Peer Review Notes

[edit]

Hi,

I enjoyed the parts of your article on Idu that you have right now. Your sections on culture and legacy provide what appears to be a comprehensive overview of the novel's critical reception and social commentary. You make great use of appropriate and relevant secondary sources which help to validate the information presented. Furthermore, these sections also include a nice balance of differing scholarly perspectives.

I did find the lack of context made the ideas somewhat difficult to understand but perhaps this will be resolved with the addition of a plot summary. I made a few copyedits to your article, most of which were just of simple typos or grammatical errors. I would suggest that once you add additional sections, you reread the existing ones to check for overall coherency. I am not sure what other sections you are planning to add to your article but I believe that a lead, plot summary, character list, and themes are necessary to provide readers with sufficient general information about the novel.

Certain ideas that are mentioned in these sections also already have Wikipedia articles written on them such as the Igbo people and Flora Nwapa. Linking these articles to yours is definitely something to add going forward if you have not considered it already.

Adding simple information at the beginning of your article including the publication date of the novel will also help with the clarity of your existing sections.

All the best,
