  • I did not create that article; I just marked it for deletion. Rwxrwxrwx 16:24, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

Hey: I did this entire tree as a project for my AP Latin class. I just need a few hours to put it in. Once completed, it should be fine. I do have citations.

Link spam

What is Wikipedia's policy regarding link spam? I refer in particular to contributions by a certain user from 2006-06-29 to 2006-07-03 which included 71 new pages which are nothing but redirects to two existing pages. Rwxrwxrwx 17:47, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

I should think that should be removed - check out WP:EL for details on external links :) -- 9cds(talk) 17:50, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
I agree it should be removed, but I don't want to cause friction unless I can quote official policy; is there a policy? (I'd have used an internal link if I could figure out how to do it - any advice?) Rwxrwxrwx 18:38, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
Well there is an official policy against link spam which can be found at Wikipedia:Spam. Also Wikipedia:External Links (which 9cds has mentioned above) & Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not are additional helpful pages --Srikeit (Talk | Review me!) 18:46, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
I've tagged those 71 pages for speedy deletion. Rwxrwxrwx 12:22, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

Please use edit summaries

Hello. Please be courteous to other editors and use edit summaries when updating articles. The Mathbot tool shows your usage of edit summaries to be extremely low:

Edit summary usage for Rwxrwxrwx: 17% for major edits and 29% for minor edits. Based on the last 94 major and 28 minor edits in the article namespace.

Using edit summaries helps other editors quickly understand your edits, which is especially useful when you make changes to articles that are on others' watchlists. Thanks and happy editing! --Kralizec! (talk) 03:45, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:GleninaghCastle.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:GleninaghCastle.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 20:59, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

  • Tag has been added. Rwxrwxrwx 09:36, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Image deletion history

A picture I contributed some time ago has since been deleted. How can I find out when and why that happened? Thanks. Rwxrwxrwx 15:44, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

You can look in the deletion log, if that doesn't tell you all you need to know, ask again and give the name of the image. --pgk 15:59, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
I found the deletion in the log, thanks. Rwxrwxrwx 16:46, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

I deleted this page as per your speedy request. Please note that I did this under CSD A7, hope this helps as future reference. —— Eagle (ask me for help) 21:37, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

Hello, Rwxrwxrwx, and welcome to Wikipedia. An article you recently created, 4-Sight Fax, has been tagged for speedy deletion because its content is clearly written to promote a company, product, or service. This article may have been deleted by the time you see this message. Please keep in mind that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not an advertising service. Thank you. Blocking

How do I request permanent or temporary blocking of an anonymous user who has a long history of vandalism? He operates from a small number of IP addresses which are assigned to a particular company. Thanks. Rwxrwxrwx 08:04, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. Rwxrwxrwx 13:42, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
I can see the blocking policy, but not how to make a request. Rwxrwxrwx 15:59, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
To list a vandal, put the following text at the bottom of the Administrator invernetion against vandalism page. Replace 'username' with the name of any accounts the vandal uses, and 'ip' with the number of any ip address(es) that he uses:
{{vandal|username}} or {{IPvandal|ip}} optional brief reason for listing (keep it short) --~~~~ '
For example:

{{IPvandal|123.456.789}} and {{IPvandal|987.654.321}} keeps blanking pages and has already been warned about this a number of times --~~~~ '

You can follow this link to do that. Robdurbar 16:10, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

The climber featured in the image you removed was on belay, so I'm not sure what you meant when you wrote that the image had nothing to do with belaying. Could you please explain? Rklawton 15:34, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

  • Hi. The picture shows somebody on a climbing-wall, attached to a rope, but the belayer (assuming there was one) is nowhere to be seen. It does nothing to illustrate belaying. I've seen several pictures of belayers on Flickr.com; I'll upload one of them in a few minutes. Rwxrwxrwx 15:42, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
Uploading a photo of a belayer would be great. The image illustrates a climber on belay and that's a term described within the article. Rklawton 15:48, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

The image you uploaded is nice, but the photographer states that the two models are on belay and not belaying as you indicated in the image caption. Indeed, neither one looks like she is belaying in the image. Rklawton 16:03, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

  • I am an active climber (look at my user page). The girl on the right is belaying a lead climber. Her belaying hand is hidden but that in no way detracts from the clarity of the picture. Rwxrwxrwx 16:06, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
I see I was taking the photo's caption too literally. Rklawton 16:14, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Would you please clarify notability for FAXCOM? Thank you. - Tragic Baboon (banana receptacle) 21:12, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Cdrec2.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Cdrec2.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Take a look at Horsepens 40 and [1] and see if you can't fill it out a bit? Thanks! This could be an awesome article! there's plenty of external links about it, just do a quick google search. What I would REALLY appreciate is a filling in of some of the topo for HP 40, from drtopo.com . Specifically, the most famous routes there are "eightball, millipede, mortal kombat, crisifix, brawn, man with the slow-hand, red arrow (V4), etc." Also, all of the V11's deserve a mention. Regarding edits made to James Delaney (Laois)

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia, Rwxrwxrwx! However, your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove spam from Wikipedia. If you were trying to insert a good link, please accept my creator's apologies, but note that the link you added, matching rule \bexample\.com, is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. Please read Wikipedia's external links policy for more information. If the link was to an image, please read Wikipedia's image tutorial on how to use a more appropriate method to insert the image into an article. If your link was intended to promote a site you own, are affiliated with, or will make money from inclusion in Wikipedia, please note that inserting spam into Wikipedia is against policy. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! Shadowbot 22:15, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

  • I've no idea where that link came from. I probably accidentally clicked the external link button on the toolbar. Rwxrwxrwx 22:19, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Your category edit to Forth

I've undone your edit to Forth_(programming_language) and the removal of the stack category [2]; it's the defining feature of Forth, and removing it is confusing to say the least, as Forth is defined in that category (although I note Forths in general it have been made a sub-category). Let's discuss. Alex 21:39, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:FilaLogo.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:FilaLogo.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:20, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

  • The picture is the company's logo; I don't know what else to say. Delete the image if needs be; it means nothing to me. Rwxrwxrwx 18:42, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Non-free use disputed for Image:Snickers-workwear-logo.png

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Snickers-workwear-logo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:20, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

I liked your rewording re flexible poles; definitely an improvement on what I had written originally. Murray Langton 15:57, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Howdy Rwx, I'm having a hard time seeing how some of your comments([3]) on Adesterre's talk page could be taken as anything other than trying to further antagonize him - bordering on being uncivil. Please try to remember, it is important to avoid becoming hostile and confrontational yourself, even in the face of abuse (WP:ATTACK). I realize that you are tired and frustrated with his deletion of content, but at the same time, I've found that at least some of his arguments have a hint of merit.

Could you perhaps tone it down a little bit? Regards, —Mrand T-C 13:32, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

  • I agree, the article is quite one-sided (the article's subject does go out of his way to court controversy after all!), but all Adesterre is doing is complaining about it, vandalising it, attacking other editors, and generally doing absolutely nothing constructive to improve the article. And his arguments are rubbish, totally biased and full of inaccuracies. I'd be quite happy to see him playing a part in actually improving the article, and would give him all the help he needs, but for as long as he keeps spouting rubbish, I'll reserve the right to contradict him. I'm certainly not going to join in licking his arse every time he complains. Maybe you should consider toning it up a bit instead of encouraging him. Rwxrwxrwx 15:38, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
