asked a good question! It's not bold, it's part of the manual of style - see WP:MOSHEAD. What you should do is wikilink on the next instance in the article, preferable at the start of that section. I'd add an unnecessary duplicate of these words in the article to make the wikilink. Hum - seems cumbersome to add all that text, but short of adding a sentence or two to the artist's career or history section at least a do-able solution. A quicker fix would be to change the subheaders into a list of awards, and restore the links. There appear to be no objections to the use of wikilinks in lists. They're taken from NRHP nomination forms that are noted on their image description pages, and as you can read here, most photos (including these) from nomination forms are private creations, not works of the federal government. When I started working with you, you had decent editing skills. Now you've seen how to work an article to Good and possibly featured status! ...the importance of using highly reliable sources. I'm surprised that my internet worked all night. The Chase for the Cup turned out to be interesting, except former local driver Matt Kenseth fell 2 spots to out of the Chase. I watched him totally dominate several features when he was a local driver at Wisconsin International Raceway. In the 30 lap feature, he'd pass the field in about 5 laps. Been a very rough week RB. It started bad because a friend of mine lost a lot, and this morning I had to have one of my dogs put down, and brought her home and buried her. You should be holding your head up high. You've gained SOOOO much! It's almost at the point where I won't be able to teach you much, because you're just about at my level! The main thing to do is concentrate on using only the highest quality sources, which is something you learned recently. The word choices and style are not teachable, they come from within. As for the bad week, at least this week couldn't be much worse! Things can only get better.

It's interesting to hear that you've been to WIR, too. I suspected that Slinger, Madison, Lake Geneva Raceway, and WIR were the tracks that would more likely be known nationally, which is why I wrote articles for them instead of other local tracks. I plan to go to LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway at their Oktoberfest on the second weekend of October and write an article for it too because it held ASA races and is a local NASCAR weekly track. Hey RB, sorry I've been distracted by r/l lately, hope to get back to speed by middle or end of the week. Looking at the pole article, it looks like we have to address about 10 refs? ... Is that about right? I think I can make the case for racing-reference since both ESPN and NASCAR.com are using their material to populate their own pages. HowStuffWorks, I'd think might be OK, I read an article in the Wall Street Journal about them and how they are organized and such, ... I think their editors are reviewed after they submit stuff ... but I'll look a little further into that. Orato I'm not sure about, I skimmed their "About us" page, and got the impression that they go through a review process, but I'll check into it a bit further when time permits. At least a half dozen or so of the remaining onces look like they'll have to be replaced by a higher quality ref though. (and I do thank you for all your work on that end of things). I'll see what I can find when I get back up to speed. Quick question, is it OK with you if I reformat your reflist on the talk page to be numbers instead of bullets? Of course you can format the list! I was going through the refs one by one and replacing them with information found at nascar.com using google's advance searching capabilities. You will of course need proof that racing reference is being used by nascar.com/espn and some of your other assertions. I count 10 questionable references left. OK, trying to get back into the swing of things here. As far as racing-reference goes, I started a page at User:Ched Davis/racing-reference which I had originally intended as a sandbox for an article. After some research though, I'm not sure that it would meet WP:N or WP:WEB, so I'm just going to use it to list and support various racing references that I think should meet our high-end reference standards. I've got the links to ESPN and nascar.com on it now. I'll prolly add orato and HowStuffWorks info there in the future. Getting back to the pole article - I might have found a good resource at: this book. Pages 75-77 cover a lot of the changes through those years, and it's a solid bookmark for me for future reference. Good idea, let's leave in Racing Reference as a source and attempt to set a precedent about it as a reliable source. We can always go away from it. ←By the way, I did want to let you know what I've been doing, and what I have as long range plans. I dug up a ref for NASCAR Manufacturers' Championship, and also started adding the tid-bits to the individual years. As you know, I want to get the 19?? in NASCAR stuff done, many of which are DYK worthy. Too bad we can't use what DocIndy has in his head as a wp:rs ... lol. I think that man knows more about NASCAR than I could ever hope to learn! I like his NASCAR lore article, and might see if he'd mind if I worked on that a bit. In the long run, there are 2 articles that I'd love to get going: NASCAR safety and NASCAR history, both of which I think there are resources to be had to make them GA material down the road. I did notice the NASCAR rules and regulations article too .. hmmm .... not bad. Watchlisted. RB, the only reason that I'm telling you all this is because you kinda supervise the whole NASCAR project... well, maybe not "supervise", but perhaps "organize" is a better word. I got the impression from your kind words above that you noticed that my most recent DYK noms are much higher quality than my first one ... that made me smile with pride. Don't underestimate yourself though, you have a TON of things buried in that mind of yours to teach me yet. ;).

Some bad news (at least to me). I won't be able to get up to WI this fall as I had hoped. Finances, and circumstances just aren't going to permit it this year. However, I've been going over some stuff, and it may be that I'll opt-in to a purchase with my mom of a small mini-home early next year so that we can travel a bit more again. We're down to 4 dogs now, so it might be that a 3 or 4 day weekend, or even a week vacation would be doable if we had that available to us. She had kind of lost interest in a lot of the race stuff, but my talk and Mark Martin's year (she's liked him since he was a young teen), has kinda rekindled her interest. I could go on my own, but I do feel uncomfortable leaving her behind at her age and all alone. The farm is just too much for her to handle on her own, and while I'm not as young and valuable as I once was - I'm better than nothing .. lol. I am giving some thought to slowing my contributions to Wikipedia. Part of the reason is my health and other things going on in my life. Another reason is that I felt I reach my peak and feel others should take over. I manage to start articles for most of the Apostle Islands and the Roman Catholic diocesan bishops within Wisconsin's 5 dioceses. One article I take pride in starting was that of John Catlin who was acting Governor of Wisconsin. This was an example of the quirkiness in Wisconsin's history. The third reason is the Wikipedia internal politics the WikiDrama. I am getting turn off when I read about the scandal with the Arbrition Committee and the sockpuppet. You try to respect the rules and the etiquette and this happen. Also I got badly burnt in supporting an editor for administrator. This editor did alot for the history end of Wikipedia especially the Latter Day Saints including Wisconsin. Unfortunately this editor was exposed as a sockpuppet of pretty closed to it and the editor left Wikipedia suddenly. However, I do not regret supporting User:OrangeMike and yourself for administrator. I did this before this all happen. You and OrangeMike are doing an excellent job. At one point I was going to support:User:Orlady for administrator but could not do it because of happen to the last administrator I supported and the sockpuppet allegation that follow. I was a strong supporter of User:Archtransit so I had the wool pulled over my eyes once too by someone. It happens to the best of us. There isn't much you can do about it. I didn't let that situation slow me down, I always thought that I had good judgment. So don't let one problem slow you down. I hope that people that supported this problem admin can look past it too because they bring a lot to Wikipedia. Occasional judgment errors are human, and people look back on a situation with 20/20 vision. I keep struggling with finding time for Wikipedia now that I'm working out full time. All is well with me! I hope it is with you too. My internet is not well, down probably 75% of the time I want to use it. I wrote a bitchy letter, got 2 months free internet. Of course, 2 months of horrible connection doesn't help me much. That's why I'm not on here much - barely have time to check email a lot of the time. I did work on my David Pearson sandbox article all last night from my book reference - finally made progress on something. I need to create sections for how the qualifying was done before and after the Top 35 rule went into effect. You have done the before section. Next we somehow need to find time to use the great Jayski explanation about how it works. Otherwise the article is in good shape. I did some research - the 2 main NASCAR biographies that readers check out are Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty so they are the best thing to focus on since you are asking. How is it that this article has both content and a list? Is there a reason there's no article on Daytona 500 qualifying procedures, or why the qualifying procedures aren't in the Daytona 500 article, with a cross-reference to the list? The numbers in parentheses after drivers' names aren't identified. I figured out that they represent the number of times the driver won the pole position. Could you (1.) eliminate them because they're listed in bullets below; or (2.) put them in a separate column (but then the Statistics - Multiple winners section would be duplicate information.)?

Table notes - Could you make these footnotes to the table, so that the event years in question have a superscripted number that is noted below? Here's a table that shows what I mean.

According the DeLorme Wisconsin Atlas&Gazateer, There are two Centerville, Wisconsin-one is in Saint Croix County and the other is between Grant and Lafayette Counties-you were refering to the one in Saint Croix County. I reassessed and proofread the article. It probably has the best history section of any town in Wisconsin. I assessed as C class because there are areas that could use significant improvement to be a good article. It's getting close to B class. There are a lot of sections that articles on urban areas have that I think are totally inappropriate for an unincorporated area, such as climate, economy, neighborhoods, parks and recreation, sports, media. Why? Because they're non-existent. How can you write about something that doesn't exist? (Climate exists, of course, but NOAA doesn't record climate for Roxbury, so there are no data to report.) In Roxbury, there are no no schools, no neighborhoods, no parks, no recreational facilities, no businesses except the ones already mentioned in the article, no sports, no newspapers, no TV stations, no cultural life, no annual events. There is just the hamlet, which was mentioned, and farms. I looked over articles on rural areas in Wisconsin and I couldn't find any that had more than the basic cookie cutter geography and demographics sections. If you can you find me an example of a rural town or township article with sections such as in the Denver article, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise, I'm through with the article. Fr. Jordan of the Salvatorians

Hi Royalbroil-I think I can do an article about Fr. Jordan-he is up for canonization. I had been doing articles about Roman Catholic diocesan bishops and 2-3 articles about titular sees that got their start in the US as dioceses. I also been working on various Wisconsin legislators especially those from the 19th century. Okay- a question how will flagged revisions affect myself with editing. An example: Federal court judge Myron L. Gordon died-he was also on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. I got an obit put it in as a citation and made the change. There was not that much publicity about his death. Would flagged revisions affected the changes I made if it was in effect? I am wondering and concern. Another item about Wisconsin legislators-someone who is into political science-politics should do the articles about those who are still in the legislature. Good question - I don't know exactly how it will be implemented. I think what's being considered is having a group of trusted people (besides admins) that can review changes. This is why I keep pushing you to let me give you WP:ROLLBACK - it would give you a better chance of being in the approved list. You've done so much here and probably would succeed in an RFA if you would do minimal diversification. You certainly have the number of edits and the right demeanor. I have been experiencing the same issue with busy real life and constantly down internet. But I have good news! My ISP has literally decided to cancel service in my area at the end of December, so I'm forced to find something else. I had just started intensely looking right before the announcement, and it went very poorly until Thursday when I found a provider in the telephone book which should have a strong signal. It's going to cost me an extra $10/month. Can you believe the cheapest option is $50/month with no DSL available way out in the country? Anyhow, I'm very excited to find something reliable. William B. Slaughter

I started an article William B. Slaughter and it might be DYK material. William Slaughter became a lawyer in Kentucky and was elected to the Indiana House of Representations where he introduced resolutions supporting President Jackson in the Nullification Crisis involving South Carolina. Eventually Slaughter ends up in Wisconsin Territory and helps organized the territory and becomes Wisconsin terrritorial secretary. Here is the interesting part a county now Washington County, Iowa is named after him but the citizens did not like the name so the citizens of the county named it after President Washington instead. RoyalBroil-if you feel this is DYK then fine although I will not nominate this myself. If it is nominated another editor who is involved should also get the credit. It barely passes the DYK length criteria, it should really get expanded first. I checked it with the unofficial checker that many people use. I'm at 99 DYK including 89 ones I did and 10 nominations. I decided that #100 is going to be a big one, so I've been working for months in my sandbox on expanding a neglected article to WP:GA standards for #100. So I'm not taking requests and I'm going to pass on it. I think you should nominate it! It's easy and it's looks good on your resume! I'm happy to walk you through it and to approve the hook. It was a passing thought. I did get a DYK about Tommy Burnett Tennessee House of Representatives. Orlady was and is very kind and gracious and it was graetly appreciated. I told Orlady that the members of the various state legislature are far more interesting then their counterparts in the US Congress. One example Davis Hanson Waite-he was from New York state and added up in 2 different state legislatures Wisconsin/Kansas before he added up as Governor in a 3rd state Colorado. Also I started an article about Alexander P. Field Wisconsin Territory Secretary-in my research he apparently had a drinking problem and was married 3 times-he started out in the Illinois General Assembly was that state's Secretary of State, went to Wisconsin Territory then to Louisiana where he became Attorney General. So lots of this is interesting and makes Wikipedia unique and special about information that may not show up in almanacs or other encyclopedias. No problem-this is the first time I did a DYK so it is interesting-everyone has been helpful. Another artcle I started was Charles Dunn, CJ of the Wisconsin Territorial Supreme Court. His daughter Catherine married the first Wisconsin Governor Nelson Dewey. Unfortunately, the Nelson had martial problems and Nelson Dewey filed for a divorce that never went through. As I told Orlady, Field was married 3 different times, was a heavy drinker. When he was Secretary of State of Illinois, hhe spent lots of time away most of it in St. Louis. The historian who wrote the article for the Illinios Historical Society Ralph Stevens even did not have a favorable attitute about Field. Even the Field Family Tree I look at was not that impress with him. Stevens even had problems getting photos of Field. Articles Conflict of Interest

Hi Royalbroil- I to revert edits on 2 articles because of possible Conflict of Interest and original research: #Lucian Pulvermacher- he claimed to be Pope Pius XIII and died quite recently- it sounds like someone from his group made the edits no citations in fact citations were taken out. I asked the editor involved not to make the changes. #Alex Jordan, Jr. of House on the Rock same reason some from organizations made the changes original research/no citation-both have Wisconsin connections. Notability of Wisconsin political figures

Out of curiosity, what's your stance on keep/delete for Wisconsin? I personally think that WP:POLITICIAN is a reasonable guidepost. The reason I ask is because people like Ben Manski do not seem to meet that guidepost, but have survived an AfD. Meanwhile Thomas Kemp, who has actually won some political office, appears likely to head for deletion. I ask because I am considering re-nominating Ben Manski for AFD, but do not wish to if other WP:WPWI contributors have different ideas of notability. I judge by WP:POLITICIAN too. I would argue to keep Manski - not because he attempted minor political offices, but because he was the co-chair in a national political party. That appears to be his only area with notability, with the possible except of being the current head of a company with an article. I consider myself more on the inclusionist side, although I may be more middle of the road since Wikipedia as a whole has gravitated toward me in the past few years. Photo request

No, I don't have any pics of the Mequon Town Hall. Yes, I do intend to get one. I was there last summer, but I wasn't sure which building it was. Now that I've figured it out, I haven't gotten around to going back. This would probably be a good time, since the trees are bare, and you can see the building better. I know how how it is to run out of time. Last week I was out, and it was snowing, so that made things a bit slow. And then, it was the shortest day of the year, so I had to quit a little after 4:00. I also couldn't find one of the sites, and after I got home, I remembered to check it out on Google Maps Street View. This article seems at least as well referenced as MAD Christian Radio Show and that article has remained untouched on wikipedia.

At least there are assertions of notability for that article. It supposedly airs internationally and it won Dove Awards (I assume that's what the article means) which are quite notable. I regret that you do not see this radio show for it's importance in the Christian Metal counter culture. but it just does not get the type of "High Profile" media that you require. CCM and other magazines of that type would never support a program that represents the Christian Metal couter culture such a The Full Armor of God Broadcast. And Magazines such as the ones The Full Armor of God Broadcast is able to advertise in such as HM, Heaven's Metal, Uprisezine, Wheels of Grace and Christian Motorsports Illustrated. These types of magazines do not publish articles about radio shows. Only bands, musicians, Skate boarders, motorcycle builders and race car drivers. Advertisement is all this radio show can hope for in that area. But I do tend to disagree with you (though it surely can only further hurt this cause). I think that steady advertisement does establish notability. I mean, why should it matter if the coverage is paid for or not, it still reaches the same number of readers, right? Steady advertisement also establishes some professionalism. If your mind is made up than it's made up, but as a Christian I would ask you to please seek the Lord's guidance on this matter in prayer before you make a final decision. Also please take into account the audio media content that has been referenced. Perhaps you might ask someone you know in WikiPorject Christian Radio, if it exists, to review this article too. I believe that the refernced digital content proves the program's notability in many ways. Interviews such as Demon Hunter, Brian HEAD Welch, As I Lay Dying, Stryper and Disciple should prove some level of notability to the show in and of themselves. Bands like them don't take the time to do interviews with shows that they never heard of. I have refferenced 15 radio stations that air the program. Everytime I post links to radio station program schedules that list the show as being aired, they are removed and I am told that they are not credible. How can a radio staion listing a radio show on its program schedule NOT be credible? This really seems unfair. They take of all the references to radio staions who air the program, than leave a demand to provide citatin for syndication verification. I realize this show is NOT A1R, but it does reach a significant Christian counter culture of Metal HEADS, Extreme Sports Fans, Bikers and Recovering Addicts. Please take some time to look into this awesome radio outreach ministry. I am sure you will see that God uses it mightily. A radio station listing its programs should be credible, so I don't understand this one. I believe that there's some way to have this article on Wikipedia at some point, even if that point isn't now. You are the key to make it happen. If you can find articles about the program in periodicals, then it's probably worthy of inclusion. I think that you've meet the verification part of Wikipedia; the material that you're adding appears to be true. The problems is that you haven't satisfied the notability part yet. I find it hard to believe that a nationally syndicated show with 15 radio stations has never been the subject of a non-advertising article written by a trade magazine or local newspaper. I can find articles in local newspapers about small local businesses! Before you post this article again (after writing in your user sandbox), let me and several other people look it over before it gets posted. Let's take our time and do it right so no one will have a problem with it. There are plenty of worthwhile topics in the world that don't have Wikipedia articles. Is this really worth the heartache to you? I suspect your conflict of interest is a very large part of the problem, because others perceive that you have an ulterior motive. For some background that is not apparent to the general public, there recently has been a lot of bad feelings in Wikipedia when some people have been paid to create articles. When I write an article about a national radio program, I rarely get any grief. That's because I don't have a reason to write the article. And remember, just because I'm an admin doesn't mean ANYTHING. The article needs to be verifiable, written in a neutral point of view, and have multiple independent sources. But for now, as one last ditch effort to establish some small level of notability to The Full Armor of God Broadcast I have linked article to a few short mp3 sound clips of notable guests who have endorsed the show verbally including: Ryan Clark of Demon Hunter, Nick Hipa of As I Lay Dying, Brian HEAD Welch (formerly) of Korn, Kevin Young of Disciple and Kirk Cameron of Way of the Master Ministies. Though these sound clips are hosted by The Full Armor of God Broadcast's website, unless the program is going to be accused of falsification of these clips entirely (which certainly is NOT the case), these should establish at least some slight basis of notability, if only on a small scale. Please consider these audio clips as "self published web content" to establish notability enough to keep this modest article on wikipedia. Otherwise, I will keep working on it in the sandbox and see if any magazine articles exisit. If they do, they are more likely to be similar to local ministry bulletins and not major publications as requested. Lastly, please do not discount the listening audience of XYZ Radio which serves the iPhone, Wii, DS, PS3 and PSP. This is a QUICKLY GROWING medium of broadcasting and reaches many listeners! Please Note Full Armor of God Broadcast is about as well known in the area of Christian Metal as it can be. Unfortunately the magazines that cover the Christian Metal culture won't really publish anything on them. But they have been notible enough to trade airtime for magazine ads. I hope that the radio liners from notable artists & from Kirk Cameron at least help establish some notability. We also found a couple references about the show on a couple bios from the band Armed Conflict who performs the Full Armor of God Broadcast theme song. The Full Armor of God Broadcast is hardly Focus on the Family in notability, but considering that Christian Metal music does not really take the spotlight in the coporate Christian music world and is very much a counter culture and that the show is certainly NOT corporate radio, it has gotten as much coverage as a radio show of it's type can, without switching over to mainstream CCM stuff like Skillet or Flyleaf. Which would not be bad, just not the direction that I think he is taking the show. I know that they are very popular in the Christian Motorcycle world, the Christian Extreme Sports worls and have a growing populatity in the Christian Motorsports world. This biggest problem with the notability of the show is that it's main audience is an un-tapped radio market. So even though it is not the most famous show in radio, it certainly is the most recognized radio show in it's scope. As wikipedia policy states: "Article topics are required to be notable, or "worthy of notice." Determining notability does not necessarily depend on things like fame, importance, or the popularity of a topic—although those may enhance the acceptability of a subject" , food for thought. I have encountered that problem with other Christian music topics, so I understand. I made an article for Christian Music Central, a Christian magazine, and it was nominated for deletion a few days later. I was accused of creating spam even though I had nothing to do with the company. It was impossible to find reliable sources that talked about it. So I've taken some lumps too. This happened after I was here almost 2 years and about 8 months before I became an admin (which means I was already well-respected at the time), so it can happen to anyone. TY for that! My musical tastes seem to lean more toward Non-commercial radio, which I find very culturally important, but very hard to reference. Niagara shipwreck

I don't believe that the picture you uploaded of the Niagara is the correct one. I've been pursuing pics of that ship for several days now, and have found a couple of likely versions, but no photos (except of the interior). The ship in the photo you uploaded appears to be way too small to carry 1200 passengers plus cargo, not fancy enough, and I'm pretty sure the Niagara was a side wheeler.

Please remove the image if you think it's wrong. Feel free to edit the description on Commons. It would probably need to remain on Commons since old photographs of ships are encyclopedic (even if it's not the right ship). I would photoshop it out the graphic on the PD image before using it. The article says our Niagara was a side-wheeler, and I found two other pictures in articles related to our ship that match each other and the description. I also found mention of half a dozen other Niagaras, so I think it's likely that they often get confused. Also, underwater photos and captions of the wreck at one website mention a diamond-shaped walking beam, which is seen on these other pictures I've got. Doh! How did I miss that map? I heard a large part of the U.S. got nailed by that storm. I got help from a non-Wikipedian friend from Menasha, and we photographed all of the historic places and major items in Neenah. He's a big fan of what we've done and wanted to give something back. I'll be uploading them soon. I might wait until after I get my new internet on Dec 31 (hopefully!) so there'll be some reliability. I think my current internet is going to be shut down tomorrow. Mather Inn and IXL Historical Museum

So I added a couple things to the IXL Historical Museum, particularly from the state HAL site describing the main building. I've recently been slowly working through some NRHP lists in the UP, specifically Keweenaw County, Houghton County, and Marquette County, if you want more inspiration :). I have more inspiration than time! I'm from eastern Wisconsin, and I've photographed many hundreds of places on the register throughout the entire eastern half of Wisconsin. I'd only work on articles where I took a photo since I can afford to be so choosy. I have visited every county in the UP in my life; most were around 10 years ago when I had more vacation time at my previous employer. The Keewenaw Peninsula was my favorite part of the UP. I'm amazed at how poorly known that area is after being awed in its beauty. I went to the IXL Museum this past summer while spending a weekend at my uncle's nearby cabin. The photos looked good even though it was a dreary day that turned into rain while we were there. Royal broil 13:51, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
