Fair use rationale for Image:Sciaflogo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Sciaflogo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — scetoaux (T/C) 20:31, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Sciaflogo.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Sciaflogo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:27, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of NDCC[edit]

A tag has been placed on NDCC requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Ironholds 17:57, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Redirecting to DAB pages[edit]

Hi! I would like to point out that redirecting from within an article to a WP:Disambiguation page is not very helpful, as what you have been doing in the Philippine Army, Philippine Navy and other pages. You are in fact redirecting the readers' attention from an article back to the same article, with an added confusion twist by introducing a disambiguation menu in between. Such redirects would be acceptable only if you are redirecting to a wholly different article with a wholly different title. Hope this helps. Please don't take offense is such edits are reverted or undone. Cheers! — KvЯt GviЯnЭlБ Speak! 01:15, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you are not getting paid for this[edit]

So, don't let it get to you. And don't take it personally. We're tagging articles, not dissin' anybody. All for the sake of having good articles. Those aren't "critiques" on your editing skills, consider them as lessons on how to write better articles. Cheers! — KvЯt GviЯnЭlБ Speak! 15:22, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And yes, I know it's nothing personal, but I would have appreciated it if you had added an additional citation or reference to the article, instead of putting back the notice on the heading that a previous guy already did. That's what I meant. Thanks. Ruffyuppie —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ruffyuppie (talkcontribs) 15:44, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh I see, some other editor already did what I did beforehand. No harm, no foul. Cheers! PS: Btw, don't forget to sign your posts with four tildes, like so: ~~~~. Damn, that SineBot is quick. — KvЯt GviЯnЭlБ Speak! 15:51, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice[edit]

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Image copyright problem with Image:PEFTOKlogo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:PEFTOKlogo.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --FairuseBot (talk) 05:22, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
