Control copyright icon Hello Rvsingh12! Your additions to Draft:Aditya Khanna have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 04:37, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Aditya Khanna moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Aditya Khanna, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Speedy deletion contested: Draft:Animal (2023 film)

[edit]

Hello Rvsingh12. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Draft:Animal (2023 film), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A draft cannot be deleted under A10. Thank you. BangJan1999 22:28, 17 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello BangJan1999. Okay, my bad. Putting the draft under A10 was a mistake on my end, I didn't know which other criteria to put it under. I do still believe the draft should be deleted for the reasons I have stated. Please let me know which criteria I should put it under or should I just wait for the draft to be rejected ? Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Edit summaries

[edit]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that one or more recent edit(s) you made did not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances that your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits, an adequate summary may be quite brief.

The edit summary field looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary, and then click the "Save" button. Thanks! NM 22:21, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries (again)

[edit]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! NM 18:52, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies, I will be sure to remember it. Thank you Rvsingh12 (talk) 19:34, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Karna Lake, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Indian mythology. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 06:06, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Query about your relationship with Khanna family

[edit]

Hello, Ravi. You have created multiple articles about businessmen belonging to a particular family, e.g. Navin Khanna, Shanti Lal Khanna, Aditya Khanna, and Vinod Khanna (businessman). You also created Khanna family article about them. The sole two articles about this family that you didn't create are mainly expanded by you: Vipin Khanna and Arvind Khanna. At the Commons, you have uploaded their many personal pics and described them as your 'own work', e.g. [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], etc. So you obviously know this family personally. Can you please clarify about your connection with them? - NitinMlk (talk) 00:45, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, so sorry for the late reply to an important question. No not at all. I’m putting it on the record that I do not know the family and there is no connection.
I tend to get very intense about the topics I edit and love to go deep digging, and find and develop it all. I am very nerdy that way haha and I have a decent amount of time on my hands that I can go out and find info/things on what I am interested in at the time.
I would also like to add that I have written considerably about many other topics, made other articles, added considerably to many other articles, made bold edits (almost WikiDragon esque) and done many small and minor edits (almost WikiGnome esque). Also thank you, I do appreciate you asking me this question in good faith rather accusing me of any breaches. Rvsingh12 (talk) 17:22, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Rvsingh12. I share NitinMlk's concerns, and notice that you did not address the images that you uploaded. Where did you obtain the images? --Hipal (talk) 22:19, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, sorry again for the late reply… been dealing with personal issues.
I obtained these through various methods. One is public domain and archival collections. Two is estate sales and auctions. Three is amateur photography. Four is acquiring rights and developing historical ones.
Look, I value my anonymity very much, but at the same time, I value very much being an active Wikipedian. So for a little context, I am someone of somewhat ample financial mean's, who is able to gain access and obtain the above for various areas and topics. I became a Wikipedian as a hobby to contribute to an encyclopedia that really helped me, when I was younger, for learning and exploring. Again I assure you, I have not knowingly breached any of Wikipedia’s guidelines or rules.
Rvsingh12 (talk) 00:33, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, but I've never seen a situation like this where there was not a serious conflict of interest. If no other explanations are forthcoming, I think WP:COIN would be an appropriate next step. It may take me some time to get around to writing up a COIN report. --Hipal (talk) 17:36, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again.
Of course there will be more responses, and that will continue as long as this conversation carries on. I have no issues with talking/discussing this further, and I do not want any escalations to WP:COIN. I want to assure you that my contributions do not involve any conflict of interest.
I understand that you mentioned you’ve never seen a situation like this before. My case is unique because of my specific background and interests, which I have mentioned above, while maintaining my anonymity, which is very important to me. The images I contribute are sourced from public domain archives, estate sales, other purchases, and auctions, all of which, to the best of my knowledge and intentions, adhere to regulations and guidelines. Even now, I’ve started this editing goal of Himachali art-related articles, which is my current interest, as I am also a collector of this art. My means allow me to thoroughly pursue any interests I have.
Just because my situation is unique does not mean it involves a conflict of interest. Please, I don’t want there to be any issues. I enjoy being a Wikipedian, and I don’t want any doubts cast on me. I very much value the integrity of Wikipedia and other wiki projects.
Rvsingh12 (talk) 18:57, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You appear to be not understanding clearly. Apologies for asking, but are you fluent in English? --Hipal (talk) 17:29, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No worries at all, you just asked an honest question. I am fluent in English, or at least I'd like to believe so based on my education, haha. Rvsingh12 (talk) 17:46, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you.
To be clearer, I am experienced with situations like this. They almost always end with a block or ban. You've provided no information that suggests there is anything different from those other situations.
Maybe this would shed some light: Is this your first Wikipedia account? --Hipal (talk) 18:12, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, on the record, this is my first Wikipedia account.
I understand your caution, and I want to reassure you that I am here to contribute positively to Wikipedia. I understand why this situation may seem similar to others you've encountered, but I assure you that my intentions and contributions are all in good faith. I enjoy being a Wikipedian and do not want a block, ban, or any doubts cast on my reputation and integrity as a Wikipedian.
My privacy and anonymity are extremely important to me, and I acknowledge that this might make it challenging to prove my intentions fully. However, I am committed to honesty and transparency in my contributions. I have been a Wikipedian for around 2.5 years and have made approximately 7,600 edits across a broad range of topics. This hobby means a lot to me, and I want to continue contributing positively to Wikipedia.
If there are specific things you’d like me to do or improve, please let me know, and I will begin them right away. I value feedback from fellow Wikipedians and am eager to resolve these concerns. My goal is to maintain my and prove my integrity and neutrality while enjoying this enriching hobby. I am committed to adapting my editing practices to ensure they fully align with community standards and expectations.
Thank you for your patience and for giving me the opportunity to clarify my position. I appreciate the understanding. Rvsingh12 (talk) 19:39, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Let's get take this to COIN so others can look. --Hipal (talk) 20:20, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I understand your position, my answers or intent have not satisfied you enough to believe that I'm the exception to what you have otherwise seen on Wikipedia.
It feels disheartening to see my efforts and future efforts have doubts cast on them from now on.
I do not want to be blocked or banned from anything, and it feels demoralising that I could possibly be. Especially when I have only edited in good faith and contributed positively to Wikipedia Rvsingh12 (talk) 23:25, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've started a COIN discussion here. I believe there are ways for you to privately explain the situation, and mentioned it in the report. I did not look carefully through your edit history, so may not have listed all the relevant articles. --Hipal (talk) 19:09, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In the meantime, some pointers

[edit]

As I skim through your edits, a number of issues stand out:

You've twice been asked to use more and better edit summaries. While you've certainly improved since, it's still at a point of being a problem.

Are you aware of Wikipedia:Contentious topics? You should review it, especially around Wikipedia:Contentious topics/India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan and Wikipedia:Contentious topics/Biographies of Living Persons.

Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons has very high standards for quality of references and adherence to content policies, in part due to the contentious topics issues. You should review WP:BLP, especially WP:BLPRS, then start cleaning up your editing in that light. All poor or unreliable sources need to be removed, along with whatever content they are being used to verify, or they should be replaced with BLP-quality sources. --Hipal (talk) 21:35, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Noted. I will get on that. But please bear with me on the time line to complete it, as it may take me a little while. I want to do it thoroughly and properly, and I have been quite dispirited that from now on doubts will be cast on me as a Wikipedian and editor.
However, I have, in good faith, given you my word that I will clean up my past edits, which I full intend to do as my next big task/goal in Wikipedia. Once this is done, I may take a temporary break from Wikipedia. The time away will allow me to reflect on the situation and come back with a fresh perspective. Rvsingh12 (talk) 23:17, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
