- It has been claimed by many sources, that this guy is kind of computeraholic, but as far as known there are no laboratory tests supporting this claim. User:The_black_goat_in_the_woods_with_a_thousand_young 15:75, February 30, 2010 (UTC)
- Well, well - I got this impression too, but laboratory tests won't prove anything anyway. User:Great_old_one 10:33, Octember 1, 2010 (UTC)
- A friend of my cousin Per, once heard him speak for himself - he was muttering in an unknown language - isn't that a sign of madness? User:Nyarlathotep 11:12, October 24, 16 BC (UTC)
- Yes, he's insane - that's true for sure! User:Great_old_one 07:55, October 14, 1066 (UTC)
License tagging for Image:Goblin-997.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Goblin-997.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 15:06, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Edit Summaries
[edit]Your recent edit to Arius had a ... unconventional edit summary. Perhaps it would be better for such an edit to simply state the change made - for example "linked to miracle" or "added wikilink"? Your edit summary would be a little more helpful to people watching the page that way. Just a suggestion. Thanks. -- Pastordavid 23:34, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed. I'll heed your advice. Sorry for all inconveniences. ;-) Rursus 09:19, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Conversion templates
[edit]Hi, Rursus! If this is going to be helpful to the WikiProject Space participants, I am, of course, all for it. Just wanted to mention that the templates provide more functionality than default conversion and are all documented at the templates' pages (see, for example, {{ft to m}}). Since the additional parameters are pretty much all the same for all the templates (long/short form, spelling, precision, and unit wikification), you might want to add them to your documentation page. Another thing I wanted to mention is a discussion Category talk:Conversion templates—the set of templates I've created so far may in future be replaced with another, better-written set, of which now only {{m-ft}} is available. Anyway, let me know if there is anything I can help with. Best,—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 15:39, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
- I see! I'll add much (but not necessarily all) of that information to the template documentation page, and make an explicit invitation to refer to the template page in order to get full documentation of the template. My doc is intended to be an overview. Soon. Rursus 10:37, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- DONE. Comments on yo?-ur page. Rursus 13:15, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- Of course, do that :) I take it the page is already useful to the WikiProject's participants, and it may later easily be adopted for WP:TSP project's purposes (you may want to let them know, by the way). Thanks!—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 15:33, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Illyrian
[edit]I refer to Talk:Illyrians. Sentence about Swedes was actually written by you, I only replaced the word Albanians with Swedes. You did not get offended, or did you? Hope not, but in case of yes then you must have been offended by your own sentence. Besides I have huge respect for Swedes and consider them to be a very innovative/ creative nation. Regards --Noah30 18:51, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- No hard feelings whatsoever! As I said before, the Swedes are not world's most polite people, which means that conversation Swede-to-Swede sometimes can be rude in a very sharp manner. I also saw that your claims about Albanian-Illyrian have some important sources, so even though I'm still inclined towards some Dacian descent, pinpointing the domination of the Illyrian theori is the correct solution according to Wikipedia policy. We're not proving anything else than that we can collaborate to make the worlds best encyclopedia for all times. Rursus 19:42, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Large pathetic galaxy
[edit]Yes, it was, and it took quite a lot of effort to get rid of it. It was one of the newly discovered dwarf satellites of the Milky Way, described as a 'large pathetic galaxy' in the press release, and someone thought that was the real name of the galaxy and wrote the article accordingly. Chrislintott 11:40, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- ROTFL!! The press releasers had probably no idea that such a description could create a fuss on Wikipedia! A tale worth telling. Rursus 13:48, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

- Not necessary: it's a fictional metal belonging to the Star Trek universe, since it exists only there, the "information" might be merged into any relevant Star Trek article. Deleting is fine by me, only if important and relevant information is saved elsewhere. Rursus 17:50, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Constellation article improvement
[edit]I may be willing to help out with some of the constellation pages, at least in terms of writing about the deep-sky objects in the constellations. However, I think it might be good to choose one constellation to focus on first and then to "copy" the style to other articles. Do you have a suggestion for an article to use as a starting place? Dr. Submillimeter 15:09, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
- Be very welcome. Your suggestion of copying style is of course the correct method, since it makes it easier for wanna-help-editors to understand what's to be achieved! The best thing would be to start at a constellation which is from antiquity and "has everything", including an obsolete constellation, f.ex. Andromeda, Cassiopeia, Aquila, Aries, Auriga, Hydra, Ophiuchus or Perseus according to your personal preference. Then the template constellation covers everything that will be needed. However, IMHO, the template constellation needs by no means be complete to be assessed to acceptable quality according to Wikipedia:WikiProject Astronomy/Constellations Task Force. First I aim towards looking acceptable, which means the articles are navigable and truthful. Said: Rursus 15:26, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
- OK. I think your range of choices is decent. I suggest working on Andromeda (constellation). A couple of other suggestions:
- The constellation infobox templates need to be reviewed. Some of the items are vaguely named (such as "bright stars" and "nearby stars").
- The article in general needs inline references.
- Every line in the infobox should have an inline reference, as is done with galaxies (see Sombrero Galaxy, for example).
- I have seen a lot of pages that you have created for this task force, but I have not seen a good central discussion area that includes comments from editors other than yourself (no offense intended). Could you please direct me to one?
- Also, you may be interested in Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser. Dr. Submillimeter 15:56, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
- OK. I think your range of choices is decent. I suggest working on Andromeda (constellation). A couple of other suggestions:
- Andromeda (constellation) then. Your items are now numbered 13-15. I'll take a further look on the constellations. Regarding central discussion, that shall of course be Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Astronomy/Constellations Task Force! I've messed on the wrong place hitherto ;-). Regarding Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser: I'll stand over till the Linux version comes. Said: Rursus 17:36, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
- I would move the infobox template review up on the priority list. Maybe I can just propose a new version of the template? Dr. Submillimeter 18:59, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm, it's actually not a priority list, just a list. Better then to define the contents of the currently stubby Structure section. Or actually make the list a priority order, then feel free to modify as you wish. Said: Rursus 19:13, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Hello, Rursus.
[edit]I noticed that you contributed on the discussion page of Landmark Education and read your comment. However, you might not know that the page is currently in mediation here.ERTalk 13:53, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, thanks for your note! I surfed on LE for my private experiences of EST and deemed that cultists are active on the net. But ... despite what these pages might reflect, my temper can be explosively hot, so I have to carefully evaluate whether I may be of direct assistance or not. The trouble in the LE matter is that some people just can't respect the personal integrity of other humans. If I've had it my way, there shouldn't be any mediation whatsoever, but a few editors with a certain background, should be banned from Wikipedia forever. I'm not sure that that's a constructive position, so I'll instead considering digging some more in the behavioral policies of wikipedia. Said: Rursus ☺ ★ 17:56, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
- I replied on my discussion page, and thanks for the reply there. As you may have guessed, I am not addicted to this site. Anyway, the mediation discussion is becoming much like the discussion for the article, being turned into a mess by you know hoo. You might like to look at my reply (on my discussion page) and at least have a look at the statements by people who want to keep the critical material in the article.ERTalk 12:43, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- Good, I'll read. For now, my analysis says that certain people behave provocatively, and then apologize for their behavior to later repeat their provocativeness. I myself have such sides, and I'm using my personal experience to see if my behavior can be improved, among others. I'm also using those experiences for defining what is true respect to individuals – when individuals exhibit such true respect mutually towards each other, there will not be such lop-sided unbalanced quarrels on the net, but that requires everybody to be in balance with oneself. Researching Wikipedia Online Survey
[edit]We are conducting research into the role of social norms in online communication. This research is funded by the European Union and is being undertaken by a coalition of European Universities (see http://emil.istc.cnr.it/?q=node/8). The research is designed to help us understand how social norms interact with the technology that supports online collaboration. We have selected 35 Wikipedia articles flagged as controversial for study. We are analysing the interactions on the discussion pages and are also seeking additional input from contributors to those discussions.
As a participant in the recent discussion about a controversial topic - Lupus (constellation), I would be very grateful if you could follow the link to a simple questionnaire. This should take only 2 minutes to complete.

Please clean up after yourself when you move pages around

- Moreover, please read up on WP:OR, before you accuse other users of OR next time. Translating cognomens for better transparency is not OR, especially when the king does not have a standard name in English.--Berig 18:07, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- It the English form of his name (Eric) + a translation of his cognomen, which is acceptable since there is no standard English name for the king. If you wish to move the page, please discuss it on the talkpage next time.--Berig 18:10, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- Translating cognomens for better transparency is OR, or find a policy stating otherwise. We're not free to invent terms and names. If "Eirik Arsale" is used outside Wikipedia, then "Eirik Arsale" shall be used. Take a search at google and set the language to english. Compare number of hits. It at least tell us that "Eric of Good Harvests" is something invented here, while "Eirik Arsale" probably isn't. Said: Rursus ☺ ★ 18:17, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- Please do not shift the burden of evidence, since you have not found any basis in WP:OR that translations are covered by it. "Eirik Arsale" is a name that only exists in one single translation and is such a poor anglification that it means *nothing* in either Old Norse, Old Swedish or English. If you disagree with a name that has been around for quite some time, please suggest a new name on the talkpage, and try to arrange a consensus on the article's name.--Berig 18:21, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
